1Saúl dijo a su hijo Jonatán y a todos sus siervos que dieran muerte a David; pero Jonatán ben Saúl amaba a David en gran manera.2Y habló Jonatán a David, diciendo: Mi padre Saúl procura matarte. Te ruego, ten cuidado por la mañana, quédate en un lugar secreto y escóndete.3Y yo saldré y me pondré junto a mi padre en el campo donde tú estés, y yo hablaré de ti a mi padre, y veré qué responde, y te lo haré saber.4Y Jonatán habló bien de David a su padre Saúl, y le dijo: No peque el rey contra su siervo, contra David, pues él no ha pecado contra ti, y ha obrado muy bien para contigo,5por cuanto él puso su vida en la palma de su mano y mató al filisteo, y YHVH otorgó una gran victoria a todo Israel. Tú lo viste y te alegraste de ello. ¿Por qué entonces quieres pecar contra sangre inocente matando a David sin causa alguna?6Y escuchó Saúl la voz de Jonatán, y juró Saúl: ¡Vive YHVH que no será muerto!7Y Jonatán llamó a David y le contó todas esas cosas; y él mismo llevó a David ante Saúl, y estuvo delante de él como en días anteriores.8Y estalló nuevamente la guerra, y David salió y combatió contra los filisteos, y los mató con gran matanza, y huyeron delante de él.9Pero el espíritu malo de parte de YHVH vino otra vez sobre Saúl estando él sentado en su casa con su lanza en la mano, mientras David tañía con la mano.10Y procuró Saúl clavar con la lanza a David en la pared, pero él se escurrió ante Saúl, y la lanza se clavó en la pared, en tanto que David huía poniéndose a salvo aquella noche.11Pero Saúl envió emisarios a casa de David para que lo acecharan y lo mataran por la mañana, y Mical, la mujer de David le advirtió diciendo: Si no salvas tu vida esta noche, mañana estarás muerto.12Y Mical hizo que David bajara por la ventana, y él salió huyendo y se puso a salvo.13Y tomó Mical un ídolo doméstico y lo colocó en el lecho, y le puso en la cabecera un paño de pelo de cabra, y lo cubrió con un cobertor.14Y cuando Saúl envió emisarios para prender a David, ella dijo: Está enfermo.15Por lo cual Saúl volvió a enviar a los emisarios a ver a David, diciendo: ¡Traédmelo en su mismo lecho para que lo mate!16Pero cuando entraron los emisarios, ¡he aquí en el lecho el ídolo doméstico con el paño de pelo de cabra en la cabecera!17Y dijo Saúl a Mical: ¿Por qué me has engañado así, dejando ir a mi enemigo para que se escapara? Mical respondió a Saúl: Porque él me dijo: ¡Déjame escapar! ¿Por qué he de matarte?18Así pues, David huyó y se escapó y llegó a donde Samuel en Ramá, y le refirió todo cuanto Saúl le había hecho. Luego él partió con Samuel y moraron en Nayot.19Y se le anunció a Saúl, diciendo: He aquí David está en Nayot de Ramá.20Envió entonces Saúl emisarios para prender a David, los cuales vieron un grupo de profetas que profetizaban, y a Samuel erguido entre ellos que los presidía. Y el Espíritu de Dios vino sobre los emisarios de Saúl, y ellos también profetizaron.21E informaron a Saúl, y envió otros emisarios, y también ellos profetizaron. Volvió Saúl a enviar emisarios por tercera vez, y también éstos profetizaron.22Entonces él mismo marchó a Ramá, y llegando a la gran cisterna que está en Secú, preguntó diciendo: ¿Dónde están Samuel y David? Y uno dijo: He aquí que están en Nayot de Ramá.23Y fue allá, a Nayot de Ramá, y el Espíritu de Dios vino sobre él, y siguió andando y profetizando hasta que llegó a Nayot de Ramá.24Se quitó además sus vestiduras y profetizó de la misma manera en presencia de Samuel. Todo aquel día y toda aquella noche estuvo echado desnudo. Por esto se suele decir: ¿También Saúl entre los profetas?
1And Saul spoke to Jonathan his son and to all his servants, that they should kill David. But Jonathan, Saul’s son, delighted much in David. (1 S 18:1)2And Jonathan told David, “Saul my father seeks to kill you. Therefore be on your guard in the morning. Stay in a secret place and hide yourself.3And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will speak to my father about you. And if I learn anything I will tell you.”4And Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul his father and said to him, “Let not the king sin against his servant David, because he has not sinned against you, and because his deeds have brought good to you. (Gn 42:22)5For he took his life in his hand and he struck down the Philistine, and the Lord worked a great salvation for all Israel. You saw it, and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against innocent blood by killing David without cause?” (Jue 9:17; Jue 12:3; 1 S 11:13; 1 S 17:49; 1 S 28:21; 1 Cr 11:14; Mt 27:4)6And Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan. Saul swore, “As the Lord lives, he shall not be put to death.” (Rt 3:13)7And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan reported to him all these things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence as before. (1 S 16:21; 1 S 18:2; 1 S 18:13)8And there was war again. And David went out and fought with the Philistines and struck them with a great blow, so that they fled before him.9Then a harmful spirit from the Lord came upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand. And David was playing the lyre. (1 S 16:14; 1 S 16:16)10And Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he eluded Saul, so that he struck the spear into the wall. And David fled and escaped that night. (1 S 18:11; 1 S 20:33)11Saul sent messengers to David’s house to watch him, that he might kill him in the morning. But Michal, David’s wife, told him, “If you do not escape with your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.”12So Michal let David down through the window, and he fled away and escaped. (Jos 2:15; Hch 9:24; 2 Co 11:33)13Michal took an image[1] and laid it on the bed and put a pillow of goats’ hair at its head and covered it with the clothes. (Gn 31:19)14And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, “He is sick.”15Then Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying, “Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him.”16And when the messengers came in, behold, the image was in the bed, with the pillow of goats’ hair at its head. (1 S 19:13)17Saul said to Michal, “Why have you deceived me thus and let my enemy go, so that he has escaped?” And Michal answered Saul, “He said to me, ‘Let me go. Why should I kill you?’” (2 S 2:22)18Now David fled and escaped, and he came to Samuel at Ramah and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and lived at Naioth. (1 S 1:19)19And it was told Saul, “Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.”20Then Saul sent messengers to take David, and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied. (Nm 11:25; 1 S 10:5; 1 S 10:10; Jl 2:28)21When it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied. (1 S 19:20)22Then he himself went to Ramah and came to the great well that is in Secu. And he asked, “Where are Samuel and David?” And one said, “Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah.” (1 S 19:18)23And he went there to Naioth in Ramah. And the Spirit of God came upon him also, and as he went he prophesied until he came to Naioth in Ramah. (1 S 18:10)24And he too stripped off his clothes, and he too prophesied before Samuel and lay naked all that day and all that night. Thus it is said, “Is Saul also among the prophets?” (1 S 10:11; 2 S 6:20; Is 20:2; Miq 1:8)
