1 我保罗和提摩太是基督耶稣的奴仆,写信给腓立比属于基督耶稣的众圣徒、诸位监督和执事。2 愿我们的父上帝和主耶稣基督赐给你们恩典和平安!3 我每逢想起你们,就感谢我的上帝。4 每次为你们众人祷告的时候,我心里都很喜乐。5 因为你们从开始直到现在,一直和我同心合意地传扬福音。6 我深信,上帝既然在你们心里开始了这美好的工作,祂必在耶稣基督再来的时候完成这工作。7 我对你们众人有这样的感受是很自然的,因为我常把你们放在心上[1]。不论我是身在狱中,还是为福音辩护和作证的时候,你们都与我同蒙恩典。8 上帝可以作证,我是怎样以基督耶稣的慈爱之心想念你们。9 我所祈求的就是:你们的爱心随着属灵知识的增加和辨别力的提高而日益增长,10 使你们知道怎样择善而从,做诚实无过的人,一直到基督再来的日子,11 并靠着耶稣基督结满仁义的果子,使上帝得到荣耀与颂赞。12 弟兄姊妹,我希望你们知道,我的遭遇反而会使福音传得更广,13 连所有的皇家卫兵和其他众人都知道我是为了基督的缘故而受囚禁。14 大多数主内的弟兄姊妹看见我为主被囚,信心受到鼓舞,更加放胆无惧地传扬上帝的道。15 当然,有些人宣讲基督是出于嫉妒和争强好胜,也有些人是出于善意。16 后者是出于爱心,知道我是上帝派来维护福音的。17 前者传讲基督是出于个人野心,动机不纯,以为可以增加我在狱中的痛苦。18 那又怎样呢?无论他们传福音是真心还是假意,基督的福音毕竟传开了,因此我很欢喜,而且欢喜不已。19 因为我知道,借着你们的祷告和耶稣基督之灵的帮助,我终会得到释放。20 我殷切地期待和盼望:我不会感到任何羞愧,而是放胆无惧,不管是生是死,都要一如既往地使基督在我身上得到尊崇。21 因为对我来说,活着是为了基督,死了也有益处。22 如果活在世上,我可以做工,多结果子。我真不知道该怎么选择!23 我处在两难之间。我情愿离开世界,与基督在一起,那实在是再好不过了。24 可是为了你们,我应该活在世上。25 我既然对此深信不疑,就知道自己仍要活下去,继续跟你们在一起,好使你们在信仰上又长进又充满喜乐。26 这样,我再到你们那里的时候,你们可以因为我的缘故更加以基督耶稣为荣。27 最要紧的是:你们行事为人要与基督的福音相称。这样,不管是去看你们,还是只听到你们的消息,我都能知道你们同心合意,坚定不移地一起为福音奋斗,28 毫不惧怕敌人的恐吓。这清楚表明他们必灭亡,你们必得救,这是出于上帝。29 因为上帝为了基督的缘故,赐恩使你们不但信基督,而且为祂受苦,30 经历你们从前在我身上见过,现在又从我这里听到的同样争战。

1 Paul and Timothy, servants[1] of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the overseers[2] and deacons:[3] (徒20:28; 林后1:1; 西1:2; 提前3:8; 提前3:12)2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. (羅1:7; 林前1:3)3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, (羅1:8; 羅1:9; 弗1:16; 提后1:3)4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy,5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. (徒16:12; 腓2:12; 腓4:15)6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (诗57:2; 诗138:8; 林前1:8; 帖前1:3; 帖前5:24)7 It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace,[4] both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. (约15:4; 弗1:12; 弗1:14; 西1:6; 西1:10; 雅3:18)12 I want you to know, brothers,[5] that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, (腓1:25; 提前4:15)13 so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard[6] and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. (路21:13; 徒28:30; 腓1:7; 提后2:9)14 And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word[7] without fear. (徒4:31)15 Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. (林后11:13)16 The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. (林前9:17; 腓1:7)17 The former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. (腓2:3; 雅3:14)18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice,19 for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, (徒16:7; 林后1:11; 加3:5)20 as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. (珥2:27; 徒4:13; 羅5:5; 羅14:8; 林前6:20; 提后2:15)21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. (加2:20)22 If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell.23 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. (约12:26; 林后5:8; 提后4:6)24 But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith, (徒20:25; 羅15:13; 腓1:12; 腓2:24)26 so that in me you may have ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus, because of my coming to you again. (林后1:14)27 Only let your manner of life be worthy[8] of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, (林前1:10; 林前16:13; 弗4:1; 腓2:2; 腓3:20; 犹1:3)28 and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God. (徒14:22; 帖后1:5)29 For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, (太5:12; 腓1:28)30 engaged in the same conflict that you saw I had and now hear that I still have.
