1 V ten den čteno jest v knize Mojžíšově, tak že lid slyšeti mohl. I nalezeno v ní napsáno, že nemá vjíti Ammonitský a Moábský do shromáždění Božího až na věky, 2 Proto že nevyšli proti synům Izraelským s chlebem a s vodou, ale najali ze mzdy proti nim Baláma, aby jim zlořečil, ačkoli obrátil Bůh náš to zlořečení v požehnání. 3 Stalo se pak, když slyšeli zákon, že odmísili všecky přimíšené od Izraele. 4 Ale před tím Eliasib kněz, správce komory domu Boha našeho, spříznil se s Tobiášem. 5 Kterémuž udělal pokoj veliký, kdež prvé skládali dary, kadidlo a nádoby, a desátky z obilé, mstu a oleje nového, nařízené Levítům a zpěvákům i vrátným, též i obět kněžím. 6 Ale když se to vše dálo, nebyl jsem v Jeruzalémě. Nebo léta třidcátého druhého Artaxerxa krále Babylonského přišel jsem k králi, a po přeběhnutí let, vyžádán jsem na králi. 7 Když jsem pak přišel do Jeruzaléma, srozuměl jsem tomu zlému, co učinil Eliasib pro Tobiáše, udělav mu pokoj v síních domu Božího. 8 Což mi se velmi nelíbilo. Protož vyházel jsem všecko nádobí domu Tobiášova ven z toho pokoje. 9 A rozkázal jsem očistiti ty pokoje. I vnesl jsem tam zase nádoby domu Božího, dary a kadidlo. 10 Potom dověděv se, že dílové Levítům nebyli dáváni, a že rozběhli se jeden každý na svou rolí, Levítové i zpěváci vedoucí práci, 11 Protož domlouval jsem se na starší, řka: Proč jest opuštěn dům Boží? A shromáždiv je, postavil jsem je na místě jejich. 12 A všecken Juda přinášeli desátky obilé, mstu a oleje nového do skladů. 13 A ustanovil jsem úředníky nad sklady: Selemiáše kněze, a Sádocha učitele, a Pedaiáše z Levítů, přidav k nim Chanana syna Zakurova, syna Mattaniášova; nebo za věrné jmíni byli. A ti měli rozdělovati bratřím svým. 14 Budiž pamětliv na mne, Bože můj, pro to, a nevyhlazuj dobrodiní mých, kteráž jsem prokázal k domu Boha svého i k službám jeho. 15 V těch dnech viděl jsem v Judstvu, ani tlačí presem v sobotu, a přinášejí snopy, kteréž nakládali na osly, též víno, hrozny, fíky i všeliká břemena, a snášejí v den sobotní do Jeruzaléma. I domlouval jsem jim v ten den, když prodávali potravu. 16 Tyrští také, kteříž bydlili v něm, nosili ryby i všelijaké koupě, a prodávali v sobotu synům Juda, a to v Jeruzalémě. 17 Protož jsem domlouval starším Judským, a řekl jsem jim: Jaká jest to nepravost, kterouž činíte, poškvrňujíce dne sobotního? 18 Zdaliž jsou tak nečinili otcové vaši? Pročež Bůh náš přivedl na nás všecko toto zlé, i na toto město, a vy přidáváte hněvivosti na Izraele, poškvrňujíce soboty. 19 Když tedy byly v stínu brány Jeruzalémské před sobotou, rozkázal jsem zavříti brány, a rozkázal jsem, aby jich neotvírali až po sobotě. K tomu i z služebníků svých některé postavil jsem v bráně, aby náklad nebyl vezen do města v sobotu. 20 Protož zůstali kupci a prodavači všelijakých věcí prodajných vně před Jeruzalémem, jednou i podruhé. 21 I osvědčil jsem se jim, řka jim: Proč zůstáváte přes noc naproti zdi? Učiníte-li to více, vztáhnu ruku na vás. Od té chvíle nepřicházeli v sobotu. 22 Rozkázal jsem pak Levítům, aby se očistili, a přijdouce, ostříhali bran, a světili den sobotní. Také i v tom pamatuj na mne, Bože můj, a buď mi milostiv podlé množství milosrdenství svého. 23 V těch dnech spatřil jsem také Židy, kteříž byli pojali ženy Azotské, Ammonitské a Moábské, 24 An synové jejich mluvili od polu Azotsky, a neuměli mluviti Židovsky, ale podlé jazyku každého toho lidu. 25 Protož domlouval jsem jim, a zlořečil jsem jim, a některé z nich bil jsem a rval, přísahou je zavazuje skrze Boha, řka: Budete-li dávati dcery své synům jejich, aneb bráti dcery jejich synům svým neb sobě, zlořečení budete. 26 Zdaliž tím nezhřešil Šalomoun král Izraelský? Ješto ve mnohých národech nebylo krále jemu podobného, kterýž byl milý Bohu svému, tak že ustanovil jej Bůh králem nade vším Izraelem, však i toho k hříchu přivedly ženy cizozemky. 27 A vám zdali povolíme, abyste se dopouštěli všeho toho zlého velikého, a přestupovali proti Bohu svému, pojímajíce ženy cizozemky? 28 Z synů pak Joiady syna Eliasiba, kněze nejvyššího, jeden byl zeť Sanballata Choronského, kteréhož jsem zahnal od sebe. 29 Budiž pamětliv na to, Bože můj, proti těm, kteříž poškvrňují kněžství, a smlouvy kněžské i Levítské. 30 Protož jsem je vyčistil od všelikého cizozemce, a ustanovil jsem zase třídy kněžím a Levítům, jednomu každému v práci jeho, 31 I nošení dříví k obětem časy uloženými, též i prvotin. Budiž pamětliv na mne, Bože můj, k mému dobrému.

1 V onen den bylo lidu předčítáno z Knihy Mojžíšovy a našlo se v ní napsáno, že Amónec ani Moábec nesmí nikdy vstoupit do Božího shromáždění. 2 Nevyšli totiž synům Izraele vstříc s chlebem a vodou, ale najali proti nim Bileáma, aby jim zlořečil; náš Bůh však obrátil zlořečení v požehnání. 3 Když uslyšeli ten zákon, rozhodli se vyloučit z Izraele všechny přimíšence. 4 Někdy předtím kněz Eljašíb, určený za správce komor domu našeho Boha, spřízněný s Tóbijášem, 5 uvolnil pro něho velkou komoru, kam byly dříve dávány obětní dary, kadidlo, nádobí a desátky z obilí, moštu a čerstvého oleje, určené levitům, zpěvákům a vrátným, a obětní dávky pro kněze. 6 Když se to vše stalo, nebyl jsem v Jeruzalémě. V třicátém druhém roce vlády babylónského krále Artaxerxa jsem se totiž odebral ke králi. Po nějaké době jsem si vyžádal od krále propuštění. 7 Jak jsem přišel do Jeruzaléma, hned jsem porozuměl, jakého zla se dopustil Eljašíb kvůli Tóbijášovi tím, že pro něho uvolnil komoru v nádvořích Božího domu. 8 Velice mě to pohoršilo. Dal jsem všechny věci Tóbijášova domu vyházet z komory ven. 9 Rozkázal jsem, aby komory vyčistili, a znovu jsem do nich dal věci Božího domu, obětní dary a kadidlo. 10 Dozvěděl jsem se také, že levitům nebyly dávány částky, takže se všichni rozprchli ke svým polím, levité i zpěváci konající službu. 11 Měl jsem o to spor s představenstvem a ptal jsem se: „Proč je Boží dům opuštěn?“ Shromáždil jsem levity a dosadil je na jejich místa. 12 A všechen Juda přinášel do skladů desátky z obilí, moštu a čerstvého oleje. 13 Za skladníky jsem určil kněze Šelemjáše, znalce Zákona Sádoka a z levitů Pedajáše; jim k ruce byl Chánan, syn Zakúra, syna Matanjášova; ti byli pokládáni za spolehlivé a měli za úkol vydávat příděly svým bratřím. – 14 „Pamatuj na mne, Bože můj, kvůli tomu a nevymaž mou oddanost, kterou jsem prokázal domu svého Boha a jeho službám!“ 15 V oněch dnech jsem v Judsku viděl, že někteří lisují hrozny v den odpočinku, že přinášejí pytle obilí a nakládají na osly a také že přinášejí do Jeruzaléma víno, hrozny a fíky a všelijaká břemena v den odpočinku. Varoval jsem je toho dne, kdy prodávali potraviny. 16 I Týřané tu byli usazeni; přinášeli ryby a všelijaké zboží a prodávali v den odpočinku Judovcům, a to přímo v Jeruzalémě. 17 Měl jsem o to spor s judskými šlechtici a ptal jsem se jich: „Jakého zla se to dopouštíte? Znesvěcujete den odpočinku! 18 Což právě tak nejednali vaši otcové? Proto náš Bůh uvedl všechno toto zlé na nás a na toto město. A vy jej zase popouzíte k hněvu proti Izraeli tím, že znesvěcujete den odpočinku.“ 19 Když přede dnem odpočinku padl na jeruzalémské brány stín, rozkázal jsem, aby byla zavřena vrata a aby je neotvírali dříve než po dni odpočinku. Některé ze svých služebníků jsem postavil k branám, aby nikdo nenosil břemena v den odpočinku. 20 Když kupci a prodavači všelijakého zboží nocovali jednou i dvakrát vně Jeruzaléma, 21 varoval jsem je a vytýkal jsem jim: „Proč nocujete před hradbami? Bude-li se to opakovat, vztáhnu na vás ruku.“ Od té doby v den odpočinku nepřicházeli. 22 Pak jsem přikázal levitům, aby se očistili a přišli střežit brány, aby byl svěcen den odpočinku. – „Pamatuj na mne, Bože můj, také kvůli tomu a měj se mnou soucit podle svého hojného milosrdenství!“ 23 V oněch dnech jsem také viděl, že si židé brali ašdódské, amónské a moábské ženy. 24 Jejich děti pak mluvily zpoloviny ašdódsky, ale nedovedly mluvit židovsky. Hovořily jazykem toho či onoho lidu. 25 Měl jsem s nimi o to spor a zlořečil jsem jim, některé muže jsem bil a rval za vousy a zapřisáhl jsem je při Bohu: „Nedávejte své dcery jejich synům a neberte jejich dcery svým synům a sobě! 26 Což se právě tím neprohřešil izraelský král Šalomoun? Mezi mnohými národy nebylo krále jemu podobného. Byl milován Bohem, který jej určil za krále nad celým Izraelem. A přece i jeho svedly ženy cizinky ke hříchu. 27 Máme snad mlčet, když vás slyšíme, že pácháte všechno to veliké zlo, že se zpronevěřujete našemu Bohu a berete si ženy cizinky?“ 28 Jeden syn nejvyššího kněze Jójady, syna Eljašíbova, byl zetěm Sanbalata Chorónského. Toho jsem od sebe odehnal. – 29 „Pamatuj na ně, Bože můj, že poskvrnili kněžství i smlouvu kněžskou a levitskou!“ – 30 Tak jsem je očistil ode všeho cizího. Stanovil jsem povinnosti kněží a levitů, každému podle jeho díla, 31 i pro přinášení dříví v určených lhůtách, i pro prvotiny. – „Pamatuj na mne, Bože můj, v dobrém.“

1 Onoho dne se veřejně předčítalo z Knihy Mojžíšovy. Našlo se tam zapsáno: „Do Božího shromáždění nesmí vejít nikdo z Amonců ani z Moábců, 2 protože synům Izraele nevyšli naproti s chlebem a vodou. Namísto toho si najali Balaáma, aby je proklel. Náš Bůh ale obrátil kletbu v požehnání.“^[1] 3 Jakmile ten zákon uslyšeli, vyloučili z Izraele všechny, kdo se mezi ně přimísili. 4 Ještě předtím se ale kněz Eliašib, přidělený ke komorám chrámu našeho Boha, spříznil s Tobiášem 5 a poskytl mu velikou komoru, kde předtím ukládali obětiny, kadidlo, nádoby a desátky z obilí, vína i oleje, předepsaného pro levity, zpěváky a strážné, jakož i obětiny pro kněze. 6 V té době jsem nebyl v Jeruzalémě, protože jsem ve dvaatřicátém roce^[2] babylonského krále Artaxerxe musel odcestovat ke králi. Potom jsem krále znovu požádal o svolení 7 a vrátil se do Jeruzaléma. Tehdy jsem se dozvěděl, jakou špatnost Eliašib provedl, když Tobiášovi poskytl komoru na nádvoří Božího chrámu. 8 Nesmírně rozhněván jsem všechny Tobiášovy rodinné věci vyházel ven z komory. 9 Pak jsem nařídil komory očistit a nechal tam nanosit věci Božího domu, obětiny a kadidlo. 10 Také jsem zjistil, že se neodváděly příděly pro levity, takže se všichni levité i zpěváci konající bohoslužbu uchýlili ke svým polím. 11 Vytkl jsem to hodnostářům. „Jak to že je zanedbáván Boží dům?!“ ptal jsem se. Povolal jsem je tedy zpět a poslal je na jejich místa. 12 Všechen judský lid pak přinášel do pokladnic desátky z obilí, vína i oleje. 13 Pokladnice jsem svěřil knězi Šelemiášovi, písaři Sádokovi a levitovi Pedajášovi a k ruce jsem jim dal Chanana, syna Zakurova, syna Mataniášova. Byli spolehliví lidé, a tak dostali za úkol rozdělovat příděly svým bratřím. 14 Pamatuj za to na mě, Bože můj, a nevymaž mou oddanost, kterou jsem prokazoval domu svého Boha a jeho službám!

15 V těch dnech jsem v Judsku viděl, jak v sobotu šlapou vinný lis, jak snášejí obilí na hromady, nakládají na osly a převážejí do Jeruzaléma víno, hrozny, fíky a všemožné náklady. Ještě téhož sobotního dne, kdy ty potraviny prodávali, jsem je varoval. 16 Zdržovali se tam také Tyřané a přiváželi ryby a všemožné zboží, které v sobotu prodávali Židům přímo v Jeruzalémě. 17 Vytýkal jsem to judské šlechtě. „Co to děláte za špatnost?!“ ptal jsem se jich. „Vždyť znesvěcujete sobotu! 18 Právě tohle dělali vaši otcové, a náš Bůh pak na nás a na toto město dopustil všechno to zlo! Když poskvrňujete sobotu, znovu rozněcujete jeho hněv proti Izraeli!“ 19 Když se tedy v jeruzalémských branách začínalo šeřit před sobotou, přikázal jsem, ať zavřou vrata. Zakázal jsem je otevírat, dokud neskončí sobota. Do bran jsem postavil některé ze svých mužů, aby se v sobotu nemohl přivážet náklad. 20 Jednou nebo dvakrát museli obchodníci a prodavači veškerého zboží přenocovat venku před Jeruzalémem. 21 Já jsem je ale varoval. „Co tady nocujete před hradbami?“ říkal jsem jim. „Ještě jednou, a vztáhnu na vás ruku!“ Od té doby už v sobotu nechodili. 22 Levitům jsem nařídil, aby se očistili a přišli hlídat brány, aby sobotní den zůstal svatý. I za to na mě pamatuj, Bože můj, a ve své veliké lásce se slituj nade mnou. 23 V té době jsem také viděl, jak si Židé berou ženy z Ašdodu a také Amonky a Moábky. 24 Jejich děti místo židovsky mluvily napůl ašdodsky anebo jazyky ostatních národů. 25 Vytýkal jsem jim to, zlořečil jim, některé muže jsem i bil a rval jim vlasy. Zapřísahal jsem je při Bohu: „Nedávejte své dcery jejich synům a nežeňte své syny ani sebe s jejich dcerami! 26 Copak právě kvůli nim nezhřešil izraelský král Šalomoun?! Mezi tolika národy nebylo krále jako on – Boží miláček, jehož Bůh učinil králem celého Izraele. I jeho zavedly cizí ženy do hříchu.^[3] 27 Co teprve vás? Je neslýchané, abyste prováděli takovou hanebnost, zrazovali našeho Boha a ženili se s cizinkami!“ 28 Jeden ze synů Jojady, syna velekněze Eliašiba, byl zetěm Sanbalata Choronského. Proto jsem ho vykázal ze své blízkosti. 29 Pamatuj na ně, Bože můj, že poskvrnili kněžství a smlouvu kněžskou i levitskou. 30 Tak jsem je očistil ode všeho cizího. Stanovil jsem kněžské i levitské služby, každému jeho úkol. 31 Určil jsem také pravidelné dávky dřeva a prvotin. Pamatuj na mě, Bože můj, v dobrém.

1 An jenem Tag las man dem Volk aus dem Buch des Mose vor; da fand man die Stelle, an der steht: In die Versammlung Gottes darf niemals ein Ammoniter oder Moabiter kommen; (Dt 23,4) 2 denn sie sind den Israeliten einst nicht mit Brot und Wasser entgegengegangen. Moab hat gegen sie Bileam gedungen, der sie verfluchen sollte. Doch unser Gott verwandelte den Fluch in einen Segen. 3 Als man diese Weisung gehört hatte, sonderte man aus Israel alle Mischvölker aus.

4 Früher hatte der Priester Eljaschib die Kammern des Hauses unseres Gottes betreut; er war verwandt mit Tobija (Neh 2,19; Neh 12,44) 5 und hatte darum für ihn eine große Kammer einrichten lassen. Dort bewahrte man früher das Opfermehl und den Weihrauch auf sowie die Behälter und den Zehnten von Getreide, Wein und Öl, der den Leviten, Sängern und Torwächtern nach dem Gebot zukam, außerdem die Abgaben für die Priester. 6 Bei alldem war ich aber nicht in Jerusalem gewesen; denn im zweiunddreißigsten Jahr des Artaxerxes, des Königs von Babel, war ich zum König gereist. Nach einiger Zeit erbat ich aber vom König meine Freistellung 7 und kam wieder nach Jerusalem. Nun bemerkte ich die Untat, die Eljaschib zugunsten Tobijas begangen hatte, indem er ihm in den Vorhöfen des Hauses Gottes eine Kammer eingerichtet hatte. (Mt 21,12) 8 Das missfiel mir sehr und ich warf den ganzen Hausrat Tobijas aus der Kammer hinaus. 9 Dann ließ ich die Kammern reinigen und brachte die Behälter des Hauses Gottes, das Opfermehl und den Weihrauch wieder dorthin. (Neh 12,30) 10 Ich erfuhr auch, dass die Anteile der Leviten nicht abgeliefert wurden; darum waren die Leviten und die Sänger, die den Dienst zu versehen hatten, weggegangen, jeder auf seinen Landbesitz. (Neh 12,47) 11 Da machte ich den Beamten Vorwürfe und sagte: Warum wird das Haus Gottes im Stich gelassen? Und ich holte die Leviten wieder zusammen und stellte sie auf ihren Posten. 12 Nun brachte ganz Juda wieder den Zehnten von Getreide, Wein und Öl zu den Vorratskammern. (Neh 10,38) 13 Zur Aufsicht über die Vorratskammern bestimmte ich den Priester Schelemja, den Schreiber Zadok und den Leviten Pedaja. Ihnen stellte ich Hanan, den Sohn Sakkurs, des Sohnes Mattanjas, an die Seite, denn sie galten als zuverlässig. Ihnen oblag die Verteilung an ihre Brüder. 14 Denk dafür an mich, mein Gott, und lösch die guten Taten nicht aus, die ich für das Haus meines Gottes und seine Ordnung vollbracht habe! (Neh 5,19)

Sabbatordnung

15 Damals sah ich in Juda Leute, die am Sabbat die Kelter traten. Andere brachten Getreide ein und luden es auf Esel; auch Wein, Trauben, Feigen und Lasten aller Art brachten sie am Sabbattag nach Jerusalem. Ich verwarnte sie, weil sie an diesem Tag Lebensmittel verkauften. (Neh 10,32; Jr 17,19) 16 Die Leute von Tyrus, die in Juda wohnten, brachten Fische und allerlei Waren und verkauften sie am Sabbat an die Juden, sogar in Jerusalem. 17 Da machte ich den Vornehmen von Juda Vorwürfe und sagte zu ihnen: Wie könnt ihr eine solche Untat begehen und den Sabbat entweihen? 18 Haben das nicht schon eure Väter getan? Dafür ließ unser Gott all dieses Unheil über uns und diese Stadt kommen. Wollt ihr neuen Zorn über Israel bringen, indem ihr den Sabbat entweiht? 19 Ich ließ von da an vor dem Anbruch des Sabbats, wenn es in den Toren Jerusalems dunkel wurde, die Tore schließen und befahl, sie erst nach dem Sabbat wieder zu öffnen. Auch stellte ich einige meiner Leute an die Tore, damit am Sabbattag keine Lasten hereingebracht wurden.^[1] 20 Einmal und ein zweites Mal übernachteten die Händler und die Verkäufer von allerlei Waren draußen vor Jerusalem. 21 Da warnte ich sie und sagte zu ihnen: Wozu übernachtet ihr gerade vor der Mauer? Wenn ihr es noch einmal tut, lasse ich euch festnehmen. Von da an kamen sie nicht mehr am Sabbat. 22 Den Leviten aber befahl ich, sie sollten sich reinigen und sich als Wächter an die Tore stellen, damit man den Sabbattag heilighalte. Auch dafür denk an mich, mein Gott, und sei mir gnädig in deiner großen Huld! (Neh 7,1; Neh 12,30)

Verbot der Mischehen

23 Damals sah ich auch Juden, die Frauen von Aschdod, Ammon und Moab geheiratet hatten. (Ezd 9,1) 24 Die Hälfte ihrer Kinder redete in der Sprache von Aschdod oder in der Sprache eines der anderen Völker, konnten aber nicht mehr Jüdisch. 25 Ich machte ihnen Vorwürfe und verfluchte sie. Einige von ihnen schlug ich und packte sie bei den Haaren. Ich beschwor sie bei Gott: Ihr dürft eure Töchter nicht ihren Söhnen geben noch ihre Töchter zu Frauen für eure Söhne oder für euch selbst nehmen. (Dt 7,3; Neh 10,31) 26 Hat sich nicht wegen solcher Frauen Salomo, der König Israels, versündigt? Unter den vielen Völkern gab es keinen König wie ihn. Er wurde von seinem Gott geliebt; darum hatte ihn Gott zum König über ganz Israel gemacht. Aber selbst ihn haben die fremden Frauen zur Sünde verführt. (2S 12,24; 1Kr 10,23; 1Kr 11,1) 27 Und jetzt hört man von euch, dass ihr genau dieselbe Untat begeht und unserem Gott die Treue brecht, indem ihr fremde Frauen heiratet. 28 Einer der Söhne des Hohepriesters Jojada, des Sohnes Eljaschibs, war der Schwiegersohn des Horoniters Sanballat; ihn verwies ich aus meinem Gebiet. (Lv 21,14) 29 Vergiss es ihnen nicht, mein Gott, dass sie das Priestertum und den Bund der Priester und Leviten befleckt haben! 5 prepared for Tobiah a large chamber where they had previously put the grain offering, the frankincense, the vessels, and the tithes of grain, wine, and oil, which were given by commandment to the Levites, singers, and gatekeepers, and the contributions for the priests. (Nu 18,21; Nu 18,24) 6 While this was taking place, I was not in Jerusalem, for in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I went to the king.
