1Exhorto pues, ante todo, que sean hechas peticiones, oraciones, súplicas, acciones de gracias, por todos los hombres,2por los reyes y por todos los que están en eminencia, a fin de que podamos vivir quieta y sosegadamente, con toda piedad y dignidad.3Esto es bueno y aceptable delante de Dios nuestro Salvador,4el cual desea que todos los hombres sean salvos y lleguen al pleno conocimiento de la verdad,5pues hay un solo Dios y un solo mediador entre Dios y los hombres: Jesús el hombre, el Mesías,6el cual se dio a sí mismo en rescate por todos, cuyo testimonio fue dado en sus propios tiempos;7para lo cual yo fui puesto como predicador y apóstol (digo verdad, no miento), maestro de los gentiles en fe y verdad.8Quiero pues que los varones oren en todo lugar, levantando manos santas, sin ira ni contienda.
A las mujeres creyentes
9Asimismo, que las mujeres se atavíen con ropa decorosa, con sensatez y decencia, no con peinados ostentosos, ni oro, ni perlas, ni ropa costosa;10sino con buenas obras, lo cual conviene a mujeres que profesan la piedad.11La mujer aprenda en silencio, con toda sumisión,12porque no permito a la mujer enseñar ni ejercer autoridad sobre el varón, sino estar en silencio.13Porque Adán fue formado primero, luego Eva.14Y Adán no fue engañado, sino que la mujer, siendo engañada, cayó en la transgresión.15Pero será preservada mediante la procreación, si permanecen con modestia en la fe, el amor y la santificación.
1First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,2for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. (Hch 9:15; Ro 9:1; Ef 3:7; 1 Ti 1:11; 2 Ti 1:11)8I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling; (Job 17:9; Sal 24:4; Sal 63:4; Sal 119:48; Is 1:15; Jn 4:21)9likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, (Is 3:18; 1 P 3:3)10but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works. (1 P 3:4)11Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. (Tit 2:5)12I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. (1 Co 14:34)13For Adam was formed first, then Eve; (Gn 1:27; Gn 2:8; Gn 2:18; Gn 2:22)14and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. (Gn 3:6; Gn 3:13)15Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control. (Gl 4:4; 1 Ti 1:14)
