1 Řekl ještě Achitofel Absolonovi: Nechť medle vyberu dvanácte tisíc mužů, abych vstana, honil Davida noci této. 2 A dostihna ho, dokudž jest ustalý a zemdlené má ruce, předěsím jej, a uteče všecken lid, kterýž jest s ním, i zamorduji krále samého. 3 A tak obrátím všecken lid k tobě; nebo jako bych je všecky obrátil, když zhyne ten muž, kteréhož ty hledáš. O lid ty se nic nestarej. 4 I líbila se ta řeč Absolonovi i všechněm starším Izraelským. 5 A však řekl Absolon: Zavolej sem hned Chusai Architského, abychom slyšeli, co i on mluviti bude. 6 Když pak přišel Chusai k Absolonovi, mluvil k němu Absolon, řka: Takto mluvil Achitofel. Máme-li učiniti vedlé řeči jeho, čili nic? Pověz ty. 7 Tedy řekl Chusai Absolonovi: Neníť dobrá rada, kterouž dal Achitofel nyní. 8 Dále mluvil Chusai: Ty víš o otci svém i mužích jeho, že jsou udatní, k tomu zjitření na mysli, jako nedvědice osiřelá v poli. Nadto otec tvůj jest muž válečný, kterýž nebude nocovati s lidem. 9 Nýbrž nyní spíše v záloze stojí v nějaké jeskyni, aneb v některém jiném místě. I stalo by se, jestliže by kteří padli z těch tvých při začátku, že každý, kdož by o tom uslyšel, řekl by: Stala se porážka v lidu, kterýž postoupil po Absolonovi. 10 A tak by i silných reků srdce, kteréž jest jako srdce lva, škodlivě osláblo; nebo ví všecken Izrael, že jest zmužilý otec tvůj, a silní ti, kteříž jsou s ním. 11 Ale radím, abys, shromáždě k sobě všecken Izrael od Dan až do Bersabé, kterýž v množství jest jako písek při moři, ty sám životně vytáhl k boji. 12 A tak potáhneme proti němu, na kterém by koli místě nalezen býti mohl, a připadneme na něj, jako padá rosa na zemi; i nepozůstaneť z něho, totiž ze všech mužů, kteříž jsou při něm, ani jednoho. 13 Jestliže by se pak shrnul do města, snesou všecken lid Izraelský k tomu městu provazy, a vtrhneme je až do potoka, tak aby tam ani kaménka nebylo lze najíti. 14 I řekl Absolon a všickni muži Izraelští: Lepšíť jest rada Chusai Architského, než rada Achitofelova. Hospodin zajisté to způsobil, aby zrušena byla rada Achitofelova, kteráž sic dobrá byla, aby tak uvedl Hospodin na Absolona zlé věci. 15 Oznámil pak to Chusai Sádochovi a Abiatarovi kněžím: Tak a tak radil Achitofel Absolonovi a starším Izraelským, ale já takto a takto jsem radil. 16 Nyní tedy pošlete rychle a oznamte Davidovi, řkouce: Nezůstavej přes noc na rovinách pouště, ale přeprav se bez meškání, aby snad nebyl sehlcen král i všecken lid, kterýž jest s ním. 17 Jonata pak a Achimaas stáli u studnice Rogel. I šla tam děvečka a pověděla jim, aby oni jdouce, oznámili to králi Davidovi; nebo nesměli se ukázati aneb vjíti do města. 18 A však uzřel je služebník, a oznámil Absolonovi. Pročež odšedše oba rychle, vešli do domu muže v Bahurim, kterýž měl studnici na dvoře svém. I spustili se do ní. 19 A žena vzavši plachtu, rozestřela ji na vrch studnice, a nasypala na ni krup. A tak nebyla ta věc spatřína. 20 Nebo když přišli služebníci Absolonovi k ženě do domu a řekli: Kde jest Achimaas a Jonata? odpověděla jim žena: Přešliť jsou ten potok. Hledavše tedy a nic nenalezše, navrátili se do Jeruzaléma. 21 A když oni odešli, tito vystoupivše z studnice, šli a oznámili králi Davidovi a řekli jemu: Vstaňte a přepravte se rychle přes vodu, nebo toto radil proti vám Achitofel. 22 Protož vstav David a všecken lid, kterýž byl s ním, přepravili se přes Jordán, prvé než se rozednilo; a nezůstal ani jeden, ješto by se nepřepravil přes Jordán. 23 Tedy Achitofel vida, že se nestalo vedlé rady jeho, osedlal osla, a vstav, odjel do domu svého, do města svého. A učiniv pořízení v čeledi své, oběsil se a umřel; i pochován jest v hrobě otce svého. 24 David pak byl již přišel do Mahanaim, když se Absolon přepravil přes Jordán, on i všecken lid Izraelský s ním. 25 A tu ustanovil Absolon Amazu místo Joába nad vojskem. (Byl pak Amaza syn muže, jehož jméno bylo Jetra Izraelský, kterýž všel k Abigail dceři Náchas, sestře Sarvie matky Joábovy.) 26 I položil se Izrael a Absolon v zemi Galád. 27 Stalo se pak, když přišel David do Mahanaim, že Sobi syn Náchas z Rabbat synů Ammon, a Machir syn Amielův z Lodebar, a Barzillai Galádský z Rogelim, 28 Lůže, číše a nádoby hliněné, též pšenice, ječmene, mouky, krup, bobu, šocovice a pražmy, 29 Ano i medu, másla a ovcí i syrů kravských přinesli Davidovi a lidu, kterýž s ním byl, aby jedli. Nebo řekli: Lid ten jest hladovitý a ustalý, i žíznivý na té poušti.

1 Achítofel pravil Abšalómovi: „Dovol, abych vybral dvanáct tisíc mužů a hned této noci se vydal pronásledovat Davida. 2 Dostihnu ho, až bude zemdlený a skleslý, a překvapím ho. Všechen lid, který je s ním, uteče a já osamoceného krále zabiji. 3 Všechen lid obrátím k tobě; vrátí se všichni, až na muže, kterého hledáš. Všechen lid bude mít pokoj.“ 4 Abšalómovi i všem izraelským starším se to líbilo. 5 Abšalóm však poručil: „Ať je povolán také Chúšaj Arkijský. Poslechneme si i jeho výrok.“ 6 Když Chúšaj přišel k Abšalómovi, Abšalóm mu pravil: „Toto navrhuje Achítofel. Máme jednat podle jeho slova? Ne-li, vyslov se.“ 7 Chúšaj Abšalómovi odvětil: „Rada, kterou dal Achítofel, není v tomto případě dobrá.“ 8 A Chúšaj pokračoval: „Ty znáš svého otce i jeho muže, že to jsou bohatýři a že jsou rozhořčeni jak osiřelá medvědice v poli. Tvůj otec je bojovník, ten nebude nocovat s lidem. 9 Jistě je už ukryt v nějaké strži nebo na jiném místě. Když někteří z tvých hned na začátku padnou, někdo to uslyší a roznese se: ‚Lid, který jde za Abšalómem, byl poražen!‘ 10 Nakonec ztratí odvahu i ten nejstatečnější muž lvího srdce. Celý Izrael přece ví, že tvůj otec je bohatýr a že ti, kteří jsou s ním, jsou muži stateční. 11 Proto ti radím: Nechť se k tobě shromáždí celý Izrael od Danu až k Beer-šebě. Bude jich jak mořského písku. A ty táhni do bitvy osobně. 12 Přitrhneme na jedno z těch míst, kde se on zdržuje, a padneme na něho jako rosa na roli. Nezbude z něho a ze všech mužů, kteří jsou s ním, ani jeden. 13 Stáhne-li se do města, snesou všichni Izraelci k tomu městu provazy. Budeme vláčet jeho znamení až do úvalu, že se z něho nenajde ani oblázek.“ 14 Abšalóm a všichni izraelští muži prohlásili: „Rada Chúšaje Arkijského je lepší než rada Achítofelova.“ To Hospodin přikázal překazit dobrou radu Achítofelovu, aby na Abšalóma uvedl zkázu. 15 I řekl Chúšaj kněžím Sádokovi a Ebjátarovi: „Tak a tak radil Achítofel Abšalómovi a izraelským starším, já však jsem poradil tak a tak. 16 Nyní tedy rychle pošlete Davidovi zprávu: ‚Nezůstávej přes noc ve stepních pustinách. Musíš přejít Jordán. Jinak ti, králi, hrozí záhuba, i všemu lidu, který je s tebou.‘“ 17 Jónatan a Achímaas stáli u pramene Rogelu. Služebná šla a oznámila jim to. Oni to šli oznámit králi Davidovi; sami se totiž ve městě ukázat nemohli. 18 Přesto je však uviděl mládenec a oznámil to Abšalómovi. Ti dva se rychle vydali na cestu, až přišli do domu nějakého muže v Bachurímu. Ten měl na dvoře studnu a oni se tam do ní spustili. 19 Žena pak vzala přikrývku a rozprostřela ji navrch té studny a na ni rozestřela obilnou drť, takže nebylo nic znát. 20 Abšalómovi služebníci přišli k té ženě do domu a ptali se: „Kde jsou Achímaas a Jónatan?“ Žena jim odvětila: „Přešli tudy přes strouhu.“ Hledali je tedy, ale nenašli a vrátili se do Jeruzaléma. 21 Sotva odešli, ti dva ze studně vystoupili a šli podat zprávu králi Davidovi. Řekli Davidovi: „Vydejte se na cestu a rychle přejděte vodu, neboť Achítofel dal o vás takovouto radu.“ 22 David vstal se vším lidem, který byl s ním, a do ranního úsvitu přešli Jordán. Když Jordán přešli, nechyběl ani jeden. 23 Když Achítofel viděl, že jeho rada provedena nebyla, osedlal osla a vydal se na cestu do svého domu ve svém městě. Udělal pořízení o svém domě a oběsil se. Umřel a byl pohřben v hrobě svého otce. 24 David přišel do Machanajimu a Abšalóm přešel Jordán se všemi izraelskými muži. 25 Místo Jóaba ustanovil Abšalóm nad vojskem Amasu. Amasa byl synem muže jménem Jitra Izraelský, který vešel k Abígale, dceři Náchašově, sestře Serúji, matky Jóabovy. 26 Izrael a Abšalóm se utábořili v zemi Gileádu. 27 Když David přišel do Machanajimu, Šóbi, syn Náchašův z Raby Amónovců, a Makír, syn Amíelův z Lódebaru, a Barzilaj Gileádský z Rogelímu 28 přinesli lůžko, misky a hliněné nádobí i pšenici, ječmen a mouku, pražené zrní, boby, čočku a pražmu, 29 i med a máslo, ovce a kravský sýr Davidovi a lidu, který byl s ním, aby pojedli. Řekli si totiž: „Lid je v té poušti hladový, unavený a žíznivý.“

Všichni jeho muži se rozutečou, takže zabiji samotného krále. 3 Tak přivedu všechen lid k tobě, jako se přivádí nevěsta k ženichovi. Jde ti přece o život jediného muže^[1] – všechen lid může zůstat v pokoji.“ 4 Abšalomovi i všem izraelským stařešinům se ten návrh líbil. 5 Abšalom ale přikázal: „Raději ještě zavolej Chušaje Arkijského, ať si vyslechneme také jeho názor.“ 6 Chušaj tedy přišel k Abšalomovi a ten mu řekl: „Toto navrhuje Achitofel. Máme se řídit jeho výrokem? Pokud ne, promluv ty.“ 7 Chušaj Abšalomovi odpověděl: „Achitofelova rada tentokrát není dobrá. 8 Znáš přece svého otce i jeho muže, jak jsou udatní,“ pokračoval Chušaj. „Jsou rozzuření jako medvědice, která v divočině přišla o mladé. A tvůj otec je zkušený válečník; ten nebude nocovat s vojskem. 9 Určitě se už schoval v nějaké jeskyni nebo někde jinde. Kdyby hned napoprvé někteří z našich padli, kdekdo se to doslechne a řekne: ‚Abšalomovo vojsko je poraženo!‘ 10 Každý bojovník, i kdyby měl srdce jako lev, pak ztratí odvahu. Celý Izrael přece ví, jaký je tvůj otec hrdina a jak jsou jeho muži udatní. 11 Proto radím, ať se k tobě shromáždí celý Izrael od Danu až po Beer-šebu; je jich jako písku v moři a ty osobně je povedeš do boje. 12 Přitáhneme na něj, ať se schovává kdekoli. Sneseme se na něj jako rosa na zem, a nepřežije on ani žádný z jeho mužů. 13 Jestli se stáhne někam do města, celý Izrael k tomu městu nanosí provazy a strhneme je do údolí, takže z něj nezůstane ani kamínek!“ 14 Nato Abšalom se všemi izraelskými muži prohlásil: „Rada Chušaje Arkijského je lepší než rada Achitofelova.“ (Hospodin se totiž rozhodl zmařit Achitofelovu dobrou radu, aby na Abšaloma přivedl neštěstí.) 15 Chušaj pak oznámil kněžím Sádokovi a Abiatarovi: „Achitofel radil Abšalomovi a izraelským stařešinům tak a tak, kdežto já jsem radil tak a tak. 16 Teď rychle pošlete Davidovi zprávu: ‚Nenocuj v poušti před brodem. Ihned překroč Jordán – jinak je s králem i všemi jeho muži konec!‘“ 17 Jonatan a Achimaac zůstávali u pramene En-rogel. Chodívala tam služebná a říkala jim, co mají oznámit králi Davidovi. Nesměli se totiž prozradit chozením do města. 18 Nějaký mládenec je zahlédl a ohlásil to Abšalomovi. Ti dva ale zatím utekli. Dorazili do domu jednoho muže v Bachurim, který měl na dvoře studnu, a spustili se do ní. 19 Jeho žena zakryla otvor studny plachtou a navrch nasypala zrní, takže nebylo nic poznat. 20 Abšalomovi služebníci přišli za ženou do domu a ptali se: „Kde je Achimaac a Jonatan?“ „Už za potokem,“ odpověděla jim. Hledali je tedy, ale nenašli, a tak se vrátili do Jeruzaléma. 21 Když byli pryč, vylezli ti dva ze studny a šli uvědomit krále Davida: „Rychle, musíš se přebrodit. Achitofel proti vám radil tak a tak.“ 22 David se tedy zvedl a se všemi svými lidmi překročil Jordán. Než se rozednilo, nezůstal jediný, kdo by Jordán nepřekročil. 23 Achitofel viděl, že se nestalo podle jeho rady, a tak osedlal osla a vydal se domů do svého města. Pořídil závěť o svém domě a oběsil se. Zemřel a byl pochován v hrobě svého otce.

Abšalomův konec

24 David už vstupoval do Machanajim, když Abšalom se všemi izraelskými muži překročil Jordán. 25 Abšalom jmenoval namísto Joába vrchním velitelem Amasu. (To byl syn muže jménem Jeter Izmaelský,^[2] který si vzal Abigail, dceru Nachašovu, sestru Joábovy matky Ceruji.) 26 Izrael s Abšalomem v čele se tedy utábořil v gileádském kraji. 27 Když David dorazil do Machanajim, Šobi, syn Nachaše z Raby Amonců, spolu s Machirem, synem Amiela z Lo-debaru, a s Barzilajem Gileádským z Rogelim 28 mu tam přinesli lůžka a přikrývky, misky a džbány s pšenicí, ječmenem a moukou, s praženým zrním, fazolemi a čočkou,^[3] 29 s medem, ovčím tvarohem a kravským sýrem. To vše přinesli pro Davida a jeho muže k jídlu. Řekli si totiž: Jistě jsou na poušti hladoví, utrmácení a žízniví.

Die beiden aber gingen schnell weiter und kamen zum Haus eines Mannes in Bahurim, der in seinem Hof einen Brunnen hatte. Sie stiegen hinein (1S 22,9; 2S 16,5) 19 und die Frau nahm eine Decke, breitete sie über die Öffnung des Brunnens und streute Körner darauf, sodass man nichts merken konnte. 20 Als Abschaloms Knechte zu der Frau ins Haus kamen, fragten sie: Wo sind Ahimaaz und Jonatan? Die Frau antwortete ihnen: Sie sind von hier zum Wasser weitergegangen. Die Knechte machten sich auf die Suche, als sie sie aber nicht fanden, kehrten sie nach Jerusalem zurück.^[2] (Jz 2,3) 21 Nachdem sie weggegangen waren, stiegen die beiden aus dem Brunnen heraus, gingen zu König David und brachten ihm die Nachricht. Sie sagten zu David: Brecht auf und geht schnell über den Fluss hinüber; denn Ahitofel hat gegen euch den und den Rat erteilt. 22 Da brach David mit allen Leuten, die noch bei ihm waren, auf und zog über den Jordan. Als es Morgen wurde, war auch nicht mehr einer da, der den Jordan nicht überschritten hätte. (2S 17,1) 23 Als Ahitofel sah, dass sein Rat nicht ausgeführt wurde, sattelte er seinen Esel, brach auf und kehrte in seine Heimatstadt zurück. Dann bestellte er sein Haus und erhängte sich. So starb er und man begrub ihn im Grab seines Vaters.^[3] (2Kr 20,1; Mt 27,5)

Davids Vorbereitungen in Mahanajim

24 Als David nach Mahanajim gekommen war, überschritt Abschalom mit allen Israeliten den Jordan. (2S 2,8) 25 Abschalom hatte Amasa anstelle Joabs an die Spitze des Heeres gestellt. Amasa war der Sohn eines Israeliten namens Jeter und der Abigal, die eine Tochter des Nahasch und eine Schwester von Joabs Mutter Zeruja war. 1 Moreover, Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Let me choose twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue David tonight. 2 I will come upon him while he is weary and discouraged and throw him into a panic, and all the people who are with him will flee. I will strike down only the king, (Dt 25,18; 2S 16,14; 1Kr 22,31) 3 and I will bring all the people back to you as a bride comes home to her husband. You seek the life of only one man,^[1] and all the people will be at peace.” 4 And the advice seemed right in the eyes of Absalom and all the elders of Israel. 5 Then Absalom said, “Call Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear what he has to say.” (2S 16,16) 6 And when Hushai came to Absalom, Absalom said to him, “Thus has Ahithophel spoken; shall we do as he says? If not, you speak.” 7 Then Hushai said to Absalom, “This time the counsel that Ahithophel has given is not good.” 8 Hushai said, “You know that your father and his men are mighty men, and that they are enraged,^[2] like a bear robbed of her cubs in the field.
