1En aquel tiempo Merodac-Baladán, hijo de Baladán, rey de Babilonia, envió cartas y regalos a Ezequías, al saber que había estado enfermo y se había restablecido.2Y se alegró Ezequías con ellos, y les mostró la tesorería, la plata y el oro, las especias y los ungüentos aromáticos, y toda su casa de armas, y todo lo que se encontraba entre sus tesoros. No hubo nada en su casa ni en sus dominios que Ezequías no les mostrara.3Entonces el profeta Isaías fue al rey Ezequías, y le preguntó: ¿Qué ha dicho esa gente y de dónde vienen a visitarte? Ezequías respondió: De una tierra lejana han venido a visitarme: de Babilonia.4Le preguntó pues: ¿Qué han visto en tu casa? Y dijo Ezequías: Han visto todo cuanto hay en mi casa, y no hay nada entre mis tesoros que no les haya mostrado.5Entonces dijo Isaías a Ezequías: Escucha la palabra de YHVH Sebaot:6He aquí vienen días en que todo lo que hay en tu casa, cuanto atesoraron tus padres hasta hoy, será llevado a Babilonia; no quedará nada, dice YHVH.7Y de entre tus hijos, que procederán de ti, a quienes habrás engendrado, serán eunucos en el palacio del rey de Babilonia.8Entonces Ezequías dijo a Isaías: La palabra de YHVH que has hablado es buena. Pues pensó: Al menos habrá paz y seguridad en mis días.

1At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered.2And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.3Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon.4Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.5Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD of hosts:6Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.7And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.8Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken.
