— Zákon o útočištných městech - Šest měst má sloužit jako útočiště před mstitelem tomu, kdo neúmyslně zavinil něčí smrt.
1 Až vyhladí Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, pronárody, jejichž zemi ti Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, dává, a ty si je podrobíš a usadíš se v jejich městech a domech,2 oddělíš si tři města uprostřed své země, kterou ti Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, dává, abys ji obsadil.3 Upravíš si k nim cestu a rozdělíš na tři díly území své země, kterou ti přiděluje do dědictví Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, aby tam mohl utéci každý, kdo zabil.4 A tak tomu bude s tím, kdo zabil a uteče se tam, aby zůstal naživu: Kdo zabil svého bližního neúmyslně, aniž jej kdy předtím nenáviděl,5 třeba ten, kdo by šel se svým bližním do lesa rubat dříví a rozmáchl se sekerou při kácení stromu a železo by se vysmeklo z topůrka a zasáhlo jeho bližního tak, že by zemřel, ten ať se uteče do jednoho z těch měst, aby zůstal naživu.6 Jinak by hojako vraha pronásledoval v rozhořčení svého srdce krevní mstitel, a kdyby cesta byla příliš daleká, dostihl by ho a zabil by ho. On však není hoden smrti, protože zabitého neměl nikdy předtím v nenávisti.7 Proto ti přikazuji: „Oddělíš si tři města.“ 8 Jestliže Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, rozšíří tvé území, jak přísahal tvým otcům, a dá ti celou zemi, o níž řekl, že ji dá tvým otcům,9 dbej cele na tento příkaz, který ti dnes udílím, totiž abys miloval Hospodina, svého Boha, a chodil po jeho cestách po všechny dny, a přidej k těmto třem městům ještě další tři.10 Ve tvé zemi, kterou ti dává Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, do dědictví, nebude prolévána nevinná krev, abys nebyl vinen prolitou krví. 11 Kdyby však někdo svého bližního nenáviděl a strojil mu úklady, povstal proti němu a ubil ho k smrti a pak utekl do některého z těch měst,12 starší z jeho města pro něho pošlou, vezmou ho odtud a předají ho do rukou krevního mstitele, aby zemřel.13 Nebudeš ho litovat. Tak odstraníš nevinně prolitou krev z Izraele a bude s tebou dobře.
— Zákon pro svědky - Zákaz přenášet mezníky. Soudcové mohou rozhodovat teprve podle výpovědi dvou nebo tří svědků.
14 Neposuneš mezník svého bližního, kterým předkové vymezili tvůj dědičný díl, jejž zdědíš v zemi, kterou ti dává Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, abys ji obsadil. 15 Nepovstane jen jediný svědek proti někomu v jakémkoli zločinu, v jakémkoli prohřešku a při jakémkoli hříchu, jehož se někdo dopustil. Soudní výrok bude vynesen podle výpovědi dvou nebo tří svědků.16 Povstane-li proti někomu zlovolný svědek, aby ho nařkl z odpadnutí od Hospodina,17 postaví se oba muži, kteří mají spor, před Hospodina, před kněze a soudce, kteří tam v těch dnech budou,18 a soudcové případ dobře vyšetří. Zjistí-li, že je to křivý svědek, že nařkl svého bratra křivě,19 učiníte jemu, jak on zamýšlel učinit svému bratru. Tak odstraníš zlo ze svého středu.20 Ať to ostatní uslyší a ať se bojí. Nikdy ať se mezi vámi nestane něco tak zlého.21 Nebudeš ho litovat. Život za život, oko za oko, zub za zub, ruka za ruku, noha za nohu.

On však nebyl hoden smrti, neboť zabitého nikdy předtím neměl v nenávisti.7A proto ti přikazuji: Odděl si tři města.8Až Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, podle přísahy dané tvým otcům rozšíří tvé území a dá ti celou zem, kterou zaslíbil tvým otcům9(budeš-li ovšem pečlivě dodržovat všechna přikázání, která vám dnes udílím, totiž abys miloval Hospodina, svého Boha, a kráčel po jeho cestách po všechny dny), potom k těmto třem městům přidáš ještě další tři.10To proto, aby se v zemi, kterou ti Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, dává za dědictví, neprolévala nevinná krev. Ta krev by padla na tebe!11Pokud by však někdo úkladně napadl svého bližního z nenávisti a poté, co jej smrtelně zranil, by utekl do jednoho z těchto měst,12v takovém případě pro něj stařešinové jeho města pošlou, vezmou ho odtud a vydají jej do rukou krevního mstitele, aby zemřel.13Neslituješ se nad ním. Odstraň z Izraele nevinně prolitou krev, a povede se ti dobře.14Neposunuj mezník svého bližního, kterým tví předkové vymezili tvé dědictví v zemi, kterou ti Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, dává do vlastnictví.
Zákon o svědcích
15Proti nikomu nepostačí jediný svědek, ať už se dotyčný jakkoli provinil či spáchal jakýkoli hřích, jenž se dá spáchat. Výrok musí být potvrzen výpovědí dvou nebo tří svědků.16Povstane-li proti někomu zlomyslný svědek, aby jej nařkl z odpadlictví,17obě strany sporu se musí postavit před Hospodina – před kněze a soudce, kteří tam v těch dnech budou.18Soudci ať věc důkladně prošetří. Ukáže-li se, že to byl křivý svědek, křivě svědčící proti svému bratru,19uděláte mu totéž, co chtěl, aby se stalo jeho bratru. Odstraň ze svého středu zlo!20Až o tom uslyší ostatní, přijde na ně bázeň a tato špatnost se ve tvém středu už nikdy nestane.21Neslituješ se nad ním – život za život, oko za oko, zub za zub, ruka za ruku, noha za nohu.[2]

Mindestzahl der Zeugen
15Wenn es um ein Verbrechen oder ein Vergehen geht, darf ein einzelner Belastungszeuge nicht Recht bekommen, welches Vergehen auch immer der Angeklagte begangen hat. Erst auf die Aussage von zwei oder drei Zeugen darf eine Sache Recht bekommen. (Nu 35,30; Dt 17,6; Mt 18,16; J 8,17; 2K 13,1; 1Tm 5,19; Žd 10,28)
