1V tom utíkaje David z Náiot, kteréž jest v Ráma, přišel a mluvil před Jonatou: Což jsem učinil? Jaká jest nepravost má? A jaký jest hřích můj před otcem tvým, že hledá bezživotí mého?2Kterýž řekl jemu: Odstup to, neumřeš. Aj, nečiníť otec můj ničeho ani velikého ani malého, čehož by se mi nesvěřil. Jak by tedy otec můj tajil to přede mnou! Neníť toho.3Nadto přisáhl také David, (to promluviv: Dobřeť ví otec tvůj, že jsi laskav na mne, protož myslí: Nechť neví o tom Jonata, aby neměl zámutku). Nýbrž jistě, živť jest Hospodin, a živať jest duše tvá, že sotva jest kročej mezi mnou a mezi smrtí.4Odpověděl Jonata Davidovi: Pověz, čehokoli žádáš, a učiním tobě.5I řekl David Jonatovi: Aj, zítra bude novměsíce, kdyžto já mám obyčej sedati s králem k jídlu; protož propusť mne, a skryji se na poli až do třetího večera.6Jestliže by se zvláštně na mne ptal otec tvůj, řekneš: Prosil mne velice David, aby sběhl do Betléma města svého; nebo obět výroční tam míti má všecka jeho rodina.7Řekne-liť: Dobře, pokoj služebníku tvému; pakliť se rozzlobí, věz, žeť se doplnila zlost jeho.8A tak učiníš milosrdenství s služebníkem svým, poněvadž jsi v smlouvu Hospodinovu uvedl služebníka svého s sebou. Pakliť jest na mně nepravost, zabí mne sám; nebo k otci svému proč bys mne vodil?9I řekl Jonata: Odstup to od tebe; nebo zvím-liť to jistotně, že by se doplnila zlost otce mého, aby přišla na tě, zdaliž neoznámím tobě toho?10Řekl také David Jonatovi: Kdož mi oznámí, jestliže odpoví tobě otec tvůj něco tvrdě?11Odpověděl Jonata Davidovi: Poď, vyjděme na pole. I vyšli oba na pole.12Opět řekl Jonata Davidovi: Hospodin Bůh Izraelský, (hned jakž porozumím na otci svém, okolo tohoto času zítra neb pozejtří, an bude dobře s Davidem, jestliže nepošli tehdáž k tobě, a neoznámím-liť),13Toto učiň Hospodin Jonatovi a toto přidej. Pakliť se bude líbiti otci mému uvésti zlé na tebe, takéť i to zjevím tobě a propustím tě; i půjdeš v pokoji, a Hospodin budiž s tebou, jakož byl s otcem mým.14A zdaliž i ty, dokud jsem živ, neučiníš se mnou milosrdenství Hospodinova, ano bychť i umřel,15Tak že neodvrátíš milosrdenství svého od domu mého až na věky, zvláště tehdáž, když Hospodin vypléní nepřátely Davidovy, jednoho každého se svrchku země.16A tak učinil Jonata smlouvu s domem Davidovým, řka: Vyhledávejž Hospodin toho z ruky nepřátel Davidových.17Ještě i přísahou zavázal Jonata v lásce odměnné k sobě Davida; nebo jakož miloval duši svou, tak jej miloval.18I řekl mu Jonata: Zítra bude novměsíce, a bude se ptáti na tebe, když prázdné bude místo tvé.19Do třetího tedy dne skrývaje se, sstoupíš rychle a přijdeš k tomu místu, na kterémžs se byl skryl, když se to jednalo, a pobudeš u kamene pocestných.20A já tři střely vystřelím po straně k němu, směřuje sobě k cíli.21Potom hned pošli pachole a dím: Jdi, shledej střely. Jestliže prostě řeknu služebníku: Hle, střely za tebou blíže sem, přines je, tedy přiď, nebo jest pokoj tobě, a neníť žádného nebezpečenství, živť jest Hospodin.22Pakli takto řeknu pacholeti: Hle, střely jsou před tebou dále, tedy odejdi, nebo propustil tě Hospodin.23Řeči pak této, kterouž jsme mluvili já a ty, aj, Hospodin svědek bude mezi mnou a mezi tebou až na věky.24A tak skryl se David na poli. Byl pak novměsíce, i sedl král za stůl k jídlu.25A seděl král na stolici své, jakž obyčej měl, na stolici u stěny, ale Jonata povstal. Sedl také Abner podlé Saule, a místo Davidovo zůstalo prázdné.26A však toho dne Saul nic neříkal, nebo myslil: Něco se mu přihodilo, buď že čistý jest neb nečistý.27Stalo se pak nazejtří, druhého dne novměsíce, že opět prázdné bylo místo Davidovo. I řekl Saul Jonatovi synu svému: Proč nepřišel syn Izai ani včera ani dnes k jídlu?28Odpověděl Jonata Saulovi: Velice mne prosil David, aby šel do Betléma.29A řekl: Odpusť mne, prosím, nebo obět má míti rodina naše v městě, a bratr můj sám rozkázal mi přijíti; nyní tedy, nalezl-li jsem milost před očima tvýma, nechť se odtrhnu, prosím, abych navštívil bratří své. Tou příčinou nepřišel k stolu královskému.30I rozhněval se Saul náramně na Jonatu, a řekl jemu: Synu převrácený a urputný, zdaliž nevím, že jsi zvolil sobě syna Izai k hanbě své, i k hanbě a lehkosti matky své?31Nebo po všecky dny, v nichž bude živ syn Izai na zemi, nebudeš upevněn ty, ani království tvé. Protož hned pošli a přiveď jej ke mně, nebť jest hoden smrti.32Odpověděl Jonata Saulovi otci svému, a řekl jemu: Proč má umříti? Což jest učinil?33I hodil Saul kopím na něj, aby ho zabil. Tedy seznav Jonata, že uložil otec jeho zabiti Davida,34Vstal od stolu Jonata, rozpálen jsa hněvem, a nejedl toho druhého dne novuměsíce pokrmu, nebo bolestil pro Davida, a že ho tak zlehčil otec jeho.35Protož stalo se ráno, že vyšel Jonata na pole k času uloženému Davidovi, a pachole malé s ním.36Tedy řekl pacholeti svému: Běž a shledej střely, kteréž já vystřelím. I běželo pachole, a on střílel daleko před něj.37Když pak přišlo pachole až k cíli, k němuž střílel Jonata, volal Jonata za pacholetem a řekl: Zdaliž není střely před tebou tam dále?38Opět volal Jonata za pacholetem: Rychle pospěš, nestůj. A tak sebravši pachole Jonatovo střely, vrátilo se k svému pánu.39(Pachole pak nic nevědělo, toliko Jonata a David věděli, co se jedná.)40I dal Jonata braň svou pacholeti, kteréž s ním bylo, a řekl jemu: Jdi, dones do města.41A když odešlo pachole, vstal David s strany polední, a padna na tvář svou k zemi, poklonil se třikrát; a políbivše jeden druhého plakali oba, až Jonata Davida pozdvihl.42I řekl Jonata Davidovi: Jdiž u pokoji, a což jsme sobě oba přisáhli ve jménu Hospodinovu, řkouce: Hospodin budiž svědkem mezi mnou a tebou, i mezi semenem mým a mezi semenem tvým, nechť trvá až na věky. [ (I Samuel 20:43) A tak vstav David, odšel, Jonata pak navrátil se do města. ]
— Davidovo loučení s Jónatanem - Jónatan po marném vyjednávání prozrazuje Saulovy vražedné úmysly, obnovuje s Davidem smlouvu a propouští ho ze svých služeb.
1 David uprchl z prorockého domu v Rámě a přišel si Jónatanovi postěžovat: „Co jsem provedl? Jaký je můj zločin? Jaký je můj hřích vůči tvému otci, že mi ukládá o život?“2 On mu odvětil: „Toho buď dalek! Nezemřeš. Vždyť můj otec neudělá ani to nejmenší, aniž se mi svěří. Proč by tohle můj otec přede mnou skrýval? Není tomu tak.“3 David se ještě zapřisáhl a odporoval: „Tvůj otec určitě ví, že jsem získal tvou přízeň. Řekl: ‚Ať o tom neví Jónatan, aby se netrápil.‘ Nicméně, jakože živ je Hospodin a jakože živ jsi ty, od smrti mě dělí jen krůček.“ 4 Jónatan se tedy Davida otázal: „Co chceš, abych pro tebe udělal?“5 David Jónatanovi řekl: „Hle, zítra je novoluní a já mám sedět s králem u jídla. Propusť mě a já se budu až do třetího dne navečer skrývat v poli.6 Bude-li mě tvůj otec pohřešovat, řekneš: ‚David mě naléhavě prosil, aby si směl odběhnout do svého města Betléma; koná se tam výroční obětní hod pro celou čeleď.‘7 Jestliže řekne: ‚Dobře,‘ může být tvůj služebník klidný, jestliže však ho popadne vztek, věz, že se odhodlal k nejhoršímu.8 Prokaž proto milosrdenství svému služebníku, neboť jsi vstoupil se svým služebníkem ve smlouvu před Hospodinem. Jestliže jsem spáchal nějaký zločin, usmrť mě ty sám. Proč bys mě teď vodil ke svému otci?“9 Ale Jónatan odvětil: „Toho buď dalek! Dozvím-li se bezpečně, že se můj otec vůči tobě odhodlal k nejhoršímu, neoznámím ti to snad?“10 David se Jónatana otázal: „Kdo mi oznámí, když ti tvůj otec odpoví tvrdě?“ 11 Jónatan Davida vybídl: „Pojď, vyjdeme na pole.“ Oba vyšli na pole.12 Tu řekl Jónatan Davidovi: „Při Hospodinu, Bohu Izraele! Když zítra či pozítří v příhodnou dobu od svého otce vyzvím, že je to s Davidem dobré, tedy k tobě nikoho nepošlu a nebudu ti nic vzkazovat.13 Ať se mnou Hospodin udělá, co chce! Vzkážu ti, rozhodne-li se můj otec vůči tobě pro to nejhorší. Propustím tě a půjdeš v pokoji. Hospodin buď s tebou, jako byl s mým otcem.14 Avšak i ty mi prokazuj Hospodinovo milosrdenství, pokud budu živ a nezemřu,15 a nezpřetrhej svazky svého milosrdenství vůči mé rodině nikdy, ani tenkrát, až Hospodin vyhladí Davidovy nepřátele z povrchu země do posledního muže.“16 I uzavřel Jónatan s Davidovým domem smlouvu: „Ať Hospodin volá Davidovy nepřátele k odpovědnosti.“17 Nadto zavázal Jónatan Davida přísahou při své lásce k němu, neboť ho z duše miloval. 18 Jónatan mu řekl: „Zítra bude novoluní, a až si všimnou tvého sedadla, budeš pohřešován.19 Třetího dne rychle sestup a přijď k místu, kde ses skrýval v den jednání, a zůstaň u kamene Ezelu.20 Já vystřelím vedle něho tři šípy, jako bych je vypustil na nějaký terč.21Hned nato pošlu chlapce: ‚Jdi najít šípy.‘ Jestliže chlapci výslovně řeknu: ‚Hle, šípy jsou zde za tebou, seber je,‘ pak přijď, neboť to pro tebe bude znamenat pokoj, nic se ti nestane, jakože živ je Hospodin.22 Jestliže však řeknu mladíkovi: ‚Hle, šípy jsou dál před tebou,‘ pak odejdi, neboť tě posílá Hospodin.23 Ale slovo, které jsme si dali, já a ty, platí. Hospodin je navěky svědkem mezi mnou a tebou!“ 24 David se tedy skryl v poli. Když nastalo novoluní, král zasedl k hodu a jedl.25 Král se posadil tak jako jindy na sedadlo u stěny, ale Jónatan stál; po Saulově boku se posadil Abnér. Povšimli si Davidova místa.26 Onoho dne o tom Saul nepromluvil, neboť si řekl: „Přihodilo se mu něco, co jej znečistilo, není čistý.“27 Když však druhého dne po novoluní si opět všimli Davidova místa, otázal se Saul svého syna Jónatana: „Proč Jišajův syn včera ani dnes nepřišel k hodu?“28 Jónatan Saulovi odpověděl: „David mě naléhavě prosil, aby směl do Betléma.29 Řekl: ‚Propusť mě, naše čeleď má ve městě obětní hod. Můj bratr mi přikázal přijít. Jestliže jsem tedy získal tvou přízeň, rád bych se uvolnil a podíval se na své bratry.‘ Proto se nedostavil ke královu stolu.“ 30 Saul vzplanul proti Jónatanovi hněvem a křičel na něj: „Ty synu poběhlice, což jsem to nevěděl, že si Jišajova syna vyvoluješ ke své hanbě i k hanbě klínu své matky?31 Po všechny dny života Jišajova syna na zemi neobstojíš ty ani tvé království. Hned pro něho pošli a dej ho přivést ke mně, protože je synem smrti.“32 Jónatan svému otci Saulovi odpověděl a otázal se ho: „Proč má zemřít? Co provedl?“33 Avšak Saul po něm mrštil kopím, aby ho proklál. I poznal Jónatan, že jeho otec je odhodlán Davida usmrtit. 34 Jónatan, rozpálen hněvem, vstal od stolu a toho druhého dne po novoluní při hodu nejedl, protože se trápil pro Davida, že ho jeho otec potupil.35 Za jitra vyšel Jónatan na pole podle dohody s Davidem a byl s ním malý chlapec.36 Poručil svému chlapci: „Běž najít šípy, které vystřelím.“ Zatímco chlapec běžel, on přes něho vystřelil šíp.37 Když chlapec přišel k místu, kam Jónatan šíp vystřelil, volal Jónatan za chlapcem: „Není šíp tam dál před tebou?“38 A Jónatan volal za chlapcem: „Rychle, spěchej, nezastavuj se!“ Jónatanův chlapec posbíral šípy a přišel ke svému pánu.39 Chlapec nic netušil. Jen Jónatan a David věděli, oč jde.40 Jónatan pak dal svou zbroj chlapci, kterého měl s sebou, a poručil mu: „Jdi, zanes to do města.“41A chlapec šel. Tu povstal David od jižní strany, padl tváří k zemi a třikrát se poklonil. Políbili se a plakali jeden pro druhého, až se David vzchopil.42 Jónatan řekl Davidovi: „Jdi v pokoji. Co jsme si my dva v Hospodinově jménu přísahali, toho ať je Hospodin navěky svědkem mezi mnou a tebou i mezi mým a tvým potomstvem.“
1David ale z chýší v Rámě uprchl. Přišel k Jonatanovi a ptal se: „Co jsem provedl? Čím jsem se provinil? Jak jsem tvému otci ublížil, že mi chce vzít život?“2„Nic takového!“ odpověděl Jonatan. „Nemáš zemřít. Můj otec přece nedělá nic velkého ani malého, aniž by se mi svěřil. Proč by právě tohle přede mnou skrýval? Tak to není.“3David mu to ale odpřisáhl. Řekl mu: „Tvůj otec určitě ví, že sis mě oblíbil. Proto si říká: ‚Raději ať o tom Jonatan neví, aby se netrápil.‘ Ale jakože je živ Hospodin a živ jsi ty, od smrti mě dělí už jen krok!“4Jonatan odpověděl: „Udělám pro tebe, cokoli budeš chtít.“5David tedy Jonatanovi řekl: „Jak víš, zítra je slavnost novoluní a já bych měl sedět s králem u jídla. Nech mě ale odejít a skrýt se venku na poli až do pozítří večer.6Pokud si tvůj otec všimne mé nepřítomnosti, řekneš: ‚David mě prosil o svolení, aby mohl rychle domů do Betléma, protože tam jejich rod koná výroční oběť.‘7Pokud na to řekne: ‚Dobrá,‘ pak jsem v bezpečí. Pokud se ale rozzuří, pak věz, že se mě rozhodl zabít.8Tehdy mě, svému služebníku, prokaž laskavost – vždyť jsi se mnou před Hospodinem vstoupil do smlouvy. Jsem-li vinen, zabij mě sám. Proč bys mě vodil ke svému otci?“9„To nikdy!“ zvolal Jonatan. „Pokud zjistím, že se tě můj otec rozhodl zabít, určitě ti to dám vědět!“10„A kdo mi poví, jestli ti tvůj otec odpověděl hrubě?“ zeptal se David Jonatana.11„Pojď,“ vyzval Jonatan Davida, „půjdeme ven.“ Když pak spolu vyšli ven,12Jonatan Davidovi řekl: „Při Hospodinu, Bohu Izraele, zjistím, co můj otec zamýšlí! Pozítří v určenou dobou ti vzkážu, zda je to s Davidem dobré, nebo ne. Přece bych ti to nezatajil.13Pokud ti ale můj otec bude chtít ublížit, pak ať mě Hospodin potrestá a ještě mi přidá, kdybych ti to zatajil a nepropustil tě v pokoji. Ať je Hospodin s tebou, jako býval s mým otcem.14Pokud budu živ, i ty mi prokazuj Hospodinovu laskavost. A pokud zemřu,15neodvracej nikdy svou laskavost od mého domu. Hospodin ať vyhladí všechny Davidovy nepřátele ze země!“16Tak Jonatan uzavřel smlouvu s domem Davidovým: „Hospodin ať zúčtuje s Davidovými nepřáteli!“17Jonatan z lásky k Davidovi zopakoval svou přísahu, neboť ho miloval jako sám sebe.18Pak mu Jonatan pověděl: „Zítra je novoluní. Všimnou si tvé nepřítomnosti, protože vědí, kde sedáváš.19Pozítří rychle přijď k tomu místu, kde ses ukryl prve, a zůstaň tam u kamene Ezel.20Já poblíž vystřelím tři šípy, jako bych střílel na terč.21Hned nato pošlu mládence: ‚Běž najít ty šípy.‘ Jestliže tomu chlapci řeknu: ‚Podívej se, šípy jsou za tebou, přines je‘ – pak můžeš přijít, neboť jsi v bezpečí a nic ti nehrozí, jakože je živ Hospodin.22Pokud ale tomu chlapci řeknu: ‚Podívej se, šípy jsou daleko před tebou‘ – pak musíš odejít, neboť tě Hospodin posílá pryč.23Hospodin ať je svědkem naší úmluvy až navěky.“24David se tedy ukryl venku. Bylo novoluní a král zasedl k hostině.25Král zaujal své obvyklé místo u zdi naproti Jonatanovi[1] a po Saulově boku zasedl Abner. Davidovo místo zůstalo prázdné.26Toho dne Saul neříkal nic, myslel si: Něco se mu asi přihodilo, že se poskvrnil, a tak je nečistý.27Nazítří, druhého dne po novoluní, bylo Davidovo místo stále prázdné. Saul se tedy zeptal svého syna Jonatana: „Proč Jišajův syn včera ani dnes nepřišel k jídlu?“28„David mě prosil o svolení, aby směl do Betléma,“ odpověděl mu Jonatan.29„Říkal: ‚Propusť mě prosím. Naše rodina koná ve městě oběť a můj bratr mi přikázal, ať přijdu. Buď tedy prosím tak laskav a uvolni mě, ať smím navštívit své bratry.‘ To proto nepřišel ke královskému stolu.“30„Ty mizerný parchante!“ rozlítil se Saul na Jonatana. „Copak nevím, že ses s tím Jišajovým synem spřáhnul?! Že ti není hanba! Jsi hanba a ostuda své matky!31Dokud bude Jišajův syn na světě, nebudeš si jist sebou ani svým královstvím! Hned ho nech zajmout, protože musí zemřít!“32„A proč má zemřít?“ zeptal se Jonatan svého otce Saula. „Co provedl?“33Vtom po něm Saul mrštil kopím, aby ho probodl. Tak Jonatan poznal, že jeho otec je odhodlán Davida zabít.34Jonatan vstal od stolu, rozpálen hněvem, a toho druhého dne novoluní už nejedl. Trápil se totiž kvůli Davidovi i kvůli tomu, že ho otec tak zostudil.35Když přišlo ráno, Jonatan vyšel ven, jak se dohodli s Davidem. Měl s sebou malého chlapce36a tomu řekl: „Běž a hledej šípy, které budu střílet.“ Chlapec se rozběhl a on vystřelil šíp přes něj.37Když chlapec dorazil blízko Jonatanova šípu, Jonatan na chlapce zavolal: „Ten šíp je přece ještě dál!“38Potom na chlapce volal: „Rychle, pospěš si, nestůj!“ Jonatanův chlapec pak ten šíp našel a vrátil se ke svému pánovi.39Ten chlapec nic netušil. Jen Jonatan a David věděli, o co jde.40Jonatan pak dal chlapci, který ho provázel, svou zbraň a řekl mu: „Jdi, odnes to do města.“41Jakmile chlapec odešel, od jihu se vynořil David. Padl tváří k zemi a třikrát se poklonil. Políbili se navzájem a společně plakali, hlavně David.42„Jdi v pokoji,“ řekl mu Jonatan. „Co jsme si v Hospodinově jménu přísahali, toho ať je Hospodin svědkem mezi námi dvěma i mezi naším potomstvem až navěky.“

Aber, so wahr der HERR lebt und so wahr du selbst lebst: Zwischen mir und dem Tod liegt nur ein Schritt.4Jonatan fragte David: Was meinst du? Was könnte ich für dich tun?5David antwortete Jonatan: Du weißt doch, morgen ist Neumond. Da müsste ich unbedingt am Mahl des Königs teilnehmen. Lass mich fortgehen, damit ich mich bis übermorgen Abend auf dem Feld versteckt halte![1] (Iz 1,13)6Wenn dein Vater mich vermisst, dann sag: David hat mich dringend gebeten, in seine Heimatstadt Betlehem gehen zu dürfen, weil dort das jährliche Opfer für die ganze Sippe stattfindet. (1S 1,21)7Wenn er dann sagt: Gut!, dann steht es günstig für deinen Knecht. Wenn er aber in heftigen Zorn gerät, dann kannst du daran erkennen, dass das Unheil von ihm beschlossen ist. (Est 7,7)8Zeig deinem Knecht also deine Freundschaft; denn du hast mit deinem Knecht einen Bund vor dem HERRN geschlossen. Wenn ich Schuld auf mich geladen habe, dann töte mich gleich! Warum willst du mich erst zu deinem Vater bringen? (1S 18,3)9Jonatan antwortete: Das darf nicht mit dir geschehen. Sobald ich sicher weiß, dass mein Vater beschlossen hat, Unheil über dich zu bringen, werde ich es dir auf jeden Fall mitteilen. (1S 19,3)10David aber fragte Jonatan: Wer wird mir die Nachricht bringen, wenn dir dein Vater etwa eine schroffe Antwort gibt?11Jonatan sagte zu David: Komm, wir wollen aufs Feld hinausgehen. Beide gingen aufs Feld hinaus.12Und Jonatan sagte zu David: Beim HERRN, dem Gott Israels: Wenn ich morgen oder übermorgen um diese Zeit bei meinem Vater in Erfahrung bringe, dass es gut für David steht, dann werde ich jemand schicken und es dir sagen lassen.13Der HERR möge Jonatan dies und das antun: Wenn mein Vater Böses gegen dich im Sinn hat, werde ich es dir sagen und werde dich in Frieden gehen lassen. Der HERR möge mit dir sein, wie er mit meinem Vater gewesen ist. (1Kr 1,37)14Nicht wahr, wenn ich dann noch am Leben bin, wirst du entsprechend der Huld des HERRN an mir handeln. Wenn ich aber umkomme, (2S 9,1)15dann entzieh meinem Haus niemals deine Gunst, selbst wenn der HERR jeden der Feinde Davids auf dem Erdboden ausrottet.16So schloss Jonatan einen Bund mit dem Haus David. - Der HERR wird es aus der Hand von Davids Feinden einfordern.[2] (1S 18,3)17Und Jonatan ließ auch David bei seiner Liebe zu ihm schwören; denn er liebte ihn wie sein eigenes Leben.18Dann sagte Jonatan zu ihm: Morgen ist Neumond. Du wirst vermisst werden, wenn dein Platz leer sein wird.19Übermorgen aber geh weit hinab, an den Ort, wo du dich am Tag der Tat versteckt hattest, und setz dich neben den Stein dort![3] (1S 19,3)20Ich werde dann drei Pfeile in seine Nähe schießen, als ob ich ein Ziel treffen wollte.21Siehe, ich schicke meinen Diener und sage: Geh, such nach den Pfeilen! So kam der Neumond und der König setzte sich zu Tisch, um das Mahl zu halten. Davids Platz aber blieb leer.[4]26Saul sagte an diesem Tag nichts, denn er dachte: Es ist ihm etwas zugestoßen, was ihn unrein sein lässt; sicher ist er nicht rein.27Als aber am zweiten Tag, dem Tag nach dem Neumond, der Platz Davids wieder leer blieb, sagte Saul zu seinem Sohn Jonatan: Warum ist der Sohn Isais gestern und heute nicht zum Essen gekommen?28Jonatan antwortete Saul: David hat mich dringend gebeten, nach Betlehem gehen zu dürfen.29Er sagte: Lass mich gehen; denn in der Stadt findet ein Opfer unserer Sippe statt. Mein Bruder selbst hat mich aufgefordert. Wenn ich dein Wohlwollen gefunden habe, dann möchte ich jetzt fortgehen dürfen und meine Brüder wiedersehen. Deswegen ist David nicht an den Tisch des Königs gekommen. (2S 15,7)30Da wurde Saul zornig über Jonatan und sagte: Du Sohn eines entarteten und aufsässigen Weibes! Ich weiß sehr gut, dass du dich zu deiner eigenen Schande und zur Schande des Schoßes deiner Mutter für den Sohn Isais entschieden hast.31Doch solange der Sohn Isais auf Erden lebt, wirst weder du noch dein Königtum Bestand haben.
