1 Vyšla pak Dína, dcera Líe, kterouž porodila Jákobovi, aby se dívala na dcery té země. 2 Kteroužto uzřev Sichem, syn Emora Hevejského, knížete v krajině té, vzal ji, i ležel s ní, a ponížil jí. 3 I připojila se duše jeho k Díně, dceři Jákobově; a zamilovav děvečku, mluvil k srdci jejímu. 4 Mluvil potom Sichem k Emorovi, otci svému, těmito slovy: Vezmi mi děvečku tuto za manželku. 5 Uslyšev pak Jákob, že poškvrnil Díny dcery jeho, (a synové jeho byli s stádem na poli), mlčel, až oni přišli. 6 Tedy vyšel Emor, otec Sichemův, k Jákobovi, aby mluvil s ním o to. 7 A v tom synové Jákobovi přišli s pole; a uslyšavše o tom, bolestí naplněni jsou muži ti, a rozhněvali se velmi, proto že hanebnou věc učinil v Izraeli, ležav se dcerou Jákobovou, čehož činiti nenáleželo. 8 I mluvil Emor s nimi na tento způsob: Sichem, syn můj, hoří milostí k vaší dceři; prosím, dejte mu ji za manželku. 9 A spřízněte se s námi: Dcery své dávejte nám, a naše dcery pojímejte sobě. 10 A bydlete s námi, nebo všecka země bude před vámi; osaďte se a obchod veďte v ní, a vládněte jí. 11 Mluvil i Sichem otci jejímu, a bratřím jejím: Nechť naleznu milost před očima vašima, dám, co mi koli díte. 12 Jmenujte mi věno i dary jak chcete veliké, dám, jak mi koli řeknete; jen mi tu děvečku dejte za manželku. 13 Odpovídajíce pak synové Jákobovi Sichemovi a Emorovi, otci jeho, lstivě mluvili, proto že poškvrnil Díny sestry jich. 14 A řekli jim: Nemůžeme učiniti toho, abychom dali sestru svou za muže neobřezaného; nebo to ohavnost jest u nás. 15 Než na tento způsob vám povolíme: Jestliže se chcete srovnati s námi, aby obřezán byl každý z vás pohlaví mužského: 16 Tedy budeme dávati dcery své vám, a dcery vaše bráti sobě; a budeme bydliti s vámi, a budeme lid jeden. 17 Pakli neuposlechnete nás, abyste se obřezali, vezmeme zase dceru svou a odejdeme. 18 Tedy líbila se řeč jejich Emorovi i Sichemovi, synu Emorovu. 19 A nemeškal mládenec učiniti toho; nebo se mu zalíbila dcera Jákobova. A on byl nejvzácnější ze všech v domě otce svého. 20 I přišel Emor a Sichem, syn jeho, k bráně města svého; a mluvili mužům města svého, řkouce: 21 Muži tito pokojně se mají k nám, nechť tedy bydlí v zemi této, a obchod vedou v ní, (nebo země jest dosti široká a prostranná před nimi;) dcery jejich budeme sobě bráti za manželky, a dcery své budeme dávati jim. 22 Než na tento způsob přivolí nám ti muži k tomu, aby bydlili s námi, a abychom byli jeden lid: Jestliže obřezán bude každý pohlaví mužského mezi námi, tak jako oni jsou obřezáni. 23 Dobytek jejich a statek jejich, i všecka hovada jejich, zdaliž nebudou naše? Toliko v tom jim povolme, a budou bydliti s námi. 24 I uposlechli Emora a Sichema, syna jeho, všickni vycházející branou města jeho; a obřezali se všickni pohlaví mužského, což jich koli vycházelo z brány města jeho. 25 A toť dne třetího, když oni největší bolest měli, dva synové Jákobovi, Simeon a Léví, bratří Díny, vzav každý z nich meč svůj, vpadli do města směle, a pomordovali všecky pohlaví mužského. 26 Emora také a Sichema, syna jeho, zamordovali mečem, a vzavše Dínu z domu Sichemova, odešli. 27 Potom synové Jákobovi přišedše na zbité, vzebrali město, proto že poškvrnili sestry jejich. 28 Stáda jejich, a voly i osly jejich, a což bylo v městě i po poli, pobrali. 29 K tomu i všecko jmění jejich, a všecky malé dítky jejich, a ženy jejich zajali, a vybrali, co kde v domích bylo. 30 Řekl pak Jákob Simeonovi a Léví: Zkormoutili jste mne, a zošklivili jste mne u obyvatelů krajiny této, u Kananejských a Ferezejských, a já jsem s malým počtem lidí. Seberou-li se na mne, zbijí mne, a tak vyhlazen budu já i dům můj. 31 A oni odpověděli: A což měli jako nevěstky zle užívati sestry naší?

1 Dína, kterou Jákobovi porodila Lea, si vyšla, aby se podívala na dcery té země. 2 Uviděl ji Šekem, syn Chivejce Chamóra, knížete země, vzal ji a ležel s ní, a tak ji ponížil. 3 Přilnul však k Díně, dceři Jákobově, celou duší, zamiloval si tu dívku a vemlouval se do jejího srdce. 4 Svému otci Chamórovi pak Šekem řekl: „Vezmi mně to děvčátko za ženu.“ 5 Když Jákob uslyšel, že Šekem jeho dceru Dínu poskvrnil, byli jeho synové na poli s dobytkem. Jákob mlčel, dokud nepřišli. 6 Šekemův otec Chamór pak vyšel k Jákobovi, aby s ním promluvil. 7 Jákobovi synové přišli z pole, jakmile o tom uslyšeli. Bolestně to ty muže ranilo a velmi se rozlítili. Vždyť spáchal v Izraeli hanebnost, ležel s dcerou Jákobovou, a to je nepřípustné. 8 Chamór s nimi mluvil takto: „Můj syn Šekem lpí na vaší dceři celou duší. Dejte mu ji prosím za ženu. 9 Spřízněte se s námi, dávejte své dcery nám a berte si dcery naše. 10 Můžete sídlit s námi, je před vámi celá země. Usaďte se, volně v ní obchodujte a mějte ji jako vlastní.“ 11 Také Šekem jejímu otci a jejím bratrům řekl: „Kéž bych získal vaši přízeň. Dám vám, oč mě požádáte. 12 Určete mi jakkoli veliké věno i dar. Dám vám, oč mě požádáte, jen mi tu dívku dejte za ženu!“ 13 Avšak Jákobovi synové odpověděli Šekemovi a jeho otci Chamórovi lstivě. Jednali tak proto, že jejich sestru Dínu poskvrnil. 14 Řekli jim: „To my nemůžeme udělat, abychom dali svou sestru muži neobřezanému, byla by to pro nás potupa. 15 Svolíme jen tehdy, budete-li jako my: dá-li se u vás každý mužského pohlaví obřezat. 16 Pak vám budeme dávat své dcery a budeme si brát dcery vaše, usídlíme se u vás a staneme se jedním lidem. 17 Jestliže nás neuposlechnete a nedáte se obřezat, vezmeme svou dceru a odejdeme.“ 18 Chamórovi i jeho synu Šekemovi se jejich slova líbila. 19 Mládenec nemeškal a vykonal to, neboť si Jákobovu dceru oblíbil. V otcově domě byl ze všech nejváženější. 20 Chamór a jeho syn Šekem přišli k bráně svého města a promluvili k mužům svého města: 21 „Tito muži se k nám chovají pokojně. Ať se tedy usídlí v zemi a volně v ní obchodují. Ať je pro ně tato země na všechny strany otevřená. My si budeme brát za ženy jejich dcery a budeme jim dávat dcery své. 22 Avšak aby s námi bydleli jako jeden lid, svolí ti muži jen tehdy, dá-li se u nás každý mužského pohlaví obřezat, jako jsou obřezáni oni. 23 Nebudou tak jejich stáda a majetek i všechen jejich dobytek patřit nám? Buďme jen svolni a oni se u nás usídlí.“ 24 Poslechli tedy Chamóra a jeho syna Šekema všichni, kdo měli právo vycházet k bráně jeho města; dal se obřezat každý mužského pohlaví, kdo vycházel k bráně jeho města. 25 Ale třetího dne, když byli v bolestech, vtrhli bezpečně do města s mečem v ruce dva Jákobovi synové, Šimeón a Lévi, bratři Díny, a všechny mužského pohlaví povraždili. 26 Zavraždili mečem také Chamóra a jeho syna Šekema, vzali z Šekemova domu Dínu a odešli. 27 Na pobité potom přišli Jákobovi synové a za poskvrnění své sestry město vyloupili. 28 Pobrali jejich brav a skot i jejich osly a co bylo v městě i na poli. 29 Zajali všechny jejich děti a jejich ženy a uloupili všechno jejich jmění, vše, co bylo v domě. 30 I řekl Jákob Šimeónovi a Lévimu: „Přivedete mě do zkázy, způsobili jste, že vzbuzuji nelibost u obyvatel země, u Kenaanců a Perizejců. Mám málo lidí. Seberou-li se proti mně, pobijí mě a budu vyhuben já i můj dům.“ 31 Odvětili: „Což směl s naší sestrou zacházet jako s děvkou?“

1 Dína, dcera, kterou Jákobovi porodila Léa, si jednou vyšla navštívit domorodé dívky. 2 Když ji uviděl kníže té země, Šechem, syn Hivejce Chamora, zmocnil se jí a spal s ní – znásilnil ji. 3 Přilnul ale k Jákobově dceři Díně celou duší, zamiloval si ji a mluvil s ní laskavě. 4 Potom Šechem přemlouval svého otce Chamora: „Vezmi mi tu dívenku za ženu!“ 5 Když Jákob uslyšel, že Šechem poskvrnil jeho dceru Dínu, jeho synové byli právě se stádem na poli. Až do jejich příchodu tedy mlčel. 6 Šechemův otec Chamor se mezitím vypravil k Jákobovi, aby s ním promluvil. 7 Vtom přišli Jákobovi synové z pole, a když to uslyšeli, zasáhlo je to tak, že se velmi rozlítili. Spáchal přece v Izraeli hanebnost, když spal s Jákobovou dcerou – to se přece nesmí! 8 Chamor s nimi začal vyjednávat: „Můj syn Šechem prahne po vaší dceři celou duší; dejte mu ji, prosím, za ženu. 9 Spřízněte se s námi – dávejte nám své dcery a berte si naše. 10 Když budete bydlet u nás, bude celá země před vámi. Bydlete v ní, obchodujte a mějte ji za svou!“ 11 Šechem pak jejímu otci a jejím bratrům řekl: „Moc vás prosím; dám vám, cokoli si řeknete! 12 Uložte mi vysoké věno a mnoho darů a já dám, kolik mi řeknete, jen mi tu dívku dejte za ženu!“ 13 Jákobovi synové odpověděli Šechemovi a Chamorovi lstivě, neboť poskvrnil jejich sestru Dínu. 14 Řekli jim: „Nic takového nemůžeme udělat. Dát svou sestru neobřezanému muži – to by pro nás byla hanba! 15 Vyhovíme vám, jen když budete jako my. Ať se každý z vás, kdo je mužského pohlaví, dá obřezat. 16 Pak vám budeme dávat své dcery a brát si vaše, budeme bydlet s vámi a budeme jeden lid. 17 Pokud nás však neposlechnete a neobřežete se, vezmeme si svou dceru a odejdeme.“ 18 Jejich slova se Chamorovi i jeho synu Šechemovi zalíbila 19 a ten mládenec neváhal tu věc vykonat, neboť po Jákobově dceři velmi toužil. (Šechem byl z celé rodiny svého otce ten nejváženější.) 20 Chamor a jeho syn Šechem tedy přišli k bráně svého města a promluvili k tamním měšťanům: 21 „Tito muži se k nám chovají pokojně. Ať tedy bydlí v této zemi a obchodují v ní. Hle, země je přece dost prostorná i pro ně; berme si tedy jejich dcery za ženy a své dcery dávejme jim. 22 Vyhoví nám ovšem a budou s námi bydlet jako jeden lid jen s touto podmínkou: každý z nás, kdo je mužského pohlaví, se musí dát obřezat, jako jsou obřezaní oni. 23 Nebudou snad potom jejich stáda, jejich majetek a všechna jejich zvířata naše? Vyhovme jim tedy, ať bydlí u nás!“ 24 A tak všichni, kdo vycházeli z brány jeho města, poslechli Chamora i jeho syna Šechema a dali se obřezat: každý, kdo byl mužského pohlaví, každý, kdo vycházel z brány toho města. 25 Třetího dne, když měli největší bolesti, se dva Jákobovi synové, Dínini bratři Šimeon a Levi, chopili každý svého meče, v bezpečí vešli do města a pobili všechny, kdo byli mužského pohlaví. 26 Také Chamora a jeho syna Šechema zabili ostřím meče. Vzali Dínu z Šechemova domu a odešli. 27 Jákobovi synové pak přišli k pobitým a vyplenili město, kde byla poskvrněna jejich sestra. 28 Vzali jejich brav, skot i osly, cokoli bylo ve městě i na poli – 29 všechno jejich bohatství. Všechny jejich děti a ženy zajali a vše, co bylo v domech, vyplenili. 30 Jákob pak Šimeonovi a Levimu vyčetl: „Přivedli jste mě do neštěstí! Zošklivili jste mě obyvatelům země, Kanaáncům i Perizejcům. Mám jen hrstku mužů; spojí-li se proti mně, zabijí mě a budu vyhlazen – já i můj dům!“ 31 Oni však řekli: „To měl s naší sestrou zacházet jako s nevěstkou?“

Die Rache an Sichem

Seine Söhne waren gerade auf dem Feld bei seiner Herde. Jakob aber schwieg bis zu ihrer Rückkehr. 6 Da kam Hamor, der Vater Sichems, zu Jakob heraus, um mit ihm darüber zu reden. 7 Als Jakobs Söhne vom Feld kamen und davon erfuhren, empfanden sie das als Beleidigung und wurden sehr zornig. Denn Sichem hatte eine Schandtat an Israel begangen, weil er bei der Tochter Jakobs gelegen hatte; so etwas darf man nicht tun. 8 Hamor redete mit ihnen und sagte: Mein Sohn Sichem hat zu eurer Tochter Zuneigung gefasst. Gebt sie ihm doch zur Frau! 9 Verschwägern wir uns; gebt uns eure Töchter und nehmt euch die unseren! 10 Ihr könnt euch bei uns ansiedeln und das Land steht euch offen. Bleibt da, zieht umher und siedelt euch an! 11 Sichem sagte zu Dinas Vater und zu ihren Brüdern: Finde ich Wohlwollen in euren Augen, dann will ich geben, was ihr auch von mir verlangt. 12 Legt mir ruhig einen hohen Brautpreis und eine Gabe auf! Ich will geben, was ihr von mir verlangt. Nur gebt mir das Mädchen zur Frau! 13 Die Söhne Jakobs antworteten Sichem und seinem Vater Hamor, aber sie redeten mit Hinterlist, weil er ihre Schwester entehrt hatte. 14 Sie sagten zu ihnen: Wir können uns nicht darauf einlassen, unsere Schwester einem Unbeschnittenen zu geben; denn das gilt bei uns als Schande. 15 Nur unter der Bedingung gehen wir darauf ein, dass ihr so werdet wie wir und alle männlichen Personen beschneiden lasst. 16 Dann würden wir euch unsere Töchter geben und wir könnten eure Töchter nehmen; wir könnten mit euch zusammenwohnen und ein einziges Volk werden. 17 Wollt ihr aber von der Beschneidung nichts wissen, so nehmen wir unsere Tochter zurück und ziehen fort. 18 Ihre Worte waren gut in den Augen Hamors und seines Sohnes Sichem. 19 Der junge Mann verlor keine Zeit, die Angelegenheit zu regeln; denn er hatte die Tochter Jakobs lieb und er war der Angesehenste von allen im Hause seines Vaters. 20 Hamor und sein Sohn Sichem gingen an das Tor ihrer Stadt und sprachen zu ihren Mitbürgern: 21 Diese Männer leben in Frieden mit uns. Sie sollen sich im Land ansiedeln und darin umherziehen. Siehe, das Land hat nach allen Seiten Platz genug für sie. Wir könnten ihre Töchter zu Frauen nehmen und unsere Töchter ihnen geben. 22 Allerdings sind die Männer nur unter dieser Bedingung einverstanden, mit uns zusammenzuwohnen und ein einziges Volk zu werden, wenn sich bei uns alle Männer beschneiden lassen, so wie sie beschnitten sind. 23 Ihre Herden, ihr Besitz und all ihr Vieh, könnte das nicht uns gehören? The Defiling of Dinah

1 Now Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, went out to see the women of the land. (Gn 30,21) 2 And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the land, saw her, he seized her and lay with her and humiliated her. (Sk 7,16) 3 And his soul was drawn to Dinah the daughter of Jacob. He loved the young woman and spoke tenderly to her. 4 So Shechem spoke to his father Hamor, saying, “Get me this girl for my wife.” (Sd 14,2) 5 Now Jacob heard that he had defiled his daughter Dinah. But his sons were with his livestock in the field, so Jacob held his peace until they came. 6 And Hamor the father of Shechem went out to Jacob to speak with him. 7 The sons of Jacob had come in from the field as soon as they heard of it, and the men were indignant and very angry, because he had done an outrageous thing in Israel by lying with Jacob’s daughter, for such a thing must not be done. 8 But Hamor spoke with them, saying, “The soul of my son Shechem longs for your^[1] daughter. Please give her to him to be his wife. 9 Make marriages with us. Give your daughters to us, and take our daughters for yourselves. 10 You shall dwell with us, and the land shall be open to you. 11 Shechem also said to her father and to her brothers, “Let me find favor in your eyes, and whatever you say to me I will give. (Gn 33,15) 12 Ask me for as great a bride-price^[2] and gift as you will, and I will give whatever you say to me. Only give me the young woman to be my wife.” (Ex 22,16; Dt 22,29; 1S 18,25) 13 The sons of Jacob answered Shechem and his father Hamor deceitfully, because he had defiled their sister Dinah. 14 They said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a disgrace to us. (Jz 5,9) 15 Only on this condition will we agree with you—that you will become as we are by every male among you being circumcised. 16 Then we will give our daughters to you, and we will take your daughters to ourselves, and we will dwell with you and become one people. 17 But if you will not listen to us and be circumcised, then we will take our daughter, and we will be gone.” 18 Their words pleased Hamor and Hamor’s son Shechem. 19 And the young man did not delay to do the thing, because he delighted in Jacob’s daughter. Now he was the most honored of all his father’s house. (1Pa 4,9) 20 So Hamor and his son Shechem came to the gate of their city and spoke to the men of their city, saying, (Rt 4,1) 21 “These men are at peace with us; let them dwell in the land and trade in it, for behold, the land is large enough for them. Let us take their daughters as wives, and let us give them our daughters. (Gn 34,10; Gn 42,34) 22 Only on this condition will the men agree to dwell with us to become one people—when every male among us is circumcised as they are circumcised. 23 Will not their livestock, their property and all their beasts be ours? Only let us agree with them, and they will dwell with us.” 24 And all who went out of the gate of his city listened to Hamor and his son Shechem, and every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city. (Gn 23,10) 25 On the third day, when they were sore, two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, took their swords and came against the city while it felt secure and killed all the males. (Gn 29,33; Gn 30,21; Gn 49,5) 26 They killed Hamor and his son Shechem with the sword and took Dinah out of Shechem’s house and went away. 27 The sons of Jacob came upon the slain and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister. 28 They took their flocks and their herds, their donkeys, and whatever was in the city and in the field. 29 All their wealth, all their little ones and their wives, all that was in the houses, they captured and plundered. 30 Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “You have brought trouble on me by making me stink to the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites and the Perizzites. 1 And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land. 2 And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her. 3 And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel. 4 And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife. 5 And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter: now his sons were with his cattle in the field: and Jacob held his peace until they were come. 6 And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him. 7 And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it : and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob' daughter; which thing ought not to be done. 8 And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife. 9 And make ye marriages with us, and give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you. 10 And ye shall dwell with us: and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade ye therein, and get you possessions therein. 11 And Shechem said unto her father and unto her brethren, Let me find grace in your eyes, and what ye shall say unto me I will give. 12 Ask me never so much dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say unto me: but give me the damsel to wife. 13 And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister: 14 And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us: 15 But in this will we consent unto you: If ye will be as we be , that every male of you be circumcised; 16 Then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people. 17 But if ye will not hearken unto us, to be circumcised; then will we take our daughter, and we will be gone. 18 And their words pleased Hamor, and Shechem Hamor' son. 19 And the young man deferred not to do the thing, because he had delight in Jacob' daughter: and he was more honourable than all the house of his father. 20 And Hamor and Shechem his son came unto the gate of their city, and communed with the men of their city, saying, 21 These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade therein; for the land, behold, it is large enough for them; let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our daughters. 22 Only herein will the men consent unto us for to dwell with us, to be one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they are circumcised. 23 Shall not their cattle and their substance and every beast of theirs be ours? only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us. 24 And unto Hamor and unto Shechem his son hearkened all that went out of the gate of his city; and every male was circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city. 25 And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah' brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males. 26 And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem' house, and went out. 27 The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister. 28 They took their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and that which was in the city, and that which was in the field, 29 And all their wealth, and all their little ones, and their wives took they captive, and spoiled even all that was in the house. 30 And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house. 31 And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot?
