1 Srozuměv pak Joáb syn Sarvie, že by naklonilo se srdce královo k Absolonovi, 2 Poslav do Tekoa, a povolav odtud ženy moudré, řekl jí: Medle, udělej se, jako bys zámutek měla, a oblec se, prosím, v roucho smutku, a nepomazuj se olejem, ale buď jako žena již za mnoho dní zámutek mající nad mrtvým. 3 I půjdeš k králi a mluviti mu budeš vedlé řeči této. A naučil ji Joáb, co by měla mluviti. 4 Protož mluvila žena ta Tekoitská králi, padši na tvář svou k zemi, a poklonu učinivši, řekla: Spomoz, ó králi. 5 I řekl jí král: Což jest tobě? Odpověděla ona: Zajisté žena vdova jsem, a umřel mi muž můj. 6 Měla pak služebnice tvá dva syny, kteříž svadili se spolu na poli, a když nebyl, kdo by je rozvadil, udeřil jeden druhého a zabil ho. 7 Aj, teď povstala všecka rodina proti služebnici tvé, a řekli: Vydej toho, jenž zabil bratra svého, ať ho zabijeme za život bratra jeho, kteréhož zamordoval, nýbrž zahubíme i dědice. A tak uhasí jiskru mou, kteráž pozůstala, aby nezanechali muži mému jména a ostatku na zemi. 8 Tedy řekl král ženě: Navrať se do domu svého, a jáť poručím o tobě. 9 I odpověděla žena Tekoitská králi: Nechť jest, pane můj králi, na mne ta nepravost, a na dům otce mého, král pak a stolice jeho ať jest bez viny. 10 Řekl také král: Bude-li kdo mluviti co proti tobě, přiveď ho ke mně, a nedotkneť se tebe více. 11 Tedy ona řekla: Rozpoměň se, prosím, králi, na Hospodina Boha svého, aby se nerozmnožili mstitelé krve k zhoubě a nezahladili syna mého. I odpověděl: Živť jest Hospodin, žeť nespadne vlas syna tvého na zemi. 12 K tomu řekla žena: Nechť promluví, prosím, služebnice tvá pánu svému králi slovo. Kterýžto odpověděl: Mluv. 13 I řekla žena: Proč jsi tedy myslil podobnou věc proti lidu Božímu? Nebo mluví král řeč tuto jako ten, kterýž sebe vinného činí, poněvadž nechce zase povolati vyhnaného svého. 14 Všickniť jsme zajisté nepochybně smrtelní a jako vody, kteréž rozlity jsouce po zemi, zase sebrány býti nemohou, aniž se Bůh na něčí osobu ohlédá; ovšemť i myšlení svá vynesl, aby vyhnaného nevyháněl od sebe. 15 Nyní pak, že jsem přišla ku pánu svému králi mluviti řeči tyto, příčina jest, že mne strašil lid. Protož řekla služebnice tvá: Budu nyní mluviti králi, snad naplní král žádost služebnice své. 16 Neboť vyslyší král a vysvobodí služebnici svou z ruky muže, chtějícího vyhladiti mne i syna mého spolu z dědictví Božího. 17 Řekla také služebnice tvá: Vždyť mi bude slovo pána mého krále k odtušení; (nebo jako anděl Boží, tak jest pán můj král, když slyší dobré aneb zlé), a Hospodin Bůh tvůj bude s tebou. 18 A odpovídaje král, řekl ženě: Medle, netaj přede mnou toho, nač se já tebe vzeptám. I řekla žena: Mluv, prosím, pane můj králi. 19 Tedy řekl král: Není-liž Joáb jednatel všeho tohoto? I odpověděla žena a řekla: Jako jest živa duše tvá, pane můj králi, žeť se nelze uchýliti na pravo aneb na levo ode všeho toho, což mluvil pán můj král; nebo služebník tvůj Joáb, onť jest mi rozkázal, a on naučil služebnici tvou všechněm slovům těmto, 20 A abych tak příkladně vedla řeč tuto, způsobil to služebník tvůj Joáb. Ale pán můj moudrý jest jako anděl Boží, věda, což se koli děje na zemi. 21 A protož řekl král Joábovi: Aj, již jsem to učinil. Jdiž tedy, přiveď mládence Absolona. 22 I padl Joáb na tvář svou k zemi, a pokloniv se, poděkoval králi, a řekl Joáb: Dnes jest poznal služebník tvůj, že jsem nalezl milost před očima tvýma, pane můj králi, poněvadž jest král naplnil žádost služebníka svého. 23 Tedy vstav Joáb, odšel do Gessur, a přivedl Absolona do Jeruzaléma. 24 I řekl král: Nechť se navrátí do domu svého, ale tváři mé ať nevidí. A tak navrátil se Absolon do domu svého, ale tváři královské neviděl. 25 Nebylo pak žádného muže tak krásného jako Absolon ve všem Izraeli, aby takovou chválu měl. Od paty nohy jeho až do vrchu hlavy jeho nebylo na něm poškvrny. 26 A když střihával vlasy hlavy své, (měl pak obyčej každého roku je střihati, protože jej obtěžovaly, i střihával je), tedy vážíval vlasy hlavy své, a bývalo jich dvě stě lotů váhy obecné. 27 Zrodili se pak Absolonovi tři synové a jedna dcera, jejíž jméno bylo Támar, kteráž byla žena vzezření krásného. 28 I byl Absolon v Jeruzalémě dvě létě, a tváři královské neviděl. 29 A protož poslal Absolon k Joábovi, chtěje ho poslati k králi. Kterýžto nechtěl přijíti k němu. I poslal ještě podruhé, a nechtěl přijíti. 30 Tedy řekl služebníkům svým: Shlédněte dědinu Joábovu vedlé pole mého, kdežto má ječmen; jděte a spalte jej. I zapálili služebníci Absolonovi dědinu tu. 31 A vstav Joáb, přišel k Absolonovi do domu jeho, a řekl jemu: Proč jsou služebníci tvoji zapálili dědinu mou? 32 Odpověděl Absolon Joábovi: Aj, poslal jsem k tobě, řka: Přiď sem, a pošli tě k králi, abys řekl jemu: I proč jsem přišel z Gessur? Lépe mi bylo ještě tam zůstati. Protož nyní nechať uzřím tvář královu. Pakliť jest na mně nepravost, nechť mne rozkáže zabiti. 33 Tedy přišel Joáb k králi a oznámil to jemu. I povolal Absolona. Kterýž přišed k králi, poklonil se na tvář svou až k zemi před ním. I políbil král Absolona.

Padla tváří k zemi, klaněla se a zvolala: „Pomoz, králi!“ 5 Král se jí zeptal: „Co je ti?“ Ona odvětila: „Ach, jsem ovdovělá žena, muž mi zemřel. 6 Tvá otrokyně měla dva syny. Ti se spolu na poli pohádali a nebylo nikoho, kdo by je od sebe odtrhl. Jeden udeřil druhého a usmrtil ho. 7 A teď celé příbuzenstvo povstalo proti tvé otrokyni a žádají: Vydej nám bratrovraha, ať ho usmrtíme za život jeho bratra, kterého zavraždil. Ať vyhladíme i dědice. Tak chtějí uhasit i tu jiskřičku, která mi zbývá, aby po mém muži nezůstalo na zemi ani jméno ani potomstvo.“ 8 Král ženě řekl: „Jdi do svého domu a já o tobě rozhodnu.“ 9 Ale tekójská žena králi odvětila: „Králi, můj pane, nechť je ta vina na mně a na domu mého otce, avšak král a jeho trůn ať je bez viny.“ 10 Král prohlásil: „Kdo by proti tobě mluvil, toho přiveď ke mně a víckrát se tě nedotkne.“ 11 Ona řekla: „Nechť prosím král pamatuje na Hospodina, svého Boha, aby krevní mstitel neusiloval dál o zkázu a aby mého syna nezahladili.“ On prohlásil: „Jakože živ je Hospodin, ani vlas tvého syna nepadne na zem!“ 12 Žena odvětila: „Nechť smí tvá otrokyně králi, svému pánu, povědět ještě něco.“ Řekl: „Mluv.“ 13 Žena pravila: „Proč ty smýšlíš právě tak proti Božímu lidu? Když král vyslovil toto slovo, jako by obvinil sebe, že neumožnil návrat tomu, kterého zahnal. 14 Vždyť jsme smrtelní, jsme jako po zemi rozlitá voda, která se nedá sebrat. Bůh však nechce život odejmout a velmi se rozmýšlí, aby zapuzeného od sebe zapudil nadobro. 15 Nyní jsem tedy přišla, abych králi, svému pánu, přednesla tuto řeč, protože jsem se bála lidu. Tvá otrokyně si řekla: Promluvím ke králi. Snad král prosbu své služebnice splní. 16 Král zajisté vyslyší a vyprostí svou služebnici ze spárů muže, který usiluje vyhladit mě i s mým synem z Božího dědictví. 17 Tvá otrokyně si řekla: Kéž slovo krále, mého pána, přinese uklidnění, vždyť král, můj pán, je jako Boží posel a rozlišuje dobro a zlo. Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, buď s tebou!“ 18 I odpověděl král ženě: „Nezatajuj přede mnou, nač se tě zeptám.“ Žena řekla: „Mluv prosím, králi, můj pane.“ 19 Král se zeptal: „Nemá v tom všem ruce Jóab?“ Žena odpověděla: „Jakože je živa tvá duše, králi, můj pane, nelze uhnout napravo ani nalevo od ničeho, co král, můj pán, vyřkne. Tvůj služebník Jóab to byl, kdo mi dal příkaz a kdo tvou otrokyni naučil všemu, co má mluvit. 20 Jen proto, aby se tato záležitost stočila žádoucím směrem, dopustil se tvůj služebník Jóab této věci. Můj pán je však moudrý, tak moudrý jako Boží posel, a pozná vše, co se na zemi děje.“ 21 I řekl král Jóabovi: „Hle, již jsem to zařídil. Jdi, přiveď mládence Abšalóma zpátky.“ 22 Tu padl Jóab tváří k zemi, klaněl se a dobrořečil králi. Řekl: „Dnes tvůj služebník poznal, že u tebe nalezl přízeň, králi, můj pane, když král prosbu svého služebníka splnil.“ 23 Jóab se hned odebral do Gešúru a přivedl Abšalóma do Jeruzaléma. 24 Ale král nařídil: „Ať se uchýlí do svého domu. Moji tvář nespatří.“ Abšalóm se tedy uchýlil do svého domu a královu tvář nespatřil. 25 V celém Izraeli nebyl nikdo pro svou krásu tak vyhlášený jako Abšalóm. Od hlavy k patě nebylo na něm poskvrny. 26 Když si dával ostříhat hlavu – dával se stříhat koncem každého roku, poněvadž ho vlasy tížily tak, že se stříhat musel –, váha vlasů z jeho hlavy byla dvě stě šekelů královské váhy. 27 Abšalómovi se narodili tři synové a jedna dcera jménem Támar. Byla to žena krásného vzhledu. 28 Abšalóm bydlel v Jeruzalémě dva roky, aniž spatřil královu tvář. 29 Pak poslal Abšalóm pro Jóaba, aby ho vyslal ke králi, ale on k němu přijít nechtěl. Poslal pro něho ještě podruhé, ale on zase nechtěl přijít. 30 Proto řekl svým služebníkům: „Hleďte, Jóab má díl pole vedle mého a má tam ječmen. Jděte a vypalte jej.“ Abšalómovi služebníci ten díl vypálili. 31 Hned nato se Jóab vypravil do domu k Abšalómovi a vyčítal mu: „Proč tvoji služebníci vypálili díl, který mi patří?“ 32 Abšalóm Jóabovi odpověděl: „Hle, poslal jsem ti vzkaz, abys přišel sem, že tě vyšlu ke králi s dotazem: Proč jsem přišel z Gešúru? Bylo by mi lépe, kdybych tam byl zůstal. Nyní chci spatřit královu tvář. Je-li na mně vina, ať mě vydá na smrt!“ 33 Jóab předstoupil před krále a oznámil mu to a král dal Abšalóma zavolat. Ten před krále předstoupil a klaněl se před králem tváří až k zemi. I políbil král Abšalóma.

Ti se ale na poli pohádali; nebyl tam nikdo, kdo by je od sebe odtrhl, a tak jeden druhého udeřil a zabil. 7 Teď se ale všichni příbuzní obrátili proti tvé služebnici. Říkají: ‚Vydej toho bratrovraha! Zabijeme ho za to, že zavraždil svého bratra.‘ Tak chtějí zahubit^[2] i dědice. Uhasí i tu jiskřičku, co mi zbývá! Po manželovi mi tu na zemi nezůstane ani jméno, ani potomstvo…“ 8 „Vrať se domů, já o tvé věci rozhodnu,“ přerušil ji král. 9 Tekojská žena ale králi řekla: „Všechna vina, pane králi, ať padne na mě a na můj dům. Král a jeho trůn ať jsou bez viny.“^[3] 10 Na to jí král odpověděl: „Kdyby někdo tobě nebo tvému domu vyhrožoval, přiveď ho ke mně. Pak už si na tebe nikdy nedovolí!“ 11 Tehdy řekla: „Kéž prosím král prohlásí při Hospodinu, svém Bohu, že zabrání krevnímu mstiteli rozmnožit neštěstí zabitím mého syna.“ Na to prohlásil: „Jakože je živ Hospodin, tvému synovi nespadne z hlavy ani vlas!“ 12 „Smí tvá služebnice povědět panu králi ještě něco?“ zeptala se žena. „Mluv,“ přivolil. 13 Tehdy mu řekla: „Proč ty sám smýšlíš podobně proti Božímu lidu? Když král takto mluví, jako by obvinil sám sebe – vždyť sám nedovolil svému vyhnanci vrátit se domů. 14 Všichni jsme přece smrtelní. Jsme jako voda na zem rozlitá, která se nedá posbírat. Bůh ale nechce brát život. Připravuje způsoby, aby od něj vyhnanec nezůstal zahnán nadobro. 15 Proto jsem přišla; chtěla jsem to panu králi vypovědět, protože mi ti lidé nahnali strach. Tvá služebnice si řekla: Povím to králi. Co když král prosbě své služky vyhoví? 16 Možná král svou služku vyslyší a zachrání ji ze spárů toho, kdo mě chce i s mým synem vyhladit z Božího dědictví. 17 Tvá služebnice si řekla: Kéž slovo pana krále přinese klid. Vždyť pan král rozlišuje dobro a zlo jako Boží anděl. Kéž je Hospodin, tvůj Bůh, s tebou!“ 18 „Na něco se tě zeptám,“ přerušil ji král. „Nic přede mnou netaj.“ „Mluv prosím, pane králi,“ odpověděla. 19 „Nemá v tom všem prsty Joáb?“ zeptal se jí. „Jakože jsi živ, pane králi!“ zvolala. „Před slovy pana krále člověk neunikne napravo ani nalevo. Ano, tvůj služebník Joáb mi to přikázal; to on tvou služebnici naučil všechna tato slova. 20 Tvůj služebník Joáb to udělal, aby změnil stav té věci. Můj pán je ale moudrý jako Boží anděl; ví o všem, co se děje na zemi.“ 21 Král pak promluvil s Joábem: „Tak dobře, udělám to. Jdi a přiveď mého chlapce Abšaloma zpátky.“ 22 Joáb padl tváří k zemi, klaněl se a děkoval králi: „Dnes tvůj služebník poznal, že jsem u tebe došel přízně, můj pane a králi, neboť král vyhověl prosbě svého služebníka.“ 23 Potom Joáb vstal, odešel do Gešuru a přivedl Abšaloma do Jeruzaléma. 24 Král však prohlásil: „Smí jít k sobě domů, ale ať mi nechodí na oči.“ Abšalom se tedy vrátil domů, ale králi na oči nesměl.

Abšalomův převrat

25 V celém Izraeli nebyl tak vyhlášený krasavec jako Abšalom. Od hlavy až k patě neměl jedinou vadu. 26 Když si stříhal vlasy (nechával si je stříhat vždy jednou za rok, protože ho už tížily), potom je zvážil a bylo to 200 šekelů^[4] podle královské váhy! 27 Abšalomovi se narodili tři synové a jedna dcera jménem Támar; vyrostla z ní překrásná žena. 28 Abšalom už byl v Jeruzalémě dva roky, ale stále ještě nesměl králi na oči. 29 Chtěl proto ke králi vyslat Joába, ale když si pro něj poslal, Joáb nechtěl přijít. Poslal pro něj tedy znovu, ale on nechtěl přijít ani podruhé. 30 Tehdy Abšalom řekl svým služebníkům: „Víte, že Joábovo pole sousedí s mým. Má na něm ječmen; jděte a zapalte mu ho.“ A tak Abšalomovi služebníci to pole vypálili. 31 Joáb pak hned přišel za Abšalomem domů. „Jak to, že mi tví služebníci vypálili pole?“ ptal se ho. 32 „Víš, že jsem ti vzkazoval, že máš za mnou přijít,“ odpověděl mu Abšalom. „Chci tě poslat za králem, aby ses ho zeptal, proč jsem se vlastně měl vrátit z Gešuru. Bylo by mi lépe, kdybych tam zůstal! Chci už krále vidět! Jestli na mně zůstává vina, ať mě dá raději zabít.“ 33 Joáb tedy šel za králem a vyřídil mu to. Král potom Abšaloma k sobě pozval, a ten k němu přišel a poklonil se před ním až k zemi. Král pak Abšaloma políbil.

8 Da sagte der König zu der Frau: Geh nach Hause! Ich werde deinetwegen Anweisungen erteilen. 9 Die Frau aus Tekoa erwiderte dem König: Mein Herr und König, dann lastet die Schuld auf mir und dem Haus meines Vaters. Der König aber und sein Thron sind schuldlos. 10 Der König antwortete: Wenn jemand gegen dich spricht, bring ihn zu mir; er wird dir nicht wieder zu nahe treten. 11 Sie aber sagte: Der König rufe doch den HERRN, deinen Gott, dafür an, dass der Bluträcher nicht noch mehr Unheil anrichtet und meinen Sohn umbringt.
