1Abraham pak opět pojal ženu jménem Ceturu.2Kterážto porodila jemu Zamrana, a Jeksana, a Madana, a Madiana, Jezbocha a Suecha.3Jeksan potom zplodil Sábu a Dedana. A uslyšel jej Hospodin; a tak počala Rebeka manželka jeho.22A když se děti potiskali v životě jejím, řekla: Má-liť tak býti, proč jsem já počala? Šla tedy, aby se otázala Hospodina.23I řekl jí Hospodin: Dva národové jsou v životě tvém, a dvůj lid z života tvého se rozdělí; lid pak jeden nad druhý bude silnější, a větší sloužiti bude menšímu.24A když se naplnili dnové její, aby porodila, a aj, blíženci byli v životě jejím.25I vyšel první ryšavý všecken, a jako oděv chlupatý; i nazvali jméno jeho Ezau.26Potom pak vyšel bratr jeho, a rukou svou držel Ezau za patu; pročež nazváno jest jméno jeho Jákob. A byl Izák v šedesáti letech, když ona je porodila.27A když dorostli ti děti, byl Ezau lovec umělý, chodě po polích; Jákob pak byl muž prostý a v staních bydlil.28I byl Izák laskav na Ezau, proto že z lovu jeho míval pokrm; ale Rebeka laskava byla na Jákoba.29Uvařil pak Jákob krmičku. Tedy Ezau přišel z pole zemdlený,30A řekl Jákobovi: Dej mi, prosím, jísti krmě té červené, nebo jsem umdlel. (Protož nazváno jest jméno jeho Edom.)31Odpověděl Jákob: Prodej mi dnes hned prvorozenství své.32I řekl Ezau: Aj, já k smrti se blížím, k čemuž mi tedy to prvorozenství?33Dí Jákob: Přisáhni mi dnes hned. I přisáhl mu, a prodal prvorozenství své Jákobovi.34Tedy Jákob dal Ezauchovi chleba a té krmě z šocovice. Kterýžto jedl a pil, a vstav, odšel; a tak pohrdl Ezau prvorozenstvím.
— Abrahamovi potomci - Po Sářině smrti zplodí Abraham šest synů s Ketúrou. Nositeli odkazu však nejsou oni ani Izmael, nýbrž Izák.
1 Abraham si vzal opět ženu; jmenovala se Ketúra.2 Porodila mu Zimrána a Jokšána, Medána a Midjána, Jišbáka a Šúacha.3 Jokšán zplodil Šebu a Dedána. Synové Dedánovi byli Ašúrejci a Letúšejci a Leumejci.4 Midjánovi synové byli Éfa a Efer a Chanók, Abída a Eldáa. Ti všichni jsou synové Ketúřini.5 Abraham však všechno, co měl, odkázal Izákovi.6 Synům svých ženin, které měl, dal dary a ještě za svého života je poslal od svého syna Izáka pryč na východ, do země východní.7 Toto jsou léta Abrahamova života, jichž se dožil: sto sedmdesát pět let.8 I zesnul Abraham a zemřel v utěšeném stáří, stár a sytý dnů, a byl připojen k svému lidu.9 Jeho synové Izák a Izmael ho pochovali do makpelské jeskyně na poli Efróna, syna Chetejce Sóchara, naproti Mamre.10 To pole koupil Abraham od Chetejců. Tam byl pochován Abraham i jeho žena Sára.11 Po Abrahamově smrti požehnal Bůh jeho synu Izákovi. A Izák sídlil u Studnice Živého, který mě vidí. 12 Toto je rodopis Abrahamova syna Izmaela, kterého Abrahamovi porodila Sářina otrokyně Hagar egyptská.13 Toto jsou jména Izmaelových synů, podle nichž jsou pojmenovány jejich rody: Izmaelův prvorozený Nebajót, Kédar, Adbeel a Mibsám,14 Mišma, Dúma a Masa,15 Chadad, Téma, Jetúr, Náfiš a Kedma.16 To jsou Izmaelovi synové a to jsou jejich jména podle jejich dvorců a hradišť; dvanáct předáků jejich národů.17 A toto jsou léta Izmaelova života: sto třicet sedm let. I zesnul a zemřel a byl připojen k svému lidu.18 Jeho synové bydleli od Chavíly až k Šúru proti Egyptu a směrem k Asýrii. Izmael se položil proti všem svým bratřím.
Izák - IZÁKOVI SYNOVÉ - Narození Ezaua a Jákoba. Ezau prvorozenstvím pohrdá, Jákob je uchvacuje.
19 Toto je rodopis Abrahamova syna Izáka: Abraham zplodil Izáka.20 Izákovi bylo čtyřicet let, když si vzal za ženu Rebeku, dceru Aramejce Betúela z Rovin aramských, sestru Aramejce Lábana.21 Izák prosil Hospodina za svou ženu, protože byla neplodná. Hospodin jeho prosby přijal, a jeho žena Rebeka otěhotněla.22 Děti se však začaly v jejím těle strkat. Tu řekla: „Je-li tomu tak, co mě čeká?“ A šla se dotázat Hospodina.23 Hospodin jí řekl: „Ve tvém životě jsou dva pronárody. Oba národy se rozejdou, jen co z tebe vyjdou. Jeden národ bude zdatnější než druhý, bezpočetný bude sloužit počtem skrovnějšímu.“ 24 Potom se naplnily dny, kdy měla rodit. A hle, v jejím životě byla dvojčata.25 První vyšel celý červenohnědý a chlupatý jako kožíšek; toho pojmenovali Ezau.26 Potom vyšel jeho bratr a rukou držel Ezaua za patu; ten dostal jméno Jákob. Při jejich narození bylo Izákovi šedesát let.27 Když chlapci dospěli, stal se Ezau mužem znalým lovu, mužem pole, kdežto Jákob byl muž bezúhonný a sídlil ve stanech.28 Izák miloval Ezaua, protože z lovu měl co do úst, kdežto Rebeka milovala Jákoba.29 Jákob jednou připravil krmi. Tu přišel Ezau z pole znavený30 a řekl Jákobovi: „Dej mi zhltnout trochu toho červeného, toho krvavého, jsem znaven k smrti.“ Proto se jmenuje Edóm (to je Červený).31 Jákob však řekl: „Prodej mi dnes své prvorozenství!“32 Ezau na to odvětil: „Stejně mám blízko k smrti, k čemu je mi prvorozenství!“33 Jákob řekl: „Odpřisáhni mi to dnes.“ A on mu to odpřisáhl, a tak své prvorozenství prodal Jákobovi.34 Jákob dal pak Ezauovi chléb a čočkovou krmi. Ten pojedl, napil se, vstal a odešel. Tak Ezau pohrdl prvorozenstvím.

Tam je pochován Abraham i jeho žena Sára.11Po Abrahamově smrti Bůh požehnal jeho synu Izákovi a Izák bydlel u Studnice Živého, který mne vidí.
Izmaelovo potomstvo
12Toto je rod Abrahamova syna Izmaele, kterého Abrahamovi porodila Sářina otrokyně, Egypťanka Hagar.13Toto jsou jména Izmaelových synů podle pořadí jejich narození: Izmaelův prvorozený Nebajot, potom Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,14Mišma, Duma, Massa,15Chadad, Tema, Jetur, Nafiš a Kedma.16Toto jsou Izmaelovi synové a tato jsou jejich jména v jejich sídlištích a osadách – dvanáctero knížat jednotlivých kmenů.17Izmael se dožil 137 let. Potom vydechl naposled a byl připojen ke svému lidu.18Jeho synové se usadili od Chavíly až k Šuru (který leží před Egyptem směrem k Asýrii). A Izmael zemřel v neshodě se všemi příbuznými.
Jákob a Ezau
19Toto je příběh Abrahamova syna Izáka. Abraham zplodil Izáka.20Když bylo Izákovi čtyřicet let, oženil se s Rebekou, dcerou Aramejce Betuela z Padan-aramu, sestrou Aramejce Lábana.21Izák se za svou ženu modlil k Hospodinu, protože byla neplodná. Hospodin ho vyslyšel a Rebeka, jeho žena, počala.22Když se však děti v jejím lůně mačkaly, řekla: „Proč se mi tohle děje?“ A tak se šla ptát Hospodina23a Hospodin jí řekl: „Ve tvém lůnu jsou dva národy; dvojí lid se z tvých útrob rozdělí. Jeden lid bude silnější než druhý a starší mladšímu bude služebník.“24Když se naplnil čas a měla porodit, hle, v jejím lůnu byla dvojčata.25Ten, který vyšel první, byl celý zrzavý jako plášť z kožešiny, a tak mu dali jméno Ezau, Chlupáč.26Za ním pak vyšel jeho bratr a rukou držel Ezaua za patu. Dostal tedy jméno Jákob, to jest Bude v patách.[1] Když je Rebeka porodila, bylo Izákovi šedesát let.27Chlapci vyrostli a Ezau se stal mužem znalým lovu, mužem divočiny, zatímco Jákob byl spořádaný muž a zdržoval se doma.28Izák si oblíbil Ezaua, neboť mu chutnala zvěřina, ale Rebeka si oblíbila Jákoba.29Jednou, když Jákob uvařil kaši, přišel Ezau z pole celý vyčerpaný.30Ezau tehdy Jákobovi řekl: „Dej mi přece hlt toho červeného, tady toho červeného jídla, vždyť jsem vyčerpaný!“ (A proto se mu říká Edom, Červený.)31Jákob navrhl: „Prodej mi teď hned své prvorozenství.“32„Vidíš, že skoro umírám!“ odpověděl Ezau. „K čemu je mi prvorozenství?“33„Hned teď mi to tu odpřisáhni!“ řekl mu Jákob. Ezau mu to odpřisáhl a prodal své prvorozenství Jákobovi.34Jákob pak dal Ezauovi chléb a čočkovou kaši, ten se najedl a napil a pak vstal a odešel. Tak Ezau pohrdl prvorozenstvím.
1Abraham nahm sich noch eine andere Frau, namens Ketura.2Sie gebar ihm Simran, Jokschan, Medan, Midian, Jischbak und Schuach.3Jokschan zeugte Saba und Dedan. Die Söhne Dedans waren die Aschuriter, die Letuschiter und die Lëummiter.4Die Söhne Midians waren Efa, Efer, Henoch, Abida und Eldaga. Sie alle waren Söhne Keturas.5Abraham gab Isaak alles, was ihm gehörte.6Den Söhnen der Nebenfrauen, die Abraham hatte, gab Abraham Geschenke und schickte sie noch zu seinen Lebzeiten weit weg von seinem Sohn Isaak nach Osten, ins Morgenland.
Abrahams Tod und Begräbnis
7Das ist die Zahl der Lebensjahre Abrahams: Hundertfünfundsiebzig Jahre wurde er alt.8Dann verschied er. Er starb in glücklichem Alter, betagt und lebenssatt, und wurde mit seinen Vorfahren vereint.9Seine Söhne Isaak und Ismael begruben ihn in der Höhle von Machpela gegenüber Mamre, auf dem Feld des Hetiters Efron, des Sohnes Zohars, (Gn 23,1)10auf dem Feld, das Abraham von den Hetitern erworben hatte. Dort sind Abraham und seine Frau Sara begraben.11Nach dem Tod Abrahams segnete Gott seinen Sohn Isaak und Isaak ließ sich beim Brunnen Lahai-Roï nieder. (Gn 16,14)
Die Nachkommen Ismaels
12Das ist die Geschlechterfolge Ismaels, des Sohnes Abrahams. Ihn hatte die Ägypterin Hagar, die Sklavin Saras, Abraham geboren.13Das sind die Söhne Ismaels nach ihren Namen und nach ihrer Geschlechterfolge: Der Erstgeborene Ismaels war Nebajot; dann kamen Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,14Mischma, Duma, Massa,15Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Nafisch und Kedma.16Das waren die Söhne Ismaels und das waren ihre Namen in ihren Siedlungen und Zeltlagern: zwölf Fürsten, je einer für einen Stamm.17Und das ist die Zahl der Lebensjahre Ismaels: hundertsiebenunddreißig Jahre. Dann verschied er und wurde mit seinen Vorfahren vereint.18Ihr Siedlungsgebiet reichte von Hawila bis Schur, das Ägypten gegenüber an der Straße nach Assur liegt. Im Angesicht aller seiner Brüder fiel ihm sein Wohngebiet zu. (Gn 16,12)
Esaus und Jakobs Geburt
19Und das ist die Geschlechterfolge Isaaks, des Sohnes von Abraham: Abraham zeugte Isaak.20Isaak war vierzig Jahre alt, als er sich Rebekka zur Frau nahm. Sie war die Tochter des Aramäers Betuël aus Paddan-Aram, eine Schwester des Aramäers Laban. (Gn 24,1)21Isaak betete zum HERRN für seine Frau, denn sie war kinderlos geblieben, und der HERR ließ sich von ihm erbitten. Als seine Frau Rebekka schwanger war, (Gn 11,30; Gn 29,31)22stießen die Söhne einander im Mutterleib. Da sagte sie: Wenn das so ist, was soll dann aus mir werden? Sie ging, um den HERRN zu befragen.23Der HERR gab diese Antwort:
Zwei Völker sind in deinem Leib, / zwei Stämme trennen sich schon in deinem Schoß. / Ein Stamm ist dem andern überlegen, / der ältere muss dem jüngeren dienen.24Als die Zeit ihrer Niederkunft gekommen war, siehe, da waren Zwillinge in ihrem Schoß.25Der Erste, der hervorkam, war rötlich, über und über mit Haaren bedeckt wie mit einem Mantel. Sie gaben ihm den Namen Esau.26Darauf kam sein Bruder hervor; seine Hand hielt die Ferse Esaus fest. Man gab ihm den Namen Jakob, Fersenhalter. Isaak war sechzig Jahre alt, als sie geboren wurden. Der Verkauf des Erstgeburtsrechtes
27Die Knaben wuchsen heran. Esau wurde ein Mann, der sich auf die Jagd verstand, ein Mann des freien Feldes. Jakob war ein Mann ohne Fehl und blieb bei den Zelten.28Isaak liebte Esau; denn er aß gern Wildbret. Rebekka aber liebte Jakob.29Einst kochte Jakob ein Gericht. Da kam Esau vom Feld; er war erschöpft.30Esau sagte zu Jakob: Lass mich doch schnell essen von dem Roten, von dem Roten da, denn ich bin erschöpft! Deshalb gab man ihm den Namen Edom, Roter.31Jakob aber sagte: Verkauf mir zuvor dein Erstgeburtsrecht! (Dt 21,17)32Esau sagte: Siehe, ich sterbe vor Hunger. Was soll mir da das Erstgeburtsrecht?33Jakob aber sagte: Schwöre mir zuvor! Da schwor er ihm und verkaufte sein Erstgeburtsrecht an Jakob. The Birth of Esau and Jacob
19These are the generations of Isaac, Abraham’s son: Abraham fathered Isaac, (Mt 1,2)20and Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean of Paddan-aram, the sister of Laban the Aramean, to be his wife. (Gn 22,23; Gn 24,29; Gn 28,2)21And Isaac prayed to the Lord for his wife, because she was barren. And the Lord granted his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived. Esau Sells His Birthright
29Once when Jacob was cooking stew, Esau came in from the field, and he was exhausted.30And Esau said to Jacob, “Let me eat some of that red stew, for I am exhausted!” (Therefore his name was called Edom.[5])31Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright now.”32Esau said, “I am about to die; of what use is a birthright to me?”33Jacob said, “Swear to me now.” So he swore to him and sold his birthright to Jacob. All these were the children of Keturah.5And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.6But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.7And these are the days of the years of Abraham' life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.8Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years ; and was gathered to his people.9And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;10The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.11And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.12Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham' son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah' handmaid, bare unto Abraham:13And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,14And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,15Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:16These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.17And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people.18And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.19And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham' son: Abraham begat Isaac:20And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.21And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.22And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.23And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.24And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.25And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.26And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau' heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.27And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.28And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.29And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:30And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage ; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.31And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.32And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?33And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.34Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.
