1Dí dále: Propustil-li by muž ženu svou, a ona odejduc od něho, vdala by se za jiného muže, zdaliž se navrátí k ní více? Zdaliž by hrozně nebyla poškvrněna země ta? Ale ty, ač jsi smilnila s milovníky mnohými, a však navratiž se ke mně, dí Hospodin.2Pozdvihni očí svých k vysokým místům, a pohleď, kdes necizoložila? Na cestách usazovalas se jim jako Arab na poušti, a poškvrnila jsi země smilstvím svým a nešlechetností svou.3A ačkoli zadržáni jsou podzimní dešťové, a deště jarního nebývalo, však čelo ženy nevěstky majíc, nechtělas se styděti.4Zdali od nynějšího času volati budeš ke mně: Otče můj, ty jsi vůdce mladosti mé?5Zdaliž Bůh držeti bude hněv na věčnost? Zdali chovati jej bude na věky? Aj, mluvíš i pášeš zlé věci, jakž jen můžeš.6Tedy řekl mi Hospodin za dnů Joziáše krále: Viděl-lis, co činila zpurná dcera Izraelská? Chodívala na každou horu vysokou, i pod každé dřevo zelené, a tam smilnila.7A ačkoli jsem řekl, když ty všecky věci ona činila: Nechť se navrátí ke mně, však se nenavrátila. Načež hleděla zpronevěřilá sestra její, dcera Judská.8Pročež vidělo mi se pro ty všecky příčiny, poněvadž cizoložila zpurná dcera Izraelská, propustiti ji, a dáti jí lístek zapuzení jejího. — Izrael i Juda se zpronevěřili - Ačkoli Juda viděl, že se Izrael svou nevěrou uvrhl do záhuby, nepoučil se z jeho údělu a jde dál jeho cestou.
1 Řekl: „Jestliže muž propustí svou ženu a ona od něho odejde a vdá se za jiného, smí se k ní znovu vrátit? Což by tím země nebyla nesmírně potřísněna? Smilnila jsi s mnoha druhy, avšak vrať se ke mně, je výrok Hospodinův. 2 Pozdvihni své oči na holá návrší a pohleď: Kde ses neposkvrnila nevěrou? Kvůli nim jsi vysedávala při cestách jako Arab na poušti, potřísnila jsi zemi svým smilstvem, svými zlořády. 3 Byla zadržena vláha, nepřišel podzimní déšť, ale ty máš čelo nevěstky, odvrhla jsi stud. 4 Což ani teď ke mně nezvoláš: ‚Můj Otče, tys byl vůdce mého mládí‘? 5 Ale říkáš: ‚Bude mě na věky hlídat, ustavičně stát na stráži?‘ Hle, mluvíš a pácháš zlé věci, jak jen můžeš.“ 6 Hospodin mi za dnů krále Jóšijáše řekl: „Viděl jsi, co provedla ta izraelská odpadlice? Chodila na kdejakou vysokou horu i pod kdejaký zelený strom a smilnila tam.7 Řekl jsem: Po tom všem, co provedla, se vrátí ke mně. Ale nevrátila se. Viděla ji její sestra, judská věrolomnice.8 Pro všechno cizoložství, jehož se ta izraelská odpadlice dopustila, jsem se rozhodl, že ji propustím, a dal jsem jí rozlukový list. 11 Hospodin mi řekl: „Izraelská odpadlice je spravedlivější než ta věrolomnice judská.12 Jdi a provolej směrem k severu tato slova: Navrať se, izraelská odpadlice, je výrok Hospodinův, já se na vás neosopím, neboť jsem milosrdný, je výrok Hospodinův, nechovám hněv navěky. 13 Poznej však svou nepravost, dopustila ses nevěry vůči Hospodinu, svému Bohu, zaměřila jsi své cesty k bohům cizím, pod kdejaký zelený strom, mne jsi neposlouchala, je výrok Hospodinův.“ 14 „Navraťte se, odpadlí synové, je výrok Hospodinův, neboť já jsem váš manžel. Přijmu vás, po jednom z města, po dvou z čeledi, a uvedu vás na Sijón.15 Dám vám pastýře podle svého srdce a ti vás budou pást obezřetně a prozíravě.16 A stane se, že se v oněch dnech na zemi rozmnožíte a rozplodíte, je výrok Hospodinův. Zvrátili svou cestu, zapomněli na Hospodina, svého Boha. 22 „Vraťte se, synové odpadlí, já vaše odpadlictví vyléčím. ‚Zde jsme, přišli jsme k tobě, neboť ty jsi Hospodin, náš Bůh. 23 Věru, klamavé jsou pahorky, halasící hory! Věru, jen v Hospodinu, našem Bohu, je spása Izraele. 24 Ohava požírala už od našeho mládí, čeho otcové těžce nabyli: jejich ovce i dobytek, syny i dcery. 25 Ležíme v hanbě, přikryti pohanou, neboť jsme hřešili proti Hospodinu, svému Bohu, my i naši otcové, od svého mládí až do tohoto dne. Čekalas na milence někde u cesty, jako beduín vysedává na poušti. Svým smilstvem a svou zkažeností jsi poskvrnila zemi!3Když potom přestal padat liják a nepřišel ani jarní déšť, byla jsi zatvrzelá jako coura, odmítala ses zastydět.4A teď mi ještě říkáš: ‚Otče, od mládí jsi mě provázel!5Snad se nebudeš hněvat věčně? Zůstaneš navždy rozzloben?‘ Takto mluvíš, a přitom hle – pácháš zlo, jak jen dovedeš!“

6Za dnů krále Jošiáše mi Hospodin řekl: „Vidíš, co provádí ta poběhlice Izrael? Tahá se na kdejaký vyšší kopec a pod kdejaký košatý strom, aby tam smilnila.7Říkal jsem si, že po všem, co provedla, se vrátí ke mně, ale nevrátila se. Viděla to její sestra, zrádkyně Juda.8Viděla,[2] že jsem tu poběhlici Izrael kvůli všemu jejímu cizoložství propustil a dal jí rozlukový list. Její sestra, ta zrádkyně Juda, se toho ale nelekla a odešla smilnit i ona.9Svým lehkovážným smilstvem poskvrnila zem, když cizoložila s kamením a dřevem.10Ani po tom všem se ale ta její sestra, ta zrádkyně Juda, ke mně nevrátila celým srdcem – pouze falešně, praví Hospodin.“11Hospodin mi řekl: „I ta poběhlice Izrael vypadá nevinně vedle Judy, té zrádkyně.12Jdi a volej tato slova směrem na sever: Izraeli, ty poběhlice, vrať se, praví Hospodin; nebudu už na vás hledět s nevolí. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.3Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; and thou hadst a whore' forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed.4Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth?5Will he reserve his anger for ever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest.6The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot.7And I said after she had done all these things , Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it .8And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.9And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.10And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD.11And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.12Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.13Only acknowledge thine iniquity, that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God, and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree, and ye have not obeyed my voice, saith the LORD.14Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:15And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.16And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it ; neither shall that be done any more.17At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.18In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.19But I said, How shall I put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, Thou shalt call me, My father; and shalt not turn away from me.20Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD.21A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God.22Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God.23Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.24For shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.25We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.
