1Slovo Hospodinovo, kteréž se stalo k Jeremiášovi proroku proti Filistinským, prvé než dobyl Farao Gázy.2Takto praví Hospodin: Aj, vody vystupují od půlnoci, a obrátí se v potok rozvodnilý, tak že zatopí zemi, i cožkoli jest na ní, město i ty, kteříž bydlí v něm; pročež křičeti budou lidé, a kvíliti všeliký obyvatel té země;3Pro zvuk dusání kopyt silných jeho, pro hřmot vozů jeho, a hrčení kol jeho, neohlédnou se otcové na syny, majíce opuštěné ruce;4Pro ten den, kterýž přijíti má, aby pohubil všecky Filistinské, aby zahladil Týr a Sidon, i všelikou pozůstávající pomoc, když hubiti bude Hospodin Filistinské, ostatek krajiny Kaftor.5Přijde lysina na Gázu, vypléněn bude Aškalon i ostatek údolí jejich. Dokudž se řezati budeš?6Ach, meči Hospodinův, dokudž se nespokojíš? Navrať se do pošvy své, utiš se, a zastav se.7I jakž by se spokojil? Však Hospodin přikázal jemu. Proti Aškalon a proti břehu mořskému, tam postavil jej.
PROTI PELIŠTEJCŮM - ˝ - I na Pelištejce dolehne soud. Nikdo mu neunikne.
1 Slovo Hospodinovo, které se stalo k proroku Jeremjášovi o Pelištejcích, než farao dobyl Gázu. 2 Toto praví Hospodin: „Hle, od severu vystupují vody a stanou se rozvodněným tokem. Zaplaví zemi se vším, co je na ní, město i ty, kdo v něm bydlí. Lidé budou úpět, kvílet bude každý, kdo obývá zemi, 3 před dusotem kopyt jeho hřebců, před duněním jeho vozby, před hlukem jeho kol. Otcové se na syny ani neohlédnou, ochabnou jim ruce. 4 Přijde den zhouby na všechny Pelištejce. V Týru a Sidónu bude vyhlazen každý, kdo přežil a mohl by pomoci. Hospodin zahubí Pelištejce, pozůstatek lidu z ostrova Kaftóru. 5 Gáza si vyholí lysinu, Aškalón zajde. Pozůstatku lidu z jejich doliny, dlouho si ještě budeš zasazovat smuteční zářezy?“ 6 Běda, Hospodinův meči! Jak dlouho si ještě nedopřeješ klidu? Ukliď se do pochvy, mírni se, ustaň! 7 Jak bys mohl mít klid? Hospodin mu dal příkaz proti Aškalónu a proti mořskému pobřeží. Tam jej vykázal.

Ano, Hospodin zničí Filištíny, ty pozůstatky z ostrova Kréta.5Gaza si pro smutek hlavu vyholí, Aškelon bude umlčen.
