1-2Herrens Ande är över mig. Herren har smort mig att komma med goda nyheter till alla som lider och har det svårt. Han har sänt mig för att trösta dem som är sorgsna, att förkunna frihet för dem som är fångar och att öppna de blindas ögon. Han har sänt mig för att tala om för dem som sörjer att tiden har kommit då Guds välbehag vilar över dem, och att vredens dag är inne för deras fiender.3Åt alla som gråter i Israel ska han ge skönhet i stället för aska, glädje i stället för sorg, lovsång i stället för hopplöshet. Gud har planterat dem, och de står där i rättfärdighet, som starka och sköna ekar till hans ära.4De ska bygga upp de gamla ruinerna och reparera de städer som länge legat öde. De ska återuppliva dem trots att de varit tomma i flera generationer.5Utlänningar ska bli era tjänare. De ska valla era hjordar, plöja era åkrar och sköta era vingårdar.6Ni ska kallas Herrens präster, vår Guds tjänare. Ni ska få rikligt med skatter från många nationer, och deras rikedomar ska bli till glädje för er.7I stället för skam och vanära ska ni få dubbelt igen av allt gott.8Jag, Herren, älskar rättvisa. Jag hatar brott och allt som är orätt. Jag ska troget belöna mitt folk för deras lidande och ingå ett evigt förbund med dem.9Deras ättlingar ska bli kända och ärade bland alla folk. Alla ska inse att de är ett folk som Gud har välsignat.10Låt mig tala om för er hur glad Gud har gjort mig! Han har klätt mig i frälsningens mantel och i rättfärdighetens dräkt. Jag är som en brudgum uppklädd för bröllopet och som en brud smyckad med alla sina juveler.11Herren ska visa världens folk sin rättvisa. Alla ska prisa honom. Hans rättfärdighet ska vara som ett knoppande träd eller som en trädgård tidigt på våren, full av plantor som växer upp inför alla folk.
1The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor;[1] he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;[2] (Ps 45:7; Ps 146:7; Jes 11:2; Jes 42:1; Jes 45:13; Jes 48:16; Luk 4:18)2to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; (3 Mos 25:10; Jes 34:8)3to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.[3] (Ps 45:7; Jes 28:5; Jes 60:21; Jes 61:10; Joh 15:8; Heb 1:9)4They shall build up the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former devastations; they shall repair the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations. (Jes 58:12; Am 9:14)5Strangers shall stand and tend your flocks; foreigners shall be your plowmen and vinedressers; (Jes 14:2; Jes 60:10)6but you shall be called the priests of the Lord; they shall speak of you as the ministers of our God; you shall eat the wealth of the nations, and in their glory you shall boast. (2 Mos 19:6; Jes 60:5; Jes 60:11; Jes 60:16; Joel 1:9; 1 Pet 2:9)7Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion; instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot; therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion; they shall have everlasting joy. (Jes 40:2; Jes 54:7; Sak 9:12)8For I the Lord love justice; I hate robbery and wrong;[4] I will faithfully give them their recompense, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them. (Ps 11:7; Jes 40:10; Jes 49:4; Jes 55:3; Jes 59:15)9Their offspring shall be known among the nations, and their descendants in the midst of the peoples; all who see them shall acknowledge them, that they are an offspring the Lord has blessed.10I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. (Jes 49:18; Jes 59:17; Jes 61:3; Hab 3:18; Sak 3:4; Upp 21:2)11For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations.
