Ще ви го върна!4А те казаха: Не си ни онеправдал, нито си ни притеснил, нито си взел нещо от ръката на някого.5И той им каза: ГОСПОД е свидетел против вас и Неговият помазаник е свидетел днес, че не сте намерили нищо в ръката ми. И те отговориха: Свидетел е.6Тогава Самуил каза на народа: ГОСПОД е, който постави Мойсей и Аарон, и който изведе бащите ви от египетската земя.7И сега застанете, за да разсъждавам с вас пред ГОСПОДА за всичките справедливи дела на ГОСПОДА, които Той извърши за вас и за бащите ви.8Когато Яков отиде в Египет, бащите ви извикаха към ГОСПОДА и ГОСПОД изпрати Мойсей и Аарон, които изведоха бащите ви от Египет и ги заселиха на това място.9Но те забравиха ГОСПОДА, своя Бог; затова Той ги предаде[1] в ръката на Сисара, военачалника на войската на Асор, в ръката на филистимците и в ръката на царя на Моав; и те воюваха срещу тях.10Тогава те извикаха към ГОСПОДА и казаха: Съгрешихме, че оставихме ГОСПОДА и служихме на ваалимите и астартите; но сега ни избави от ръката на враговете ни, и ще Ти служим!11И ГОСПОД изпрати Ероваал, Ведан, Ефтай и Самуил, и ви избави от ръката на враговете ви отвсякъде, и вие живеехте в безопасност.12А когато видяхте, че Наас, царят на синовете на Амон, дойде срещу вас, ми казахте: Цар да царува над нас! – когато ГОСПОД, вашият Бог, ви беше цар.13И сега, ето царят, когото избрахте и когото искахте! И ето, ГОСПОД постави цар над вас.14Ако се боите от ГОСПОДА и Му служите, и слушате гласа Му, и не се бунтувате срещу ГОСПОДНАТА заповед, и вие, и царят, който царува над вас, следвате ГОСПОДА, своя Бог, тогава ГОСПОД ще бъде с вас.15Но ако не слушате гласа на ГОСПОДА и се бунтувате срещу ГОСПОДНАТА заповед, тогава ръката на ГОСПОДА ще бъде против вас, както беше против бащите ви.16И сега, пристъпете и вижте това велико нещо, което ГОСПОД ще направи пред очите ви.17Не е ли сега пшеничената жетва? Аз ще призова ГОСПОДА и Той ще изпрати гръмотевици и дъжд; и ще познаете и видите, че е голямо злото ви, което направихте пред ГОСПОДА, като поискахте за себе си цар.18И Самуил призова ГОСПОДА и ГОСПОД изпрати гръмотевици и дъжд в онзи ден; и целият народ се убоя много от ГОСПОДА и от Самуил.19И целият народ каза на Самуил: Помоли се за слугите си на ГОСПОДА, своя Бог, за да не умрем, защото към всичките си грехове прибавихме и това зло, да искаме за себе си цар[2]!20А Самуил каза на народа: Не се бойте. Вие наистина извършихте цялото това зло; но не се отклонявайте от следването на ГОСПОДА, а служете на ГОСПОДА с цялото си сърце.21И не се отклонявайте, защото тогава ще отидете след празни неща, които не ползват и не избавят, защото са празни.22Защото ГОСПОД няма да остави народа Си заради великото Си Име, понеже ГОСПОД благоволи да ви направи Свой народ.23А колкото до мен, далеч да бъде от мен да съгреша против ГОСПОДА, като престана да се моля за вас; а ще ви уча на добрия и правия път.24Само се бойте от ГОСПОДА и Му служете в истина с цялото си сърце, защото видяхте какви велики неща е извършил Той за вас.25Но ако продължите да вършите зло, тогава и вие, и царят ви ще загинете.
1And Samuel said to all Israel, “Behold, I have obeyed your voice in all that you have said to me and have made a king over you.
