1 Tedy král Darius rozkázal, aby hledali v bibliotéce, mezi poklady složenými v Babyloně. 2 I nalezena jest v Achmeta na hradě, kterýž jest v Médské krajině, jedna kniha, a takto zapsána byla v ní pamět: 3 Léta prvního Cýra krále Cýrus král rozkázal: Dům Boží, kterýž byl v Jeruzalémě, ať jest v městě staven na místě, kdež se obětují oběti, a grunty jeho ať vzhůru ženou, zvýší loktů šedesáti, a zšíří loktů šedesáti, 4 Třmi řady z kamení velikého, a řad z dříví nového, náklad pak z domu královského bude dáván. 5 Nadto nádobí domu Božího zlaté i stříbrné, kteréž Nabuchodonozor byl pobral z chrámu, jenž byl v Jeruzalémě, a byl je přenesl do Babylona, ať zase navrátí, aby se dostalo do chrámu Jeruzalémského na místo své, a složeno bylo v domě Božím. 6 Protož nyní, ty Tattenai, vývodo za řekou, Setarbozenai s tovaryši svými, i Afarsechaiští, kteříž jste za řekou, ustupte odtud. 7 Nechte jich při díle toho domu Božího. Vůdce Židovský a starší jejich nechať ten dům Boží stavějí na místě jeho. 8 Ode mne také poručeno jest o tom, co byste měli činiti s staršími Židovskými při stavení toho domu Božího, totiž, aby z zboží královského, z důchodů, jenž jsou za řekou, bez meškání náklad dáván byl mužům těm, aby dílo nemělo překážky. 9 A to, čehož by bylo potřebí, buď volků aneb skopců i beránků k zápalným obětem Boha nebeského, obilé, soli, vína i oleje, jakž by rozkázali kněží Jeruzalémští, nechť se jim dává na každý den, a to beze všeho podvodu, 10 Aby měli z čeho obětovati vůni příjemnou Bohu nebeskému, a aby se modlili za život krále i za syny jeho. 11 Nadto ode mne jest rozkázáno: Kdož by koli zrušil přikázaní toto, aby vybořeno bylo z domu jeho dřevo, a zdviženo bylo, na němž by oběšen byl, a dům jeho ať jest hnojištěm pro takovou věc. 12 Bůh pak, jehož jméno tam přebývá, zkaziž všelikého krále i lid, kterýž by vztáhl ruku svou k změnění toho, a zkáze toho domu Božího, jenž jest v Jeruzalémě. Já Darius přikazuji sám, bez meškání ať se stane. 13 Tedy Tattenai, vývoda za řekou, a Setarbozenai s tovaryši svými vedlé toho, jakž rozkázal Darius král, tak učinili bez meškání. 14 I stavěli starší Židovští, a šťastně se jim vedlo vedlé proroctví Aggea proroka, a Zachariáše syna Iddova. Já, Dareios, jsem vydal tento rozkaz. Ať je svědomitě prováděn!“ 13 Tatenaj, místodržitel zaeufratský, a Šetar-bóznaj se svými druhy jednali svědomitě podle pokynů krále Dareia. 14 Židovští starší stavěli a dílo se jim dařilo, jak prorokovali proroci Ageus a Zacharjáš, syn Idův. Stavbu dokončili podle rozkazu Boha Izraele a podle rozkazu Kýra, Dareia a Artaxerxa, králů perských. 15 Dům byl dostavěn třetího dne měsíce adaru v šestém roce kralování krále Dareia. 16 I slavili Izraelci, kněží, levité i ostatní synové přesídlenců s radostí posvěcení domu Božího. 17 Při posvěcení Božího domu obětovali sto býků, dvě stě beranů, čtyři sta beránků a jako oběť za hřích celého Izraele dvanáct kozlů, podle počtu izraelských kmenů. 18 Ustanovili kněze podle tříd i levity podle skupin, aby vykonávali v Jeruzalémě bohoslužbu, jak je psáno v Knize Mojžíšově. 19 Potom čtrnáctého dne prvního měsíce slavili synové přesídlenců hod beránka. 20 Kněží i levité se do jednoho očistili. Všichni byli čisti. Zabíjeli velikonočního beránka pro všechny syny přesídlenců, pro své bratry kněze i pro sebe. 21 I jedli Izraelci, kteří se vrátili z přesídlení, i každý, kdo se k nim připojil a oddělil od nečistoty pohanů v zemi, aby se dotazoval Hospodina, Boha Izraele. 22 Po sedm dní slavili s radostí slavnost nekvašených chlebů, protože Hospodin jim způsobil radost, když jim naklonil srdce asyrského krále, aby je podpořil při díle Božího domu, domu Boha Izraele.

Dareiův edikt

1 Král Dareios tedy nařídil, ať jsou prohledány záznamy uložené v babylonské archivní knihovně. 2 Až v Ekbataně, hlavním městě médské provincie, se nalezl svitek obsahující tento záznam: 3 Král Kýros v prvním roce své vlády vydal nařízení o Božím domě v Jeruzalémě: Nechť je ten dům vystavěn na místě, kam se přinášely oběti, a to na původních základech. Nechť je 30 loktů vysoký, 60 loktů dlouhý a 20 loktů široký.^[1] 4 Po třech vrstvách tesaných kvádrů nechť následuje vrstva dřeva. Náklady budou hrazeny z královské pokladny. 5 Zlaté a stříbrné náčiní Božího domu, které Nabukadnezar odnesl z jeruzalémského chrámu a zanesl do Babylonu, bude vráceno. Nechť je odneseno na své místo do chrámu v Jeruzalémě, kde je složíte v Božím domě. 6 Odpověď zněla: Tatenajovi, hejtmanu zaeufratského kraje, Štar-boznajovi a ostatním úředníkům za Eufratem: Nevměšujte se! 7 Nerušte práci na Božím domě. Židovský správce a židovští stařešinové nechť budují Boží dům na původním místě. 8 Tímto nařizuji, abyste židovským stařešinům byli při stavbě Božího domu nápomocni: Náklady nechť jsou jim bezodkladně propláceny z královského majetku, totiž z daní zaeufratského kraje, aby se práce nezdržovala. 9 Cokoli dalšího bude potřeba – ať býčci, berani či jehňata k zápalným obětem Bohu nebes, pšenice, sůl, víno či olej – cokoli si budou jeruzalémští kněží přát, nechť jim je denně bez prodlení dodáváno, 10 aby přinášeli Bohu nebes příjemné oběti a modlili se za život krále a jeho synů. 11 Dále nařizuji, aby každému, kdo tento výnos poruší, byl z domu vytržen trám, na němž bude vyzdvižen a zbičován; jeho dům ať se pak stane hnojištěm. 12 Bůh, jehož jméno přebývá v Jeruzalémě, nechť poníží každého krále i lid, který by vztáhl ruku, aby porušil či poškodil tamější dům Boží. Já, Dareios, vydávám toto nařízení. Budiž provedeno bezodkladně.

Chrám dokončen

13 Hejtman zaeufratského kraje Tatenaj, Štar-boznaj i ostatní úředníci se tedy bezodkladně zařídili podle dopisu krále Dareia. 14 Židovští stařešinové stavěli a dílo rostlo, jak prorokoval prorok Ageus a Zachariáš, syn Idův. Na pokyn Boha Izraele a na pokyn perských králů Kýra, Dareia a Artaxerxe nakonec stavbu dokončili. 15 Chrám byl dokončen třetího dne měsíce adaru v šestém roce vlády krále Dareia.^[2] 16 Synové Izraele, kněží, levité i ostatní navrátilci pak Boží chrám šťastně zasvětili. 17 K zasvěcení Božího domu bylo obětováno 100 býků, 200 beranů a 400 jehňat. Jako oběť za hřích celého Izraele bylo obětováno 12 kozlů podle počtu izraelských kmenů. 18 K Boží službě v Jeruzalémě postavili kněze podle jejich tříd a levity podle jejich oddílů, jak je psáno v Knize Mojžíšově.^[3] 19 Čtrnáctého dne prvního měsíce^[4] slavili navrátilci Hod beránka. 20 Kněží se proto očišťovali a stejně tak levité. Když byli všichni do jednoho čistí, porazili beránka všem navrátilcům, svým bratřím kněžím i sobě. 21 Beránka jedli synové Izraele navrácení ze zajetí a s nimi každý, kdo se oddělil od nečistoty okolních národů, aby hledal Hospodina, Boha Izraele. 22 Po sedm dní šťastně slavili Svátek nekvašených chlebů, neboť je Hospodin obšťastnil, když jim naklonil srdce asyrského krále, aby je podpořil v práci na Božím chrámu, na domě Boha Izraele.

Seine Fundamente sollen erhalten bleiben. Seine Höhe soll sechzig Ellen betragen und seine Breite zwanzig Ellen. (1Kr 6,2) 4 Auf drei Lagen Quadersteinen soll eine Lage Holz kommen. The Decree of Darius

1 Then Darius the king made a decree, and search was made in Babylonia, in the house of the archives where the documents were stored. Its height shall be sixty cubits^[1] and its breadth sixty cubits, 4 with three layers of great stones and one layer of timber. Let the cost be paid from the royal treasury. Passover Celebrated

19 On the fourteenth day of the first month, the returned exiles kept the Passover. (Ex 12,6) 20 For the priests and the Levites had purified themselves together; all of them were clean. So they slaughtered the Passover lamb for all the returned exiles, for their fellow priests, and for themselves. And they builded, and finished it , according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia. 15 And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king. 16 And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy, 17 And offered at the dedication of this house of God an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Israel, twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel. 18 And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses. 19 And the children of the captivity kept the passover upon the fourteenth day of the first month. 20 For the priests and the Levites were purified together, all of them were pure, and killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves. 21 And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the LORD God of Israel, did eat, 22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the LORD had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.
