1Potom obrátivše se, táhli jsme na tu poušť cestou k moři Rudému, jakož mluvil Hospodin ke mně, a obcházeli jsme horu Seir za dlouhý čas,2Až mi řekl Hospodin takto:3Dosti jste již obcházeli horu tuto, obraťtež se k straně půlnoční.4A lidu přikaž, řka: Půjdete přes pomezí bratří svých synů Ezau, kteříž bydlí v Seir. Ačkoli budou se vás báti, hleďte však pilně,5Abyste jich nedráždili; nebo nedám vám z země jejich ani šlepěje nožné, proto že v dědictví Ezau dal jsem horu Seir.6Pokrmů koupíte od nich za peníze, a jísti budete, i vody také ku pití za peníze od nich jednati budete.7Nebo Hospodin Bůh tvůj požehnal tobě při všeliké práci rukou tvých, a zná, že jdeš přes poušť velikou tuto; již čtyřidceti let Hospodin Bůh tvůj byl s tebou, aniž jsi měl v čem nedostatku.8A šli jsme od bratří našich, synů Ezau, kteříž bydlí v Seir, s cesty polní od Elat a od Aziongaber, a uchýlili jsme se, abychom šli cestou po poušti Moábské.9I řekl mi Hospodin: Neškoď Moábským, ani jich popouzej k boji, nebo nedám tobě v zemi jejich dědictví, poněvadž synům Lot dal jsem Ar v dědictví.10(Emim prvé bydlili v ní, lid veliký a mnohý, a vysokého zrostu, jako Enakim.11Oni také za obry držáni byli jako Enakim, ale Moábští říkali jim Emim.12V Seir pak bydlili prvé Horejští, kteréž synové Ezau vyhnali, a zahladili je před tváří svou, a bydlili tu místo nich, jako učinil Izrael v zemi vládařství svého, kterouž jim dal Hospodin.)13Nyní vstanouce, přejděte potok Záred. I přešli jsme potok Záred.14Času pak, v němž jsme šli z Kádesbarne, až jsme přešli potok Záred, bylo let třidceti osm, dokavadž nebyl vyhlazen všecken věk mužů bojovných z prostřed stanů, jakož jim přisáhl Hospodin.15Nebo ruka Hospodinova byla proti nim k setření jich z prostředku stanů, dokudž nevyhladil jich.16I stalo se, když všickni muži ti bojovní vyhynuli z prostředku lidu,17Že mluvil Hospodin ke mně, řka:18Ty přejdeš dnes pomezí Moábské k městu Ar,19A přiblížíš se k synům Ammon. Nessužujž jich a nepopouzej jich k boji, nebo nedám tobě v zemi synů Ammon dědictví, poněvadž synům Lotovým dal jsem ji k vládařství.20(I ona také držána byla za zemi obrů; nebo obrové před tím bydlili v ní, kterýmž Ammoninští říkali Zamzomim,21Lid veliký a mnohý, a vysokého zrostu, jako Enakim. Ale zahladil je Hospodin před tváří jejich, a vešli v dědictví jejich, a bydlili na místě jejich,22Jakož učinil synům Ezau bydlícím v Seir, pro něž vyhladil Horejské před tváří jejich, i vešli v dědictví jejich, a bydlili na místě jejich až do dnešního dne.23Hevejské také, kteříž bydlili v Azerim až do Gáza, Kaftorejští, kteříž vyšli z Kaftor, zahladili je, a bydlili na místě jejich.)24Vstanouce, beřte se a přejděte potok Arnon. Hle, dal jsem v ruce tvé Seona, krále Ezebon Amorejského, a zemi jeho; začniž jí vládnouti, a bojuj válečně proti němu.25Dnes počnu pouštěti strach a lekání se tebe na lidi, kteříž jsou pode vším nebem, tak že kteřížkoli uslyší pověst o tobě, třásti a lekati se budou tváři tvé.26I poslal jsem posly z pouště Kedemot k Seonovi, králi Ezebon, s slovy pokojnými, řka:27Nechť projdu skrze zemi tvou, přímo cestou půjdu, neuchýlím se ani na pravo ani na levo.28Pokrmů za peníze prodáš mi, abych jedl, vody také za peníze dáš mi, a píti budu; toliko pěšky projdu,29Jakož mi učinili synové Ezau, kteříž bydlí v Seir, a Moábští, kteříž bydlí v Ar, dokudž nepřejdu Jordánu, jda k zemi, kterouž Hospodin Bůh náš dává nám.30Ale nechtěl dopustiti Seon, král Ezebon, abychom prošli zemi jeho; nebo byl zatvrdil Hospodin Bůh tvůj ducha jeho, a ztužil srdce jeho, aby dal jej v ruce tvé, jakož se vidí podnes.31(Nebo řekl mi byl Hospodin: Aj, již jsem počal v moc dávati tobě Seona i zemi jeho; začniž jí vládnouti, abys dědičně obdržel zemi jeho.)32A vytáhl byl Seon proti nám, on i všecken lid jeho k boji do Jasa.33I dal jej nám Hospodin Bůh náš, a porazili jsme ho s syny jeho i se vším lidem jeho.34Vzali jsme také toho času všecka města jeho, a dali jsme v prokletí lid těch všech měst, i ženy i děti, žádného nepozůstavivše.35Toliko hovada rozebrali jsme sobě, a kořisti z měst, kterýchž jsme dobyli.36Od Aroer jenž jest na břehu potoka Arnon, a od města, kteréž jest v údolí, až do Galád nebylo města, kteréž by ostáti mohlo před námi; všecka nám dal Hospodin Bůh náš.37Toliko k zemi synů Ammon nepřiblížils se, ani k žádné krajině ležící při potoku Jabok, ani k městům na horách, a k žádnému místu, kteréž zapověděl Hospodin Bůh náš.
— Další cesta k hranicím zaslíbené země - Mojžíš připomíná putování územím Edómců, Moábců a Amónovců.
1 Potom jsme se obrátili a táhli dál do pouště cestou k Rákosovému moři, jak Hospodin ke mně mluvil. Po mnoho dní jsme obcházeli pohoří Seír. 2 Tu mi Hospodin řekl:3 „Už dosti dlouho obcházíte toto pohoří. Obraťte se na sever.4 Lidu přikaž: Procházíte územím svých bratří Ezauovců, sídlících v Seíru. Budou se vás bát, ale mějte se napozoru.5 Nedrážděte je, neboť z jejich země vám nedám ani šlépěj půdy. Pohoří Seír jsem dal do vlastnictví Ezauovi.6 Za stříbro si od nich budete kupovat pokrm, abyste měli co jíst, za stříbro si od nich budete opatřovat vodu, abyste měli co pít.7 Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, ti při veškeré práci tvých rukou žehnal; znal tvé putování touto velikou pouští. Už po čtyřicet let je Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, s tebou; v ničem jsi nestrádal.“8 Přešli jsme tedy mimo území svých bratří Ezauovců, sídlících v Seíru, stranou cesty vedoucí pustinou od Élatu a Esjón-geberu. Tam jsme se obrátili a pokračovali směrem na Moábskou step.9 Tu mi Hospodin řekl: „Nedotírej na Moába a nedráždi ho k válce, neboť z jeho země ti nedám do vlastnictví nic. Ar jsem dal do vlastnictví synům Lotovým.“ (10 Předtím v něm sídlili Emejci, veliký a početný lid, vysoký jako Anákovci;11 ti byli stejně jako Anákovci pokládáni za Refájce, Moábci je však nazývali Emejci.12 V Seíru zase předtím sídlili Chorejci, ale Ezauovci si je podrobili; vyhladili je před sebou a usadili se na jejich místě, jako učinil Izrael se svou vlastní zemí, kterou jim dal Hospodin.)13 „Nuže vzhůru, přejděte potok Zered.“ I přešli jsme potok Zered.14 Doba, po kterou jsme putovali z Kádeš-barneje, až jsme překročili potok Zered, činila třicet osm let, dokud z tábora nevyhynulo do jednoho celé pokolení bojovníků, jak jim přísahal Hospodin.15 To právě Hospodinova ruka byla proti nim a uváděla je ve zmatek, dokud z tábora nevyhynuli do jednoho. 16 Když pak všichni bojovníci z lidu do jednoho vymřeli,17 Hospodin ke mně promluvil:18 „Dnes procházíš moábským územím, městem Arem,19 a přibližuješ se k Amónovcům. Nedotírej na ně a nedráždi je, neboť ze země Amónovců ti nedám do vlastnictví nic. Dal jsem ji do vlastnictví synům Lotovým.“ (20 Také ona byla pokládána za zemi Refájců; předtím v ní sídlili Refájci, Amónovci je však nazývali Zamzumci.21 Byl to veliký a početný lid, vysoký jako Anákovci. Hospodin je před nimi vyhladil, takže si je podrobili a usadili se na jejich místě,22 jak to učinil pro Ezauovce sídlící v Seíru. Začni ji obsazovat a vydráždi je tak k válce.25 Dnešním dnem začínám nahánět strach a bázeň z tebe národům pod celým nebem. Až o tobě uslyší zprávu, budou se před tebou třást a chvět úzkostí.“26 Tehdy jsem poslal posly z pouště Kedemótu k chešbónskému králi Síchonovi s pokojným vzkazem:27 „Rád bych prošel tvou zemí. Půjdu jenom po cestě, neodbočím napravo ani nalevo.28 Za stříbro mi prodáš pokrm, abych měl co jíst, a za stříbro mi dáš vodu, abych měl co pít. Chci pouze pěšky projít,29 jak mi to dovolili Ezauovci sídlící v Seíru a Moábci sídlící v Aru, jen co přejdu přes Jordán do země, kterou nám dává Hospodin, náš Bůh.“30 Ale chešbónský král Síchon nesvolil, abychom jí prošli, neboť Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, zatvrdil jeho ducha a dal mu srdce zpupné, aby ti ho vydal do rukou, jak se dnešního dne stalo.
— Boje v Zajordání - Mojžíš připomíná vítězství nad chešbónským králem Síchonem a nad bášanským králem Ógem a přidělení zajordánské oblasti půl třetímu pokolení.
31 Tu mi Hospodin řekl: „Hleď, už ti vydávám Síchona a jeho zemi. Začni jeho zemi obsazovat.“32 Síchon vytrhl proti nám do Jahsy k boji s veškerým svým lidem.33 A Hospodin, náš Bůh, nám ho vydal. Porazili jsme ho i jeho syny a všechen jeho lid.34 V oné době jsme dobyli všechna jeho města, vyhubili jsme každé jeho město jako klaté, muže, ženy i děti; nenechali jsme nikoho vyváznout.35 Jen dobytek a kořist z měst, která jsme dobyli, jsme si ponechali jako lup.36 Od Aróeru, který je na břehu potoka Arnónu, a od města, které je tam v úvalu, až do Gileádu nebyla pro nás žádná tvrz nedobytná; to vše nám vydal Hospodin, náš Bůh.37 Jen k zemi Amónovců ses nepřiblížil, k celému pásmu při potoku Jaboku, ani k městům v pohoří a vůbec nikam, kam nám Hospodin, náš Bůh, zakázal.

Zná tvé putování touto velikou pouští. Už čtyřicet let je Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, s tebou a nic ti nescházelo.“8A tak jsme obešli své bratry, syny Ezauovy, bydlící na Seíru. Vyhnuli jsme se cestě přes pláň Arava, jež vede od Eilatu a Ecjon-geberu, a vydali se cestou přes moábskou poušť.9Hospodin mi řekl: „Neútoč na Moábské a nebojuj s nimi. V jejich zemi ti nedám žádné vlastnictví, neboť Ar jsem určil do vlastnictví synům Lotovým.“10(Původně tam bydleli Emejci, silný a početný lid, vysoký jako Anakovci.11Stejně jako Anakovci se i oni počítali za Refajce, ale Moábští je nazývali Emejci.12Na Seíru zase původně bydleli Chorejci, ale synové Ezauovi je vyhnali, vyhladili je a usadili se na jejich místě, jako to učinil Izrael se svou vlastní zemí, kterou jim dal Hospodin.)13Přikázal: „Vzhůru, překročte potok Zered!“ a tak jsme překročili potok Zered.14Naše putování od Kádeš-barné po překročení potoku Zered trvalo třicet osm let. Celé to pokolení bojovníků mezitím v táboře až do posledního vymřelo, jak jim Hospodin přísahal.[1]15Ruka Hospodinova byla vskutku proti nim a až do posledního je vymýtila z tábora.16Všichni bojovníci z lidu až do posledního vymřeli.17Hospodin mi řekl:18„Dnes procházíš moábským územím u města Ar19a blížíš se k Amoncům. Neútoč na ně a nebojuj s nimi. V zemi Amonců ti nedám žádné vlastnictví, neboť jsem ji určil do vlastnictví synům Lotovým.“20(I toto území bývá počítáno k zemi Refajců. Původně tam bydleli Refajci – Amonci je ovšem nazývali Zamzumci –21mohutný a početný lid, vysoký jako Anakovci. Hospodin je však před nimi vyhladil, takže je vyhnali a usadili se na jejich místě.22Totéž učinil pro syny Ezauovy bydlící na Seíru, když před nimi vyhladil Chorejce, takže je vyhnali a usadili se na jejich místě, kde jsou až dodnes.23Avijce, bydlící v osadách v okolí Gazy, zase vyhladili Kaftorští. Ti přišli z Kréty a usadili se na jejich místě.)
Porážka krále Sichona
24„Vzhůru! Jděte dál a překročte potok Arnon! Pohleď, dal jsem do tvé ruky chešbonského krále, Emorejce Sichona, i jeho zem. Začni ji obsazovat, dej se s ním do boje!25Dnes začínám na národy pode vším nebem pouštět strach a hrůzu z tebe. Až o tobě uslyší, budou se před tebou třást a chvět se úzkostí.“26Tehdy jsem z pouště Kedemot vyslal k Sichonovi, králi Chešbonu, posly s nabídkou míru:27„Chtěl bych projít tvou zemí. Půjdu jen a jen po cestě, neuchýlím se od ní napravo ani nalevo.28Potravu k jídlu i vodu k pití od tebe koupím za peníze. Chtěl bych jen pěšky projít tak,29jak mi to dovolili synové Ezauovi bydlící na Seíru i Moábští v Aru. Potom přejdu Jordán do země, kterou nám dává Hospodin, náš Bůh.“30Chešbonský král Sichon nás však nenechal projít svým územím. Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, totiž posílil jeho hrdost a odhodlání, aby jej pak vydal do tvé ruky, jak je tomu dodnes.31Hospodin mi řekl: „Pohleď, už to začíná! Vydávám ti Sichona i jeho zem. Začni si ji podmaňovat a obsaď ji.“32Sichon se vším svým lidem proti nám vytáhl do boje v Jahce.33Hospodin, náš Bůh, nám ho však vydal, takže jsme ho porazili i s jeho syny a se vším jeho lidem.34Tenkrát jsme dobyli všechna jeho města. Každé z nich jsme vyhladili jako proklaté[2] včetně mužů, žen i dětí. Nikoho jsme nenechali naživu.35Z dobytých měst jsme si rozebrali dobytek a kořist.36Od Aroeru na břehu potoka Arnon a od města v údolí až po Gileád nebylo tvrze, která by před námi obstála. Hospodin, náš Bůh, nám je všechny dal.37Nepřiblížil ses ale k zemi Amonců, k okolí potoka Jabok, k městům v horách a vůbec k ničemu, co Hospodin, náš Bůh, zakázal.

Wenn sie Furcht vor euch zeigen, dann seid auf der Hut (Nu 20,14)5und beginnt keine Feindseligkeiten gegen sie! Von ihrem Land gebe ich euch keinen Fußbreit; denn das Gebirge Seïr habe ich für Esau zum Besitz bestimmt. (Gn 36,8)6Was ihr an Getreide zum Essen braucht, kauft von ihnen für Silber; selbst das Trinkwasser beschafft euch von ihnen gegen Silber!7Der HERR, dein Gott, hatte dich reich gesegnet bei der Arbeit deiner Hände. Er hatte erkannt, dass du in dieser großen Wüste unterwegs warst. Vierzig Jahre lang war der HERR, dein Gott, bei dir. Nichts hat dir gefehlt. (Dt 8,4; Dt 29,4; Neh 9,21)8Wir zogen also weg aus dem Gebiet in der Nähe der Söhne Esaus, unserer Stammverwandten, die in Seïr wohnen, weg vom Weg durch die Araba, von Elat und Ezjon-Geber. Wir wendeten uns und zogen den Weg zur Wüste Moab entlang.9Und der HERR sagte zu mir: Begegne Moab nicht feindlich, beginn keinen Kampf mit ihnen! Von ihrem Land bestimme ich dir kein Stück zum Besitz; denn Ar habe ich für die Nachkommen Lots zum Besitz bestimmt.10Einst saßen dort die Emiter, ein Volk, das groß, zahlreich und hochgewachsen war wie die Anakiter.11Wie die Anakiter galten auch sie als Rafaïter, die Moabiter aber nennen sie Emiter.12In Seïr saßen einst die Horiter, aber deren Besitz haben die Nachkommen Esaus übernommen. Als sie vordrangen, vernichteten sie die Horiter und setzten sich an deren Stelle, so wie die Israeliten es mit dem Land taten, das ihnen der HERR zum Besitz bestimmt hatte.13Und jetzt steht auf und überquert das Tal des Sered! Da überquerten wir das Tal des Sered.
Kriegszüge und Landverteilung im Ostjordanland
14Die Zeit, die wir von Kadesch-Barnea an gewandert waren, bis wir das Tal des Sered überquerten, betrug achtunddreißig Jahre. So lange dauerte es, bis die Generation der waffenfähigen Männer vollständig ausgestorben war, sodass sich keiner von ihnen mehr im Lager befand, wie es ihnen der HERR geschworen hatte. (Dt 1,34)15Auch hatte der HERR seine Hand gegen sie ausgestreckt und Verwirrung unter ihnen verbreitet, bis sie ausgestorben waren, sodass sich keiner von ihnen mehr im Lager befand. Begegne ihnen nicht feindlich, beginne keine Feindseligkeiten gegen sie! Vom Land der Ammoniter bestimme ich dir kein Stück zum Besitz; denn ich habe es für die Nachkommen Lots zum Besitz bestimmt. (Gn 19,37)20Auch dieses gilt als Land der Rafaïter. Einst saßen die Rafaïter darin. Die Ammoniter nennen sie die Samsummiter,21ein Volk, das groß, zahlreich und hochgewachsen war wie die Anakiter. Der HERR vernichtete die Rafaïter, als die Ammoniter eindrangen. Diese übernahmen ihren Besitz und setzten sich an ihre Stelle.22Das war das Gleiche, was der Herr für die Nachkommen Esaus getan hat, die in Seïr sitzen. Als sie vordrangen, vernichtete er die Horiter. Die Nachkommen Esaus übernahmen ihren Besitz und setzten sich an ihre Stelle. So blieb es bis heute.23Das Gleiche geschah mit den Awitern, die in einzelnen Dörfern bis nach Gaza hin saßen. Die Kaftoriter, die aus Kaftor ausgewandert waren, vernichteten sie und setzten sich an ihre Stelle. (Am 9,7)24Steht auf, brecht auf und überquert das Tal des Arnon! Siehe, hiermit gebe ich Sihon, den König von Heschbon, den Amoriter, mit seinem Land in eure Hand. Fang an, in Besitz zu nehmen! Bei ihm sollst du den Kampf beginnen.25Und ich fange heute an, den Völkern überall unter dem Himmel Schrecken und Furcht vor dir ins Gesicht zu zeichnen. Wenn sie von dir nur hören, zittern sie. Sie winden sich vor Angst, wenn sie dich sehen. (Ex 15,14; Dt 11,25; Dt 28,10)26Da sandte ich aus der Wüste Kedemot Boten zu Sihon, dem König von Heschbon, und ließ ihm folgendes Abkommen vorschlagen: (Nu 21,21)27Ich will durch dein Land ziehen. Ich werde mich genau an den Weg halten, ohne ihn rechts oder links zu verlassen.28Was ich an Getreide zum Essen brauche, wirst du mir für Silber verkaufen, auch das Trinkwasser wirst du mir gegen Silber geben. Ich werde nur zu Fuß durchziehen,29so wie die Nachkommen Esaus, die in Seïr wohnen, und die Moabiter, die in Ar wohnen, es mir erlaubt haben. Das soll gelten, bis ich über den Jordan in das Land gezogen bin, das der HERR, unser Gott, uns gibt.30Doch Sihon, der König von Heschbon, weigerte sich, uns bei sich durchziehen zu lassen. Denn der HERR, dein Gott, hatte seinen Kampfgeist gestärkt und ihm Mut gemacht, um ihn in deine Hand zu geben, wie es inzwischen geschehen ist.31Mir aber sagte der HERR: Siehe, hiermit fange ich an. Ich liefere dir Sihon und sein Land aus. Du fang an, in Besitz zu nehmen! Fang mit seinem Land an! (Dt 1,8)32Sihon rückte mit seinem ganzen Volk gegen uns aus, um bei Jahaz zu kämpfen.33Der HERR, unser Gott, lieferte ihn uns aus. Wir schlugen ihn, seine Söhne und sein ganzes Volk.34Damals eroberten wir alle seine Städte. Wir vollzogen an ihrer ganzen Bevölkerung den Bann, auch die Frauen samt Kindern und Alten; keinen ließen wir überleben. (Dt 20,16)35Als Beute behielten wir nur das Vieh und das, was wir in den eroberten Städten geplündert hatten.36Von Aroër am Rand des Arnontals und von der Stadt, die im Tal liegt, bis hin nach Gilead gab es keine befestigte Stadt, deren Mauern für uns zu hoch waren. Alle hat uns der HERR, unser Gott, ausgeliefert.37Nur dem Land der Ammoniter hast du dich nicht genähert, dem gesamten Randgebiet des Jabboktals und den Städten im Gebirge, also allem, was der HERR, unser Gott, uns verwehrt hatte. (Dt 2,19)

I will go only by the road; I will turn aside neither to the right nor to the left.
