1Во всём мире был один язык и одно наречие.2Двигаясь к востоку[1], люди вышли на равнину в Вавилонии и поселились там.3Они сказали друг другу: – Давайте сделаем кирпичи и обожжём их получше. Кирпичи у них были вместо камня, а смола была вместо известкового раствора.4Потом они сказали: – Давайте построим себе город с башней до небес, чтобы прославить своё имя и не рассеяться по всей земле.5Вечный сошёл посмотреть на город и башню, которые строили люди,6и сказал: – Все люди – один народ и у них один язык; вот они и затеяли такое; теперь не будет для них ничего невозможного.7Сойдём же и смешаем им язык, чтобы они перестали понимать друг друга.8И Вечный рассеял их оттуда по всему свету, и они перестали строить тот город.9Вот почему он был назван Вавилоном («смешение»)[2] – ведь Вечный смешал там язык всего мира. Оттуда Он рассеял их по всей земле.
Потомки от Сима до Ибрама
10Вот родословие Сима. Симу было сто лет, когда у него родился Арфаксад, через два года после потопа. (1Пар 1:24)11После рождения Арфаксада Сим жил пятьсот лет, и у него были ещё сыновья и дочери.12Когда Арфаксад прожил тридцать пять лет, у него родился Шелах.13После рождения Шелаха Арфаксад жил четыреста три года, и у него были ещё сыновья и дочери.14Когда Шелах прожил тридцать лет, у него родился Евер.15После рождения Евера Шелах жил четыреста три года, и у него были ещё сыновья и дочери.16Когда Евер прожил тридцать четыре года, у него родился Фалек.17После рождения Фалека Евер жил четыреста тридцать лет, и у него были ещё сыновья и дочери.18Когда Фалек прожил тридцать лет, у него родился Реу.19После рождения Реу Фалек жил двести девять лет, и у него были ещё сыновья и дочери.20Когда Реу прожил тридцать два года, у него родился Серуг.21После рождения Серуга Реу жил двести семь лет, и у него были ещё сыновья и дочери.22Когда Серуг прожил тридцать лет, у него родился Нахор.23После рождения Нахора Серуг жил двести лет, и у него были ещё сыновья и дочери.24Когда Нахор прожил двадцать девять лет, у него родился Терах.25После рождения Тераха Нахор жил сто девятнадцать лет, и у него были ещё сыновья и дочери.26После того как Терах прожил семьдесят лет, у него родились Ибрам, Нахор и Аран.
Родословие Тераха и его переселение с Халдейской земли в Харран
27Вот родословие Тераха. У Тераха родились Ибрам, Нахор и Аран. У Арана родился Лут.28Когда его отец Терах был ещё жив, Аран умер в Уре Халдейском, в земле, где он родился.29Ибрам и Нахор взяли себе жён. Жену Ибрама звали Сара, а жену Нахора – Милка, она была дочерью Арана, отца Милки и Иски.30Сара была бесплодна, и у неё не было детей.31Терах взял своего сына Ибрама, своего внука Лута, сына Арана, и свою невестку Сару, жену Ибрама, и вместе они отправились из Ура Халдейского в Ханаан. Но дойдя до Харрана, они поселились там.32Терах жил двести пять лет и умер в Харране.
1En ese tiempo se hablaba un solo idioma en toda la tierra.2Al emigrar al oriente, la gente encontró una llanura en la región de Sinar, y allí se asentaron.3Un día se dijeron unos a otros: «Vamos a hacer ladrillos, y a cocerlos al fuego». Fue así como usaron ladrillos en vez de piedras, y asfalto en vez de mezcla.4Luego dijeron: «Construyamos una ciudad con una torre que llegue hasta el cielo. De ese modo nos haremos famosos y evitaremos ser dispersados por toda la tierra».5Pero el SEÑOR bajó para observar la ciudad y la torre que los hombres estaban construyendo,6y se dijo: «Todos forman un solo pueblo y hablan un solo idioma; esto es solo el comienzo de sus obras, y todo lo que se propongan lo podrán lograr.7Será mejor que bajemos a confundir su idioma, para que ya no se entiendan entre ellos».8De esta manera el SEÑOR los dispersó desde allí por toda la tierra, y por lo tanto dejaron de construir la ciudad.
Descendientes de Sem
9Por eso a la ciudad se le llamó Babel,[1] porque fue allí donde el SEÑOR confundió el idioma de toda la gente de la tierra, y de donde los dispersó por todo el mundo.10Esta es la historia de Sem: Dos años después del diluvio, cuando Sem tenía cien años, nació su hijo Arfaxad.11Después del nacimiento de Arfaxad, Sem vivió quinientos años más, y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas.12Cuando Arfaxad tenía treinta y cinco años, nació su hijo Selaj.13Después del nacimiento de Selaj, Arfaxad vivió cuatrocientos tres años más, y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas.14Cuando Selaj tenía treinta años, nació su hijo Éber.15Después del nacimiento de Éber, Selaj vivió cuatrocientos tres años más, y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas.16Cuando Éber tenía treinta y cuatro años, nació su hijo Péleg.17Después del nacimiento de Péleg, Éber vivió cuatrocientos treinta años más, y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas.18Cuando Péleg tenía treinta años, nació su hijo Reú.19Después del nacimiento de Reú, Péleg vivió doscientos nueve años más, y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas.20Cuando Reú tenía treinta y dos años, nació su hijo Serug.21Después del nacimiento de Serug, Reú vivió doscientos siete años más, y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas.22Cuando Serug tenía treinta años, nació su hijo Najor.23Después del nacimiento de Najor, Serug vivió doscientos años más, y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas.24Cuando Najor tenía veintinueve años, nació su hijo Téraj.25Después del nacimiento de Téraj, Najor vivió ciento diecinueve años más, y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas.26Cuando Téraj tenía setenta años, ya habían nacido sus hijos Abram, Najor y Jarán.
Descendientes de Téraj
27Esta es la historia de Téraj, el padre de Abram, Najor y Jarán. Jarán fue el padre de Lot,28y murió en Ur de los caldeos, su tierra natal, cuando su padre Téraj aún vivía.29Abram se casó con Saray, y Najor se casó con Milca, la hija de Jarán, el cual tuvo otra hija llamada Iscá.30Pero Saray era estéril; no podía tener hijos.31Téraj salió de Ur de los caldeos rumbo a Canaán. Se fue con su hijo Abram, su nieto Lot y su nuera Saray, la esposa de Abram. Sin embargo, al llegar a la ciudad de Jarán, se quedaron a vivir en aquel lugar,32y allí mismo murió Téraj a los doscientos cinco años de edad.

10These are the generations of Shem. When Shem was 100 years old, he fathered Arpachshad two years after the flood. Terah’s Descendants
27Now these are the generations of Terah. Terah fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran fathered Lot.28Haran died in the presence of his father Terah in the land of his kindred, in Ur of the Chaldeans.29And Abram and Nahor took wives. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran the father of Milcah and Iscah.
