La tierra por conquistar

1 Cuando Josué era ya anciano, avanzado en días, YHVH le dijo: Tú eres anciano, avanzado en días, y todavía queda muchísima tierra por conquistar. 2 Esta es la tierra que aún queda: Todos los territorios de los filisteos, y todo el del gesurita. 3 Desde Sihor, al oriente de Egipto, hasta la región de Ecrón al norte, que se considera del cananeo; cinco principados de los filisteos: el gazeita, el asdodita, el asquelonita, el guitita y el acronita, y los heveos. 4 Al sur, toda la tierra del cananeo, y Meara, que pertenece a los sidonios, hasta Afec, hasta la región del amorreo, 5 y el territorio del giblita. Todo el Líbano hacia donde sale el sol, desde Baal-Gad al pie del monte Hermón, hasta entrar en Hamat. 6 A todos los habitantes de la serranía desde el Líbano hasta Misrefot-maim, a todos los sidonios, los expulsaré de delante de los hijos de Israel. Tu solamente haz que el país sea repartido por sorteo como heredad a Israel, como te he ordenado. 7 Reparte pues esta tierra en heredad a las nueve tribus y a la media tribu de Manasés. 8 Con la otra mitad, los rubenitas y los gaditas ya recibieron la herencia que Moisés les había dado allende el Jordán, al oriente, según lo que les había dado Moisés, siervo de YHVH: 9 Desde Aroer, a orillas del torrente de Arnón, y la ciudad que está en medio del valle, y toda la campiña de Medeba, hasta Dibón; 10 todas las ciudades de Sehón rey amorreo, que reinó en Hesbón, hasta los términos de los hijos de Amón; 11 Galaad y el territorio de los gesuritas y los maaquitas, todo el monte Hermón y todo el Basán hasta Salca; 12 el reino entero de Og, en el Basán, quien había reinado en Astarot y Edrei, y era el último sobreviviente de los refaítas, a los cuales Moisés había derrotado y desposeído. 13 Sin embargo, los hijos de Israel no llegaron a expulsar a los gesuritas ni a los maaquitas, sino que Gesur y Maacat habitan en medio de Israel hasta este día. 14 Sólo a la tribu de Leví no dio heredad. Su posesión son los sacrificios ígneos a YHVH Dios de Israel, tal como Él le había hablado. 15 A la tribu de los hijos de Rubén, Moisés les dio conforme a sus familias. 16 Su territorio fue desde Aroer, a orillas del torrente Arnón, y la ciudad que está en medio del valle, y toda la llanura cercana a Medeba; 17 Hesbón, con todas las ciudades que están en la llanura: Dibón, Bamot-baal, Bet-baal-meón, 18 Jaaza, Cademot, Mefaat, 19 Quiriataim, Sibma, Zaret-hasahar, en la colina del Valle. 20 Bet-peor, las laderas del Pisga y Bet-hayesimot. 21 Todas las ciudades de la llanura, y el reino entero de Sehón, rey del amorreo, que había reinado en Hesbón, al cual Moisés había derrotado, así como los jefes de Madián: Evi, Requem, Sur, Hur y Reba, príncipes de Sehón que moraban en aquella tierra. 22 Entre los que mataron los hijos de Israel, mataron a filo de cuchillo a Balaam, el adivino, hijo de Beor. 23 La frontera de los hijos de Rubén fue el Jordán con su ribera. Tal fue la heredad de los hijos de Rubén, conforme a sus familias, sus ciudades y sus aldeas. 24 Y Moisés había dado su parte a la tribu de Gad, a los hijos de Gad, conforme a sus familias. 25 Su territorio fue: Yaazer y todas las ciudades de Galaad, la mitad de la tierra de los hijos de Amón, hasta Aroer, frente a Rabá. 26 Y desde Hesbón hasta Ramat-mispé y Betonim, y desde Mahanaim hasta el límite de Debir. 27 Y en el valle: Bet-aram, Bet-nimrá, Sucot y Safón, resto del reino de Sehón rey de Hesbón, siendo el Jordán su frontera hasta el extremo del Mar de Kineret, allende el Jordán, al oriente. 28 Tal fue la heredad de los hijos de Gad, por sus familias, las ciudades y sus aldeas. 29 También dio Moisés heredad a la media tribu de Manasés, y la media tribu de los hijos de Manasés tuvo posesión conforme a sus familias. 30 Su territorio fue desde Mahanaim, todo el Basán, todo el reino de Og, rey de Basán, y todas las aldeas de Jair que están en Basán: sesenta poblaciones. 31 La mitad de Galaad, Astarot y Edrei, ciudades del reino de Og en Basán, fue para los hijos de Maquir ben Manasés, para la mitad de los hijos de Maquir, según sus familias. 32 Esto es lo que Moisés hizo repartir como heredad en las llanuras de Moab, allende el Jordán, frente a Jericó, al oriente. 33 Pero a la tribu de Leví, Moisés no le dio herencia alguna, porque YHVH Dios de Israel es su herencia, tal como Él les prometió.

Land Still to Be Conquered

1 Now Joshua was old and advanced in years, and the Lord said to him, “You are old and advanced in years, and there remains yet very much land to possess. (Dt 31:3; Jos 14:10; Jos 23:1) 2 This is the land that yet remains: all the regions of the Philistines, and all those of the Geshurites (Jue 3:1; Jl 3:4) 3 (from the Shihor, which is east of Egypt, northward to the boundary of Ekron, it is counted as Canaanite; there are five rulers of the Philistines, those of Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath, and Ekron), and those of the Avvim, (Dt 2:23; Jue 3:3; 1 Cr 13:5; Jer 2:18)

6 all the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon to Misrephoth-maim, even all the Sidonians. I myself will drive them out from before the people of Israel. Only allot the land to Israel for an inheritance, as I have commanded you. (Nm 34:2; Jos 11:8; Jos 23:4; Jos 23:13; Jue 2:21)

The Inheritance East of the Jordan

8 With the other half of the tribe of Manasseh^[1] the Reubenites and the Gadites received their inheritance, which Moses gave them, beyond the Jordan eastward, as Moses the servant of the Lord gave them: (Nm 32:33; Jos 12:6) 9 from Aroer, which is on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, and the city that is in the middle of the valley, and all the tableland of Medeba as far as Dibon; (Nm 21:30; Dt 2:36; Jos 13:16) 10 and all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, as far as the boundary of the Ammonites; (Nm 21:24) 11 and Gilead, and the region of the Geshurites and Maacathites, and all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan to Salecah; (Dt 3:14) 12 all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei (he alone was left of the remnant of the Rephaim); these Moses had struck and driven out. (Nm 21:24; Nm 21:35; Jos 13:11) 13 Yet the people of Israel did not drive out the Geshurites or the Maacathites, but Geshur and Maacath dwell in the midst of Israel to this day. (Jos 13:11) 14 To the tribe of Levi alone Moses gave no inheritance. The offerings by fire to the Lord God of Israel are their inheritance, as he said to him. (Nm 21:24; Nm 31:8; Dt 3:10) 22 Balaam also, the son of Beor, the one who practiced divination, was killed with the sword by the people of Israel among the rest of their slain. 27 and in the valley Beth-haram, Beth-nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, having the Jordan as a boundary, to the lower end of the Sea of Chinnereth, eastward beyond the Jordan. (Gn 33:17; Jos 11:2) 28 This is the inheritance of the people of Gad according to their clans, with their cities and villages. 29 And Moses gave an inheritance to the half-tribe of Manasseh. It was allotted to the half-tribe of the people of Manasseh according to their clans. 30 Their region extended from Mahanaim, through all Bashan, the whole kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and all the towns of Jair, which are in Bashan, sixty cities, (Nm 32:41; Dt 3:14; Jos 13:26; 1 Cr 2:23)

31 and half Gilead, and Ashtaroth, and Edrei, the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan. These were allotted to the people of Machir the son of Manasseh for the half of the people of Machir according to their clans. (Nm 32:39; Jos 12:4; Jos 17:1) 32 These are the inheritances that Moses distributed in the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan east of Jericho. (Nm 22:1) 33 But to the tribe of Levi Moses gave no inheritance; the Lord God of Israel is their inheritance, just as he said to them. (Nm 18:20; Jos 13:14; Jos 18:7)
