1 To když uslyšel Kananejský král v Arad, kterýž bydlil na poledne, že by táhl Izrael tou cestou, kterouž byli špehéři šli, bojoval s ním, a zajal jich množství. 2 Tedy Izrael učinil slib Hospodinu, řka: Jestliže dáš lid tento v ruce mé, do gruntu zkazím města jejich. 3 I uslyšel Hospodin hlas Izraele a dal mu Kananejské, kterýžto do gruntu zkazil je i města jejich, a nazval jméno toho místa Horma. 4 Potom hnuli se s hory Hor cestou k moři Rudému, aby obešli zemi Idumejskou; i ustával lid velice na cestě. 5 A mluvil lid proti Bohu a proti Mojžíšovi: Proč jste vyvedli nás z Egypta, abychom zemřeli na poušti? Nebo ani chleba ani vody není, a duše naše chléb tento ničemný sobě již zošklivila. 6 Protož dopustil Hospodin na lid hady ohnivé, kteříž jej štípali, tak že množství lidu zemřelo z Izraele. 7 Tedy přišel lid k Mojžíšovi a řekli: Zhřešili jsme nebo jsme mluvili proti Hospodinu a proti tobě; modl se Hospodinu, ať odejme od nás ty hady. I modlil se Mojžíš za lid. 8 I řekl Hospodin Mojžíšovi: Udělej sobě hada podobného těm ohnivým, a vyzdvihni jej na sochu; a každý ušťknutý, když pohledí na něj, živ bude. 9 I udělal Mojžíš hada měděného, a vyzdvihl jej na sochu; a stalo se, když ušťkl had někoho, a on vzhlédl na hada měděného, že zůstal živ. 10 Tedy hnuli se odtud synové Izraelští, a položili se v Obot. 11 Potom pak hnuvše se z Obot, položili se při pahrbcích hor Abarim na poušti, kteráž jest naproti zemi Moábské k východu slunce. 12 Odtud brali se, a položili se v údolí Záred. 13 Opět hnuvše se odtud, položili se u brodu potoka Arnon, kterýž jest na poušti, a vychází z končin Amorejských. Nebo Arnon jest pomezí Moábské mezi Moábskými a Amorejskými. 14 Protož praví se v knize bojů Hospodinových, že proti Vahebovi u vichřici bojoval, a proti potokům Arnon. 15 Nebo tok těch potoků, kterýž se nachyluje ku položení Ar, ten jde vedlé pomezí Moábského. 16 A odtud táhli do Beer; a to jest to Beer, o němž byl řekl Hospodin k Mojžíšovi: Shromažď lid, a dám jim vodu. 17 Tedy zpíval lid Izraelský písničku tuto: Vystupiž studnice, prozpěvujte o ní; 18 Studnice, kterouž kopala knížata, kterouž vykopali přední z lidu s vydavatelem zákona holemi svými. Z pouště pak brali se do Matana, 19 A z Matana do Nahaliel, z Nahaliel do Bamot, 20 A z Bamot do údolí, kteréž jest na poli Moábském, až k vrchu hory, kteráž leží na proti poušti. 21 Tedy poslal lid Izraelský posly k Seonovi králi Amorejskému, řka: 22 Nechť jdeme skrze zemi tvou. Neuchýlíme se ani do pole, ani do vinic, ani z studnic vody píti nebudeme, ale cestou královskou půjdeme, dokavadž nepřejdeme pomezí tvého. 23 I nedopustil Seon jíti lidu Izraelskému skrze krajinu svou, nýbrž sebrav Seon všecken lid svůj, vytáhl proti lidu Izraelskému na poušť, a přitáh do Jasa, bojoval proti Izraelovi. 24 I porazil jej lid Izraelský mečem, a vzal v dědictví zemi jeho, od Arnon až do Jabok, a až do země synů Ammon; nebo pevné bylo pomezí Ammonitských. 25 Tedy vzal Izrael všecka ta města, a přebýval ve všech městech Amorejských, v Ezebon a ve všech městečkách jeho. 26 Nebo Ezebon bylo město Seona krále Amorejského, kterýž když bojoval proti králi Moábskému prvnímu, vzal mu všecku zemi jeho z rukou jeho až do Arnon. 27 Protož říkávali v přísloví: Poďte do Ezebon, aby vystaveno bylo a vzděláno město Seonovo. 28 Nebo oheň vyšel z Ezebon, a plamen z města Seon, i spálil Ar Moábských a obyvatele výsosti Arnon. 29 Běda tobě Moáb, zahynuls lide Chámos; dal syny své v utíkání, a dcery své v zajetí králi Amorejskému Seonovi. 30 A království jejich zahynulo od Ezebon až do Dibon, a vyhladili jsme je až do Nofe, kteréž jest až k Medaba. 31 A tak bydlil Izrael v zemi Amorejské. 32 Potom poslal Mojžíš, aby shlédli Jazer, kteréž vzali i s městečky jeho; a tak vyhnal Amorejské, kteříž tam bydlili. 33 Obrátivše se pak, táhli cestou k Bázan. I vytáhl Og, král Bázan, proti nim, on i všecken lid jeho, aby bojoval v Edrei. 34 Tedy řekl Hospodin Mojžíšovi: Neboj se ho; nebo v ruce tvé dal jsem jej, i všecken lid jeho, i zemi jeho, a učiníš jemu tak, jakož jsi učinil Seonovi, králi Amorejskému, kterýž bydlil v Ezebon. 35 I porazili jej i syny jeho, i všecken lid jeho, tak že žádný živý po něm nezůstal, a uvázali se dědičně v zemi jeho.

1 Když uslyšel aradský král, Kenaanec sídlící v Negebu, že Izrael přichází cestou z Atárímu, dal se s Izraelem do boje a některé z nich zajal. 2 Tu se Izrael zavázal Hospodinu slibem: „Jestliže skutečně vydáš do mých rukou tento lid, zničím jejich města jako klatá.“ 3 Hospodin Izraele vyslyšel a Kenaance mu vydal. Vyhubil je i s jejich městy jako klaté a nazval to místo Chorma (to je Klatbě propadlé). 4 Z hory Hóru táhli dál cestou k Rákosovému moři, aby obešli edómskou zemi. Avšak lid propadl na té cestě malomyslnosti 5 a mluvil proti Bohu a proti Mojžíšovi: „Proč jste nás vyvedli z Egypta? Abyste nás na poušti umořili? Vždyť tu není chléb ani voda! Tato nuzná strava se nám už protiví.“ 6 I poslal Hospodin na lid ohnivé hady. Ti lid štípali, takže v Izraeli mnoho lidí pomřelo. 7 Lid přišel k Mojžíšovi a přiznával: „Zhřešili jsme, když jsme mluvili proti Hospodinu a proti tobě. Modli se k Hospodinu, aby nás těch hadů zbavil.“ Mojžíš se tedy za lid modlil. 8 Hospodin Mojžíšovi řekl: „Udělej si hada Ohnivce a připevni ho na žerď. Když se na něj kterýkoli uštknutý podívá, zůstane naživu.“ 9 Mojžíš tedy udělal bronzového hada a připevnil ho na žerď. Jestliže někoho uštkl had a on pohlédl na hada bronzového, zůstal naživu. 10 Izraelci táhli dál a utábořili se v Obótu. 11 Pak vytáhli z Obótu a utábořili se v Ijé-abárímu, na poušti ležící na východ od Moábu. 12 Odtud táhli dál a utábořili se v úvalu Zeredu. 13 Odtud táhli dál a utábořili se na druhé straně Arnónu, na poušti vycházející z emorejského území; Arnón je totiž moábskou hranicí mezi Moábem a Emorejci. 14 Proto se říká v Knize Hospodinových bojů: „Přemohl Vahéba v bouři i úvaly, Arnón 15 a sráz úvalů, který spadá tam, co sídlí Ar, který se dotýká pomezí moábského.“ 16 Odtud táhli do Beéru. To je Beér (neboli Studna), kde řekl Hospodin Mojžíšovi: „Shromáždi lid a já jim dám vodu.“ 17 Tehdy zpíval Izrael tuto píseň: „Vytryskni, studnice! Zazpívejte o ní! 18 Studnici kopali velmožové, hloubili ji urození z lidu palcátem a svými holemi.“ A z pouště táhli do Matany, 19 z Matany do Nachalíelu, z Nachalíelu do Bamótu, 20 z Bamótu do údolí v poli Moábském při vrcholu Pisgy, který vyčnívá nad pustinou Ješímónem.

— Vítězství nad Síchonem a Ógem - Izrael poráží dva emorejské krále a obsazuje jejich zemi.

21 Izrael vyslal k emorejskému králi Síchonovi posly se vzkazem: 22 „Chtěl bych projít tvou zemí. Neodbočíme do polí ani do vinic a nebudeme pít vodu ze studní. Půjdeme Královskou cestou, dokud neprojdeme tvým územím.“ 23 Síchon však Izraeli svým územím projít nedovolil, ale shromáždil všechen svůj lid a vytáhl proti Izraeli na poušť. Dorazil do Jahsy a bojoval s Izraelem. 24 Izrael ho však pobil ostřím meče a obsadil jeho zemi od Arnónu po Jabok až k Amónovcům; hranice Amónovců byla totiž pevná. 25 Izrael zabral všechna tato města. Tak se Izrael usadil ve všech emorejských městech i v Chešbónu a ve všech jeho vesnicích. 26 Chešbón byl totiž městem Síchona, krále emorejského. Ten bojoval proti někdejšímu moábskému králi a odňal z jeho rukou všechnu jeho zemi až k Arnónu. 27 Proto říkají průpovídkáři: „Vejděte do Chešbónu! Pěkně je vystavěno a opevněno Síchonovo město! 28 Avšak oheň vyšlehne z Chešbónu, plamen ze Síchonovy tvrze, pozře Ar Moábský, baaly posvátných návrší Arnónu. 29 Běda tobě, Moábe, jsi ztracen, lide Kemóšův! Učinil z jeho synů utečence, z jeho dcer zajatkyně Síchona, krále Emorejců. 30 Ale my jsme jim vrhli los. Zanikl Chešbón po Dibón, zpustošili jsme jej po Nófach, tam u Médeby.“ 31 Tak se Izrael usadil v emorejské zemi. 32 Mojžíš pak poslal zvědy, aby prošli Jaezer. Dobyli jeho vesnice a podrobili si Emorejce, kteří tam byli. 33 Nato se obrátili a vystoupili cestou k Bášanu. Bášanský král Óg vytáhl se vším svým lidem k boji proti nim do Edreí. 34 Hospodin však řekl Mojžíšovi: „Neboj se ho, neboť ho vydám do tvých rukou se vším jeho lidem i s jeho zemí. Naložíš s ním, jako jsi naložil se Síchonem, králem emorejským, sídlícím v Chešbónu.“ 35 A pobili ho i s jeho syny a všechen jeho lid, takže nikdo nevyvázl, a jeho zemi obsadili.

1 Když aradský král, Kanaánec sídlící v Negevu, uslyšel, že Izrael přichází atarimskou cestou, napadl Izrael a některé z nich zajal. 2 Izrael tehdy složil slib Hospodinu: „Vydáš-li tento lid do našich rukou, zničíme jejich města jako proklatá.“^[1] 3 Hospodin Izrael vyslyšel, vydal mu Kananejce a Izrael je i s jejich městy vyhladil jako proklaté. To místo pak nazvali Chorma, Klatba.

Bronzový had

4 Aby se vyhnuli edomské zemi, táhli od hory Hór směrem k Rudému moři. Lid ale na cestě ztratil trpělivost 5 a začal Bohu a Mojžíšovi vyčítat: „Proč jste nás odvedli z Egypta? Abychom zemřeli na poušti? Není tu chléb, není tu voda a ten mizerný pokrm se nám už hnusí!“ 6 Hospodin tedy na lid poslal jedovaté hady. Na jejich uštknutí mnoho lidí v Izraeli zemřelo. 7 Lid pak přišel k Mojžíši se slovy: „Zhřešili jsme, když jsme mluvili proti Hospodinu a proti tobě. Modli se k Hospodinu, ať nás zbaví těch hadů!“ A tak se Mojžíš za lid modlil. 8 Hospodin řekl Mojžíšovi: „Udělej si jedovatého hada a připevni ho na kůl. Každý, kdo se na něj podívá, bude žít.“ 9 Mojžíš tedy udělal bronzového hada a připevnil ho na kůl. Když někoho uštkl had a on se podíval na toho bronzového hada, zůstal naživu.

Cesta Zajordáním

10 Synové Izraele pak táhli dál a utábořili se v Obotu. 11 Z Obotu táhli dál a utábořili se v Ije-abarimu na poušti, která na východě sousedí s Moábem. 12 Odtud táhli dál a utábořili se v údolí Zered. 13 Odtud táhli dál a utábořili se na druhé straně řeky Arnon, na poušti, která vybíhá z emorejského území. (Arnon totiž tvoří hranici mezi Moábem a Emorejci.) 14 Kniha Hospodinových bojů se o něm zmiňuje: „Vaheb v Sufě a údolí Arnonu, 15 svahy údolí, jež se táhne ke vsi Ar a k moábské hranici se přimyká.“ 16 Odtud pak táhli do Beéru; to je ta studna, kde Hospodin řekl Mojžíšovi: „Shromáždi lid a dám jim vodu.“ 17 Tehdy Izrael zpíval tuto píseň: „Tryskej, studnice! Prozpěvujte o ní: 18 Vůdcové kopali studnici, přední z lidu ji hloubili žezlem a svými holemi.“ Z pouště pak táhli do Matany, 19 z Matany do Nachalielu, z Nachalielu do Bamotu 20 a z Bamotu ke strži v moábském kraji při vrcholu Pisgy tyčící se nad pustinou.

Porážka Sichona a Oga

21 Izrael vyslal posly k emorejskému králi Sichonovi se slovy: 22 „Chtěl bych projít tvou zemí. Neodbočíme do polí ani do vinic, nebudeme pít vodu ze studní. Půjdeme Královskou cestou, dokud nepřejdeme tvé území.“ 23 Sichon ale Izraeli nedovolil projít svým územím. Shromáždil všechen svůj lid a vytáhl proti Izraeli na poušť. Když dorazil do Jahcy, napadl Izrael. 24 Ten jej však porazil ostřím meče a obsadil jeho zem od Arnonu po Jabok, až k území Amonců (hranice Amonců byla totiž opevněná). 25 Tak Izrael zabral všechna emorejská města a usadil se v nich, včetně Chešbonu a všech jeho vesnic. 26 Chešbon byl městem emorejského krále Sichona, který bojoval s dřívějším králem Moábu a vzal mu všechnu jeho zem až po Arnon. 27 Proto vypravěči říkají: „Jen jděte do Chešbonu, zkuste ho vystavět, zkuste opevnit město Sichonovo! 28 Z Chešbonu totiž vyšlehl oheň, z města Sichonova plamen, jenž pohltil Ar Moábský, obyvatele arnonských návrší. 29 Běda tobě, Moábe! Kemošův^[2] lide, zahyneš! Ze svých synů učinil běžence, ze svých dcer zajatkyně Sichona, krále Emorejců. 30 Svrhli jsme je, zničeno vše od Chešbonu až k Dibonu; plenili jsme jej až k Nofachu, oheň plál až k Medebě.“ 31 Tak se Izrael usadil v zemi Emorejců. 32 Mojžíš poslal vyzvědače do Jaezeru. Dobyli jeho vesnice a vyhnali Emorejce, kteří tam bydleli. 33 Potom se obrátili a vydali se vzhůru směrem k Bášanu. Bášanský král Og však proti nim s celým svým lidem vytáhl a utkal se s nimi u Edrei. 34 Hospodin Mojžíšovi řekl: „Neboj se ho! Vydal jsem ho do tvých rukou s celým jeho lidem i s jeho zemí. Naložíš s ním, jako jsi naložil s emorejským králem Sichonem, který bydlel v Chešbonu.“ 35 A tak jej pobili i s jeho syny a s celým jeho lidem, až z nich nikdo nezůstal naživu, a obsadili jeho zem.

8 Der HERR sprach zu Mose: Mach dir eine Feuerschlange und häng sie an einer Stange auf! Jeder, der gebissen wird, wird am Leben bleiben, wenn er sie ansieht. (Dt 8,15; 2Kr 18,4; J 3,14) 9 Mose machte also eine Schlange aus Kupfer und hängte sie an einer Stange auf. Wenn nun jemand von einer Schlange gebissen wurde und zu der Kupferschlange aufblickte, blieb er am Leben.

Der Weg zu den Steppen von Moab

10 Die Israeliten brachen auf und schlugen ihr Lager in Obot auf. 11 Dann brachen sie von Obot auf und schlugen in Ije-Abarim ihr Lager auf, in der Wüste, die östlich von Moab liegt. (Nu 33,44) 12 Von dort brachen sie auf und schlugen ihr Lager am Bach Sered auf. 13 Von dort brachen sie auf und schlugen das Lager jenseits des Arnon auf, in der Wüste, die sich vom Amoritergebiet bis zum Arnon ausdehnt. Der Arnon bildet nämlich die Grenze zwischen Moab und den Amoritern. 14 Deshalb heißt es im Buch der Kriege des HERRN: Waheb in Sufa und die Bäche des Arnon 15 und die Wasserscheide, die sich zum Wohngebiet von Ar hinneigt und sich an das Gebiet von Moab anlehnt. 16 Von dort ging es weiter nach Beer, Brunnen; es ist der Brunnen, von dem der HERR zu Mose gesagt hat: Versammle das Volk, damit ich ihnen Wasser gebe! 17 Damals sang Israel das folgende Lied: Steig auf, Brunnen! / Singt über ihn ein Lied! / 18 Brunnen, den Heerführer gruben, / den die Edlen des Volkes aushoben / mit dem Zepter, mit ihren Stäben. Aus der Wüste nach Mattana, 19 von Mattana nach Nahaliël, von Nahaliël nach Bamot, 20 von Bamot zum Tal im Grünland von Moab, zum Gipfel des Pisga, der auf das Ödland herabschaut. (Nu 23,14)

22 Ich möchte durch dein Land ziehen. Wir werden nicht in die Felder und Weinberge abbiegen und wir werden kein Wasser aus euren Brunnen trinken. Wir wollen nur die Königsstraße benutzen, bis wir dein Gebiet durchzogen haben. (Nu 20,17) 23 Doch Sihon ließ Israel nicht durch sein Gebiet ziehen. Er versammelte sein ganzes Volk und zog Israel in die Wüste entgegen. Als er nach Jahaz gekommen war, griff er Israel an. 24 Aber Israel schlug ihn mit scharfem Schwert und nahm sein Land in Besitz vom Arnon bis zum Jabbok, das heißt bis zu den Ammonitern, denn Jaser bildete damals die Grenze zu den Ammonitern. 25 Die Israeliten nahmen alle jene Städte ein und ließen sich in den Amoriterstädten nieder, in Heschbon und allen seinen Tochterstädten. 26 Heschbon war nämlich die Stadt Sihons, des Amoriterkönigs. Dieser hatte aber gegen den ersten König von Moab Krieg geführt und hatte ihm sein ganzes Land bis zum Arnon abgenommen. 27 Darum sagen die Spruchdichter: Kommt nach Heschbon! / Gebaut und befestigt werde Sihons Stadt. / 28 Denn von Heschbon ging ein Feuer aus, / eine Flamme von Sihons Burg, / sie hat Ar-Moab gefressen / und die Arnonhöhen verschlungen. 29 Weh dir, Moab, / mit dir ist es aus, Volk des Kamosch. / Seine Söhne hat er zu Flüchtlingen gemacht, / seine Töchter zu Gefangenen des Amoriterkönigs Sihon. / 30 Denn wir haben auf sie geschossen; / verloren ist Heschbon bis Dibon, / von Naschim bis Nofach bei Medeba. 31 Die Israeliten ließen sich im Land der Amoriter nieder. 32 Mose schickte Boten aus, um Jaser auskundschaften zu lassen. Die Israeliten eroberten Jasers Tochterstädte und vertrieben die Amoriter, die dort wohnten. 33 Dann änderten sie die Richtung und zogen den Weg zum Baschan hinauf. Og, der König des Baschan, zog ihnen mit seinem ganzen Volk nach Edreï zum Kampf entgegen. 34 Der HERR sagte zu Mose: Hab keine Angst vor ihm; denn hiermit gebe ich ihn mit seinem ganzen Volk und seinem Land in deine Hand. The Song of the Well

King Sihon Defeated

21 Then Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying, (Dt 2,26; Sd 11,19) 22 “Let me pass through your land. We will not turn aside into field or vineyard. We will not drink the water of a well. We will go by the King’s Highway until we have passed through your territory.” (Nu 20,17) 23 But Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his territory. He gathered all his people together and went out against Israel to the wilderness and came to Jahaz and fought against Israel. (Dt 2,32; Dt 29,7; Sd 11,20) 24 And Israel defeated him with the edge of the sword and took possession of his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, as far as to the Ammonites, for the border of the Ammonites was strong.
