1På den tiende dag i den tiende måned i det niende[1] år af vores eksil sagde Herren til mig: (2.Kong 25,1)2„Du menneske, skriv denne dato ned, for i dag begynder Babylons konge belejringen af Jerusalem.3Fortæl så mit oprørske folk Israel den her lignelse: Hør, hvad Herren siger: Sæt en gryde over ilden og hæld vand i den.4-5Læg så kødstykkerne i: bov, nakke og gode ben, alt det bedste af dyret. Læg godt med brænde under og lad det koge, til det hele er mørt.[2]6Gud Herren siger nemlig: Byen, som er fuld af mordere, får nu sin straf. Den er som en anløben kobbergryde. Tag kødet op af gryden, stykke for stykke uden at gøre forskel.7Byen er fuld af mordere, og de myrdedes blod blev ikke opslugt af jorden, men ligger synligt på en klippe.8Det ligger stadig utildækket som en anklage imod byen, og det vækker min vrede, det råber til mig om hævn.9Derfor siger Herren: Byen, som er fuld af mordere, får nu sin straf. Jeg vil selv samle en stor bunke brænde til bålet.10Kom med brændet og sæt ild til bålet. Sørg for at koge kødet mørt. Tøm så gryden og brænd benene på bålet.11Sæt derefter den tomme gryde tilbage på gløderne, så kobberet bliver gloende hedt og grydens urenheder smeltes væk.12Jeg blev træt af at forsøge at skrabe gryden ren, for det hjalp jo ikke, og derfor var jeg nødt til at sætte gryden på ilden.13Byens umoral gjorde den uren. Jeg forsøgte at rense jer, men I blev ikke rene. I bliver ikke rensede, før I har været i min voldsomme vredes ild.14Jeg, Herren, har talt, og det vil ske, som jeg har sagt. Jeg fortryder ikke min dom, og standser ikke min straf. I skal få, hvad I har fortjent for jeres handlinger, siger Herren!”
Ezekiels kone dør som billede på templets ødelæggelse
15Derpå sagde Herren til mig:16„Du menneske, i dag tager jeg din elskede kone fra dig ved en brat død. Men du må ikke holde dødsklage eller græde,17men må nøjes med at sukke i stilhed. Tag som sædvanlig din turban og dine sandaler på. Du må ikke vise din sorg ved at tildække dit skæg eller spise den mad, dine naboer og venner bringer dig som trøst.”18Tidligt om morgenen havde jeg givet mit budskab til folket, og allerede samme aften døde min kone. Den følgende morgen gjorde jeg, som Herren havde givet mig besked på.19Da spurgte folk: „Hvad i alverden skal det betyde? Hvad er det, du prøver at fortælle os?”20-21Jeg svarede: „Herren sagde til mig, at jeg skulle sige til Israels folk: Jeg vil ødelægge mit elskede tempel, som I beundrer og er så stolte af og længes efter at se igen. Jeres sønner og døtre, som I efterlod i Jerusalem, vil falde i krigen.22Når I modtager nyheden, skal I gøre, som Ezekiel gør nu. I må ikke tildække jeres skæg eller spise den mad, som andre vil trøste jer med.23I skal gå med turban og sandaler, som I plejer, og I må ikke græde og klage. I må nøjes med at sukke i stilhed over alle jeres synder.24Lad Ezekiels opførsel være et forvarsel, siger Herren. I kommer til at gøre som ham, når det sker, og så vil I indse, at jeg er Herren.”25Herren fortsatte: „Du menneske, jeg tager deres prægtige tempel fra dem, deres stolthed og glæde, som de beundrede så højt og længtes efter at se igen. Jeg tager også deres sønner og døtre fra dem.26Når det sker, kommer der en flygtning fra Jerusalem til Babylon og fortæller dig om det.27Da får du igen mund og mæle, så du kan tale. Du skal altså være et forvarsel om det, der skal overgå folket, så de kan indse, at jeg er Herren.”
1In the ninth year, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me: (Ez 20,1)2“Son of man, write down the name of this day, this very day. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day. (1.Sam 9,24)5Take the choicest one of the flock; pile the logs[1] under it; boil it well; seethe also its bones in it.6“Therefore thus says the Lord God: Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose corrosion is in it, and whose corrosion has not gone out of it! Take out of it piece after piece, without making any choice.[2] (Ez 22,2; Ez 24,3; Nah 3,1)7For the blood she has shed is in her midst; she put it on the bare rock; she did not pour it out on the ground to cover it with dust. (3.Mos 17,13; 5.Mos 12,16; 5.Mos 12,24; Ez 26,4; Ez 26,14)8To rouse my wrath, to take vengeance, I have set on the bare rock the blood she has shed, that it may not be covered.9Therefore thus says the Lord God: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great. (Es 30,33)10Heap on the logs, kindle the fire, boil the meat well, mix in the spices,[3] and let the bones be burned up.11Then set it empty upon the coals, that it may become hot, and its copper may burn, that its uncleanness may be melted in it, its corrosion consumed. (Ez 22,15)12She has wearied herself with toil;[4] its abundant corrosion does not go out of it. Into the fire with its corrosion! (Jer 2,22)13On account of your unclean lewdness, because I would have cleansed you and you were not cleansed from your uncleanness, you shall not be cleansed anymore till I have satisfied my fury upon you. (Es 22,14; Ez 5,13)14I am the Lord. I have spoken; it shall come to pass; I will do it. Ezekiel’s Wife Dies
15The word of the Lord came to me:16“Son of man, behold, I am about to take the delight of your eyes away from you at a stroke; yet you shall not mourn or weep, nor shall your tears run down. (Ez 2,1)17Sigh, but not aloud; make no mourning for the dead. Bind on your turban, and put your shoes on your feet; do not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.” (3.Mos 10,6; 2.Sam 15,30; Es 20,2; Jer 16,5; Hos 9,4)18So I spoke to the people in the morning, and at evening my wife died. And on the next morning I did as I was commanded. (Ez 12,7; Ez 24,16; Ez 37,7)19And the people said to me, “Will you not tell us what these things mean for us, that you are acting thus?” (Ez 12,9)20Then I said to them, “The word of the Lord came to me:21‘Say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the delight of your eyes, and the yearning of your soul, and your sons and your daughters whom you left behind shall fall by the sword. (Ez 12,11; Ez 24,17)23Your turbans shall be on your heads and your shoes on your feet; you shall not mourn or weep, but you shall rot away in your iniquities and groan to one another. (Ez 4,17; Ez 24,22)24Thus shall Ezekiel be to you a sign; according to all that he has done you shall do. When this comes, then you will know that I am the Lord God.’ (Ez 4,3; Ez 6,7; Ez 24,22; Ez 24,27)25“As for you, son of man, surely on the day when I take from them their stronghold, their joy and glory, the delight of their eyes and their soul’s desire, and also their sons and daughters, (Ez 2,1; Ez 24,21)26on that day a fugitive will come to you to report to you the news. (Ez 33,21)27On that day your mouth will be opened to the fugitive, and you shall speak and be no longer mute.
