1Pero algunos que habían bajado de Judea, decían a los hermanos: A menos que seáis circuncidados conforme al rito de Moisés, no podéis ser salvos.2Entonces surgió de parte de Pablo y Bernabé una discordia contra ellos y una discusión no pequeña, y dispusieron que Pablo, Bernabé y algunos otros, subieran a Jerusalem para tratar la cuestión con los apóstoles y los ancianos.3Ellos entonces, provistos para el camino por la iglesia, pasaron por Fenicia y también por Samaria contando detalladamente la conversión de los gentiles, y causaban gran gozo a todos los hermanos.4Al llegar a Jerusalem, fueron recibidos por la iglesia, los apóstoles y los ancianos, e informaron de todo lo que Dios había hecho con ellos.5Pero algunos de la secta de los fariseos, que habían creído, se levantaron diciendo: Es necesario circuncidarlos y ordenarles que guarden la ley de Moisés.6Y se reunieron los apóstoles y los ancianos para considerar este asunto.
Pedro al Concilio
7Después de mucha discusión, se levantó Pedro y les dijo: Varones hermanos, vosotros sabéis que desde los primeros días, Dios escogió de entre vosotros que los gentiles oyeran por mi boca la palabra del evangelio y creyeran.8Y Dios, que conoce los corazones, dio testimonio a favor de ellos, dándoles el Espíritu Santo igual que a nosotros;9y nada discriminó entre nosotros y ellos, purificando por la fe sus corazones.10Ahora, pues, ¿por qué tentáis a Dios, imponiendo sobre la cerviz de los discípulos un yugo que ni nuestros padres ni nosotros hemos podido llevar?11Antes bien, creemos que por la gracia del Señor Jesús somos salvos, de igual modo que ellos.12Entonces toda la asamblea calló, y oían a Bernabé y a Pablo contando cuán grandes señales milagrosas y prodigios había hecho Dios por medio de ellos entre los gentiles.
Jacobo al Concilio
13Cuando terminaron de hablar, Jacobo tomó la palabra y dijo: Varones hermanos, oídme:14Simeón ha explicado cómo por primera vez Dios visitó a los gentiles, para tomar de ellos un pueblo para su nombre.15Con esto concuerdan las palabras de los profetas, como está escrito:16Después de estas cosas volveré, y restauraré el tabernáculo de David, que ha estado caído, Y reconstruiré sus ruinas, y lo reedificaré;17Para que el resto de los hombres busquen al Señor, Y todos los gentiles sobre los cuales es invocado mi nombre,18Dice el Señor, que hace conocer estas cosas desde el principio.19Por lo cual, yo juzgo que no se añadan dificultades a los que de los gentiles se convierten a Dios.20Solamente escribirles que se abstengan de las contaminaciones de los ídolos, de la fornicación, de lo estrangulado, y de la sangre.21Porque Moisés, desde generaciones antiguas, tiene en cada ciudad quienes lo prediquen, puesto que es leído en las sinagogas cada sábado.
El concilio a las iglesias
22Entonces pareció bien a los apóstoles y a los ancianos, con toda la iglesia, enviar de entre ellos varones escogidos a Antioquía con Pablo y Bernabé: a Judas, el que se llamaba Barsabás, y a Silas, varones prominentes entre los hermanos;23y escribir por mano de ellos: Los apóstoles y los ancianos, hermanos, a los hermanos de entre los gentiles que están en Antioquía, Siria y Cilicia, saludos.24Por cuanto hemos oído que algunos de nosotros, a los cuales no hemos comisionado, os inquietaron con palabras, perturbando vuestras almas,25nos pareció bien, habiendo llegado a estar unánimes, elegir a unos varones y enviarlos a vosotros con nuestros amados Bernabé y Pablo,26hombres que han expuesto su vida por el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesús, el Mesías.27Así que, hemos enviado a Judas y a Silas, y ellos os informarán de palabra de las mismas cosas.28Porque ha parecido bien al Espíritu Santo, y a nosotros, no imponeros carga alguna, excepto estas cosas necesarias:29Que os abstengáis de lo sacrificado a ídolos, de sangre, de cosas ahogadas y de fornicación. Separación de Pablo y Bernabé
36Después de algunos días, Pablo dijo a Bernabé: Volvamos a visitar a los hermanos de ciudad en ciudad, en todas aquellas en las que hemos anunciado la palabra del Señor, para ver cómo están.37Y Bernabé quería llevar consigo también a Juan, el que se llamaba Marcos.38Pablo, en cambio, no tenía por conveniente llevar consigo a aquél que los había abandonado desde Panfilia y no había ido con ellos a la obra.39Y hubo un desacuerdo tal, que se separaron el uno del otro: Bernabé, tomando a Marcos, se embarcó hacia Chipre;40y Pablo, escogiendo a Silas, salió encomendado por los hermanos a la gracia del Señor.41Y pasó por Siria y Cilicia confirmando a las iglesias.

(Hch 15:4; Hch 15:12; Hch 15:25)7And after there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. (Dt 7:6; Is 43:21; Hch 15:7; Hch 18:10; Ro 9:24)15And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written,16“‘After this I will return, and I will rebuild the tent of David that has fallen; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will restore it, (Jer 12:15; Am 9:11)17that the remnant[2] of mankind may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who are called by my name, says the Lord, who makes these things (Is 43:7; Jer 14:9; Dn 9:19; Hch 17:27)18known from of old.’ (Is 45:21)19Therefore my judgment is that we should not trouble those of the Gentiles who turn to God, (Hch 14:15; Hch 15:28)20but should write to them to abstain from the things polluted by idols, and from sexual immorality, and from what has been strangled, and from blood. The Council’s Letter to Gentile Believers
22Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They sent Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brothers, (Hch 1:23; Hch 15:1; Hch 15:2; 1 P 5:12)23with the following letter: “The brothers, both the apostles and the elders, to the brothers[3] who are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, greetings. (Hch 15:22; Hch 23:26; Stg 1:1; 2 Jn 1:10)24Since we have heard that some persons have gone out from us and troubled you[4] with words, unsettling your minds, although we gave them no instructions, (Hch 15:1; Gl 1:7; Gl 2:4; Gl 5:10; Gl 5:12; Tit 1:10)25it has seemed good to us, having come to one accord, to choose men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, (Hch 1:14; 2 P 3:15)26men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Hch 9:23; Hch 14:19; Hch 20:24; Hch 21:13; 2 Co 4:11; 1 Jn 3:16)27We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who themselves will tell you the same things by word of mouth. (Hch 15:22; Hch 15:32)28For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay on you no greater burden than these requirements: (Jn 16:13; Hch 5:32; Hch 15:8; Hch 15:10; Hch 15:19; 1 Co 7:40; Ap 2:24)29that you abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.” (Hch 15:20; Hch 21:25; 1 Co 8:1; 1 Co 8:4; 1 Co 8:7; 1 Co 8:10; 1 Co 10:19; Ap 2:14; Ap 2:20)30So when they were sent off, they went down to Antioch, and having gathered the congregation together, they delivered the letter.31And when they had read it, they rejoiced because of its encouragement.32And Judas and Silas, who were themselves prophets, encouraged and strengthened the brothers with many words. (Hch 13:1; Hch 14:22; Hch 15:1)33And after they had spent some time, they were sent off in peace by the brothers to those who had sent them.[5] (Gn 26:29; Hch 15:32; 1 Co 16:11; Heb 11:31)35But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also. Paul and Barnabas Separate
36And after some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us return and visit the brothers in every city where we proclaimed the word of the Lord, and see how they are.” (Hch 13:4; Hch 13:13; Hch 13:51; Hch 14:6; Hch 14:24; Hch 15:32)37Now Barnabas wanted to take with them John called Mark. (Hch 12:12)38But Paul thought best not to take with them one who had withdrawn from them in Pamphylia and had not gone with them to the work. (Hch 13:13)39And there arose a sharp disagreement, so that they separated from each other. Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus, (Hch 17:16; Col 4:10)40but Paul chose Silas and departed, having been commended by the brothers to the grace of the Lord. (Hch 11:23; Hch 14:26; Hch 15:1; Hch 15:11; Ro 16:20)41And he went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches. (Hch 15:32; Hch 16:5)
