1Když pak nastal měsíc sedmý, a byli synové Izraelští v městech, shromáždil se lid jednomyslně do Jeruzaléma.2Tedy vstav Jesua syn Jozadakův s bratřími svými kněžími, a Zorobábel syn Salatielův s bratřími svými, vzdělali oltář Boha Izraelského, aby obětovali na něm oběti zápalné, jakož psáno jest v zákoně Mojžíše muže Božího.3A když postavili oltář ten na základích jeho, ačkoli se obávali národů jiných zemí, však obětovali na něm oběti zápalné Hospodinu, oběti zápalné ráno i večer.4Drželi také slavnost stánků, jakož psáno jest, obětujíce zápal na každý den, vedlé počtu a vedlé obyčeje každého dne,5A potom obět zápalnou ustavičnou, i na novměsíce i na každou slavnost Hospodinu posvěcenou, i od každého dobrovolně obětujícího dobrovolnou obět Hospodinu.6Od prvního dne toho měsíce sedmého počali obětovati zápalů Hospodinu, ačkoli chrám Hospodinův ještě nebyl založen.7I dali peníze kameníkům a řemeslníkům, též potravy a nápoje i oleje Sidonským a Tyrským, aby vezli dříví cedrové z Libánu k moři Joppen, podlé povolení jim Cýra krále Perského.8Léta pak druhého po jejich se navrácení k domu Božímu do Jeruzaléma, měsíce druhého, začali Zorobábel syn Salatielův, a Jesua syn Jozadakův, i jiní bratří jejich kněží a Levítové a všickni, kteříž byli přišli z toho zajetí do Jeruzaléma, a ustanovili Levíty od dvadcítiletých a výše, aby přihlédali k dílu domu Hospodinova.9A tak postaven jest Jesua, synové jeho i bratří jeho, Kadmiel i synové jeho, synové Judovi spolu, aby přihlédali k dílu při domě Božím, potomci Chenadadovi, synové jejich i bratří jejich Levítové.10A když zakládali grunty stavitelé chrámu Hospodinova, postavili kněží zobláčené s trubami, a Levíty, syny Azafovy s cymbály, aby chválili Hospodina vedlé nařízení Davida krále Izraelského.11I prozpěvovali jedni po druhých, chválíce a oslavujíce Hospodina, nebo dobrý jest, a že na věky trvá milosrdenství jeho nad Izraelem. Všecken také lid prokřikoval hlasem velikým, chválíce Hospodina, proto že založen byl dům Hospodinův.12Mnozí pak z kněží a z Levítů i z knížat čeledí otcovských, starci, kteříž byli viděli prvnější dům, když zakládali tento dům před očima jejich, plakali hlasem velikým. Mnozí nazpět prokřikovali s radostí hlasem velikým,13Tak že lid nemohl rozeznati hlasu prokřikování radostného od hlasu plačícího lidu; nebo lid ten prokřikoval hlasem velikým, a hlas ten slyšán byl daleko.
BUDOVÁNÍ CHRÁMU - — Kladení základů - Lid obnovuje službu u oltáře a klade základy chrámu.
1 Když nastal sedmý měsíc a Izraelci již byli v městech, shromáždil se lid jednomyslně do Jeruzaléma.2 Jéšua, syn Jósadakův, s bratry kněžími a Zerubábel, syn Šealtíelův, se svými bratry začali budovat oltář Bohu Izraele, aby na něm mohli obětovat zápalné oběti, jak je předepsáno v zákoně Mojžíše, muže Božího.3 Zřídili oltář na jeho původních základech, neboť žili ve strachu z národů zemí, a obětovali na něm zápalné oběti Hospodinu, zápaly jitřní a večerní.4 Potom slavili svátek stánků, jak je předepsáno. Každý den přinášeli zápalné oběti v počtu stanoveném pro onen den.5 Vedle nich také každodenní zápalnou oběť, oběť při každém novoluní a při všech slavnostech zasvěcených Hospodinu, mimo vše, co kdo Hospodinu obětoval dobrovolně.6 V první den sedmého měsíce začali obětovat zápalné oběti Hospodinu, i když ještě nebyly položeny základy Hospodinova chrámu.7 Dali peníze kameníkům a tesařům, potravu, nápoj a olej Sidóňanům a Týřanům, aby dopravovali cedrové dříví z Libanónu k moři do Jafy podle povolení, které jim dal perský král Kýros. 8 Druhého roku druhého měsíce po svém příchodu k Božímu domu do Jeruzaléma začali Zerubábel, syn Šealtíelův, a Jéšua, syn Jósadakův, s ostatními bratry kněžími a levity, se všemi, kteří přišli ze zajetí do Jeruzaléma, ustanovovat levity starší dvaceti let, aby řídili dílo Hospodinova domu.9 Tak nastoupili společně Jéšua se syny a bratry, Kadmíel se syny, synové Judovi, také synové Chenadadovi se syny a bratry levity, aby řídili postup práce při díle Božího domu. 10 Když stavitelé Hospodinova chrámu kladli základy, ustanovili kněze s pozouny, oblečené do svátečních rouch, a levity, syny Asafovy, s cymbály, aby chválili Hospodina podle řádu izraelského krále Davida.11 Opěvovali Hospodina a vzdávali mu chválu a čest, že je dobrý, že jeho milosrdenství nad Izraelem je věčné. A všechen lid mohutným hlaholem chválil Hospodina, že byly položeny základy Hospodinova domu.12 Mnozí z kněží a levitů i představitelů rodů, starci, kteří viděli dřívější dům, dali se do hlasitého pláče, když byly kladeny základy tohoto domu před jejich očima. Mnozí však radostně hlaholili, až se to rozléhalo.13 Radostný hlahol nebylo možno rozeznat od pláče lidu. Lid totiž hlaholil tak mohutným hlaholem, že se to rozléhalo dodaleka.
1S příchodem sedmého měsíce[1] už byli synové Izraele usazeni ve městech. Jako jeden muž se ale shromáždili k Jeruzalému,2neboť Jošua, syn Jocadakův, se svými bratry kněžími a Zerubábel, syn Šealtielův, se svými bratry začali stavět oltář Bohu Izraele, aby na něm mohli přinášet zápalné oběti, jak je psáno v Zákoně Božího služebníka Mojžíše.[2]3Obnovili oltář na původních základech. Přestože měli obavy z okolních národů, přinesli na něm zápalné oběti Hospodinu, a sice ranní i večerní zápalné oběti.4Slavili také Svátek stánků, jak je psáno.[3] Den co den přinášeli předepsané zápalné oběti5a také stálou zápalnou oběť při novoluních a při všech Hospodinových slavnostech, za každého, kdo dobrovolně přinášel oběť Hospodinu.6Zápalné oběti Hospodinu začali přinášet od prvního dne sedmého měsíce, ačkoli Hospodinův chrám ještě neměl ani základy.
Základy chrámu
7Podle povolení od krále Kýra pak dali peníze kameníkům a tesařům a za jídlo, pití a olej najali Sidonské a Týrské, aby po moři přivezli cedrové dřevo z Libanonu do Jafy.8Druhého měsíce druhého roku[4] po svém příchodu k Božímu domu do Jeruzaléma zahájili Zerubábel, syn Šealtielův, a Jošua, syn Jocadakův, stavbu. Zbytek lidu (kněží, levité i všichni, kdo se vrátili ze zajetí do Jeruzaléma), se k nim připojil a dohledem nad stavbou Hospodinova chrámu pověřili levity starší dvaceti let.9Řízení prací na Božím domě se ujal Jošua se svými syny a bratry, Kadmiel se svými syny (potomky Hodaviášovými)[5] a potomci Chenadadovi se svými syny a bratry – samí levité.10Když stavitelé pokládali základy Hospodinova chrámu, kněží oblečení do slavnostních rouch stáli na svých místech s trubkami stejně jako levité, synové Asafovi, s činely, aby chválili Hospodina podle pokynů izraelského krále Davida.11Opěvovali Hospodina a vzdávali mu chválu a díky: „Je tak dobrý! Jeho láska k Izraeli trvá navěky!“ Když byl položen základ Hospodinova chrámu, všechen lid hlasitě provolával chválu Hospodinu.12Mnozí ze starších kněží, levitů a rodových vůdců, kteří ještě pamatovali původní chrám, hlasitě plakali, když na vlastní oči viděli položení základů tohoto chrámu. Mnozí jiní ale křičeli radostí,13takže zvuk pláče zanikal v radostném křiku. Lid volal hlasitě, až se to rozléhalo široko daleko.

1When the seventh month came, and the children of Israel were in the towns, the people gathered as one man to Jerusalem. Rebuilding the Temple
8Now in the second year after their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak made a beginning, together with the rest of their kinsmen, the priests and the Levites and all who had come to Jerusalem from the captivity. They appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to supervise the work of the house of the Lord. (1Pa 23,4; 1Pa 23,24; Ezd 2,2; Ezd 4,3)9And Jeshua with his sons and his brothers, and Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together supervised the workmen in the house of God, along with the sons of Henadad and the Levites, their sons and brothers.
