1Porque sabemos que si nuestra casa terrenal, este tabernáculo, es destruida, tenemos de Dios un edificio, una casa no hecha por manos, eterna, en los cielos.2Y estando así gemimos, anhelando ser revestidos de nuestra habitación celestial,3pues así, aunque desvestidos, no seremos hallados desnudos.4Porque los que aún estamos en este tabernáculo, gemimos con angustia, por cuanto no queremos ser desvestidos, sino revestidos, para que lo mortal sea absorbido por la vida.5Y el que nos destinó a eso mismo es Dios; quien nos dio las arras del Espíritu.6Así que, estamos confiados siempre, sabiendo que al estar presentes en el cuerpo, estamos ausentes del Señor7(porque vivimos por fe, no por vista);8pero estamos confiados, aunque más preferimos salir del cuerpo y estar junto al Señor.9Por lo cual también procuramos, ya presentes, o ausentes, serle agradables,10porque es necesario que todos nosotros comparezcamos ante el tribunal del Mesías, para que cada uno recoja lo que practicó estando en el cuerpo, sea bueno o malo.
La palabra de la reconciliación
11Conociendo pues el temor del Señor, persuadimos a los hombres. Ante Dios hemos sido hechos manifiestos, y espero que también ante vuestras conciencias sea manifiesto.12No nos recomendamos otra vez a vosotros, sino que os damos ocasión de que vosotros os gloriéis por nosotros, para que tengáis qué responder a los que se glorían en la apariencia, y no en el corazón.13Porque si estamos locos, es para Dios; y si estamos cuerdos, es para vosotros.14Porque el amor del Mesías nos constriñe, pensando esto: que si Uno murió por todos, entonces todos murieron;15y por todos murió, para que los que viven, ya no vivan para sí, sino para Aquél que murió y resucitó por ellos.16De manera que nosotros, de aquí en adelante, a nadie conocemos según la carne; y si aun al Mesías conocimos según la carne, ya no lo conocemos así.17De modo que si alguno es nueva criatura en el Mesías, las cosas viejas pasaron; he aquí, son hechas nuevas.18Y todo esto proviene de Dios, quien nos reconcilió consigo mismo por el Mesías, y nos confió el ministerio de la reconciliación:19Esto es, que Dios estaba en el Mesías reconciliando al mundo consigo mismo, no tomándoles en cuenta sus pecados, y puso en nosotros la palabra de la reconciliación.20Así que, somos embajadores en nombre del Mesías, como si Dios rogara por medio de nosotros: ¡Rogamos en nombre del Mesías, reconciliaos con Dios!21Al que no conoció pecado, por nosotros lo hizo pecado, para que nosotros llegáramos a ser justicia de Dios en Él.

We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, (Heb 11:13)7for we walk by faith, not by sight. (Jn 20:29; 1 Co 13:12; 2 Co 4:18)8Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. (Flp 1:23)9So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. (Col 1:10; 1 Ts 4:1)10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil. (Sal 62:12; Mt 25:31; Hch 10:42; Ro 14:10)
The Ministry of Reconciliation
11Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others. But what we are is known to God, and I hope it is known also to your conscience. (Job 31:23; Hch 9:31; 2 Co 4:2; Heb 10:31; Jud 1:23)12We are not commending ourselves to you again but giving you cause to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast about outward appearance and not about what is in the heart. (2 Co 1:14; 2 Co 3:1)13For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. (2 Co 11:1; 2 Co 11:16; 2 Co 12:6; 2 Co 12:11)14For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; (Hch 18:5; Ro 5:15)15and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. (Ro 6:11; Ro 14:7; 2 Co 12:10)16From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. (Gl 2:6; Flp 3:7; Col 2:11; 1 Ti 5:21)17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.[2] The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. (Is 43:18; Is 65:17; Jn 3:3; Ro 6:4; Ro 16:7; 2 Co 12:2; Gl 1:22; Ef 2:15; Ef 4:24; Heb 8:13; Ap 21:5)18All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; (Ro 5:10; Ro 5:11; Col 1:20; 1 Jn 2:2)19that is, in Christ God was reconciling[3] the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. (Sal 32:2; Ro 4:8; 2 Co 5:18)20Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. (Mal 2:7; 2 Co 6:1; Gl 4:14; Ef 6:20)21For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (Ro 1:17; Ro 4:25; Ro 8:3; 1 Co 1:30; Gl 3:13; 1 P 2:22)
