1The allotment for the tribe of the people of Judah according to their clans reached southward to the boundary of Edom, to the wilderness of Zin at the farthest south. (4.Mos 33,36; 4.Mos 34,3)2And their south boundary ran from the end of the Salt Sea, from the bay that faces southward. (Josva 15,1)3It goes out southward of the ascent of Akrabbim, passes along to Zin, and goes up south of Kadesh-barnea, along by Hezron, up to Addar, turns about to Karka, (4.Mos 34,4; Dom 1,36)4passes along to Azmon, goes out by the Brook of Egypt, and comes to its end at the sea. This shall be your south boundary. (4.Mos 34,5; Josva 13,3; Josva 15,47)5And the east boundary is the Salt Sea, to the mouth of the Jordan. And the boundary on the north side runs from the bay of the sea at the mouth of the Jordan. (Josva 15,1)6And the boundary goes up to Beth-hoglah and passes along north of Beth-arabah. And the boundary goes up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben. (Josva 18,17; Josva 18,18; Josva 18,19; Josva 18,21; Josva 18,22)7And the boundary goes up to Debir from the Valley of Achor, and so northward, turning toward Gilgal, which is opposite the ascent of Adummim, which is on the south side of the valley. And the boundary passes along to the waters of En-shemesh and ends at En-rogel. (Josva 7,26; Josva 18,16; Josva 18,17; 2.Sam 17,17; 1.Kong 1,9)8Then the boundary goes up by the Valley of the Son of Hinnom at the southern shoulder of the Jebusite (that is, Jerusalem). And the boundary goes up to the top of the mountain that lies over against the Valley of Hinnom, on the west, at the northern end of the Valley of Rephaim. (Josva 12,4; Josva 15,63; Josva 18,16; Josva 18,28; Dom 19,10; 2.Kong 23,10; 1.Krøn 11,4)9Then the boundary extends from the top of the mountain to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah, and from there to the cities of Mount Ephron. Then the boundary bends around to Baalah (that is, Kiriath-jearim). (Josva 15,60; Josva 18,15; 1.Krøn 13,6)10And the boundary circles west of Baalah to Mount Seir, passes along to the northern shoulder of Mount Jearim (that is, Chesalon), and goes down to Beth-shemesh and passes along by Timnah. (1.Mos 38,12; Dom 14,1; 1.Sam 6,9; 1.Sam 6,12)11The boundary goes out to the shoulder of the hill north of Ekron, then the boundary bends around to Shikkeron and passes along to Mount Baalah and goes out to Jabneel. Then the boundary comes to an end at the sea. (Josva 13,3; Josva 15,9)12And the west boundary was the Great Sea with its coastline. This is the boundary around the people of Judah according to their clans. (4.Mos 34,6; Josva 15,47; Josva 23,4; Ez 47,20)13According to the commandment of the Lord to Joshua, he gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh a portion among the people of Judah, Kiriath-arba, that is, Hebron (Arba was the father of Anak). (Josva 14,13; Josva 15,54)14And Caleb drove out from there the three sons of Anak, Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai, the descendants of Anak. (4.Mos 13,22; Dom 1,10; Dom 1,20)15And he went up from there against the inhabitants of Debir. Now the name of Debir formerly was Kiriath-sepher. (Josva 15,49; Dom 1,11)16And Caleb said, “Whoever strikes Kiriath-sepher and captures it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter as wife.”17And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, captured it. And he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife. (Josva 14,6; Josva 14,13; Dom 1,13)18When she came to him, she urged him to ask her father for a field. And she got off her donkey, and Caleb said to her, “What do you want?”19She said to him, “Give me a blessing. Since you have given me the land of the Negeb, give me also springs of water.” And he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.20This is the inheritance of the tribe of the people of Judah according to their clans.21The cities belonging to the tribe of the people of Judah in the extreme south, toward the boundary of Edom, were Kabzeel, Eder, Jagur, (1.Mos 35,21)22Kinah, Dimonah, Adadah,23Kedesh, Hazor, Ithnan,24Ziph, Telem, Bealoth, (1.Sam 23,14; 1.Sam 23,19; 1.Sam 23,24; 1.Sam 26,1)25Hazor-hadattah, Kerioth-hezron (that is, Hazor),26Amam, Shema, Moladah,27Hazar-gaddah, Heshmon, Beth-pelet,28Hazar-shual, Beersheba, Biziothiah, (1.Mos 21,31; 1.Mos 26,23; 1.Mos 26,33)29Baalah, Iim, Ezem,30Eltolad, Chesil, Hormah,31Ziklag, Madmannah, Sansannah, (1.Sam 27,6; 1.Sam 30,1)32Lebaoth, Shilhim, Ain, and Rimmon: in all, twenty-nine cities with their villages.33And in the lowland, Eshtaol, Zorah, Ashnah, (4.Mos 13,23)34Zanoah, En-gannim, Tappuah, Enam,35Jarmuth, Adullam, Socoh, Azekah, (Josva 10,3; 1.Sam 17,1; 1.Sam 22,1)36Shaaraim, Adithaim, Gederah, Gederothaim: fourteen cities with their villages.37Zenan, Hadashah, Migdal-gad,38Dilean, Mizpeh, Joktheel,39Lachish, Bozkath, Eglon, (Josva 10,3; Josva 10,31; Josva 10,36)40Cabbon, Lahmam, Chitlish,41Gederoth, Beth-dagon, Naamah, and Makkedah: sixteen cities with their villages.
