И герарският цар Авимелех[1] прати и взе Сара.3Но Бог дойде при Авимелех насън през нощта и му каза: Ето, ти умираш поради жената, която си взел, защото тя си има мъж.4А Авимелех не се беше приближил при нея. И каза: Господи, ще убиеш ли и един праведен народ?5Не ми ли каза сам той: Сестра ми е? А и тя, сама тя каза: Той ми е брат. С право сърце и с чисти ръце направих това.6И Бог му каза насън: Да, Аз зная, че си направил това с право сърце; и Аз те въздържах да не съгрешиш против Мен, и затова не те оставих да се докоснеш до нея.7И така, сега върни жената на човека, защото е пророк и ще се помоли за теб, и ти ще останеш жив; но ако не я върнеш, знай, че непременно ще умреш, ти и всички твои.8На сутринта, като стана рано, Авимелех повика всичките си слуги и каза всички тези неща в ушите им; и мъжете много се уплашиха.9Тогава Авимелех повика Авраам и му каза: Какво ни направи ти? Какво ти съгреших, че си навлякъл на мен и на царството ми такъв голям грях? Направил си ми неща, които не трябва да се правят!10И Авимелех каза още на Авраам: Какво си имал на ум, че стори това нещо?11И Авраам каза: Сторих го понеже си казах: Няма да има страх от Бога в това място и ще ме убият заради жена ми.12А при това тя наистина ми е сестра, дъщеря на баща ми, но не и дъщеря на майка ми; и ми стана жена.13И когато Бог ме направи да странствам от бащиния си дом, ѝ казах: Направи ми тази добрина – на всяко място, където отидем, казвай за мен: Той ми е брат.14Тогава Авимелех взе овце и говеда, слуги и слугини и ги даде на Авраам, и върна жена му Сара.15И Авимелех каза: Ето, земята ми е пред теб: засели се където ти се вижда добре.16А на Сара каза: Ето, дадох на брат ти хиляда сребърника; ето, това ти е покривало за очите пред всички, които са с теб; и пред всички хора си оправдана.17И така, Авраам се помоли на Бога, и Бог изцели Авимелех и жена му, и слугините му, така че отново раждаха деца.18Защото поради Сара, жената на Авраам, ГОСПОД беше заключил напълно всички утроби в дома на Авимелех.
1From there Abraham journeyed toward the territory of the Negeb and lived between Kadesh and Shur; and he sojourned in Gerar. (Бит 16:7; Бит 16:14; Бит 26:3; Бит 26:6)2And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, “She is my sister.” And Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah. And she herself said, ‘He is my brother.’ In the integrity of my heart and the innocence of my hands I have done this.”6Then God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know that you have done this in the integrity of your heart, and it was I who kept you from sinning against me. Therefore I did not let you touch her. (Бит 39:9; Пс 51:4)7Now then, return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet, so that he will pray for you, and you shall live. But if you do not return her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.” (Чис 16:32; 1 Цар 7:5; Йов 42:8)8So Abimelech rose early in the morning and called all his servants and told them all these things. And the men were very much afraid.9Then Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, “What have you done to us? And how have I sinned against you, that you have brought on me and my kingdom a great sin? You have done to me things that ought not to be done.”10And Abimelech said to Abraham, “What did you see, that you did this thing?”11Abraham said, “I did it because I thought, ‘There is no fear of God at all in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife.’ (Бит 12:12; Бит 26:7; Пр 16:6)12Besides, she is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father though not the daughter of my mother, and she became my wife. (Бит 11:29)13And when God caused me to wander from my father’s house, I said to her, ‘This is the kindness you must do me: at every place to which we come, say of me, “He is my brother.”’” (Бит 12:1; Бит 12:13)14Then Abimelech took sheep and oxen, and male servants and female servants, and gave them to Abraham, and returned Sarah his wife to him. (Бит 12:16)15And Abimelech said, “Behold, my land is before you; dwell where it pleases you.” (Бит 13:9; Бит 34:10)16To Sarah he said, “Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver. It is a sign of your innocence in the eyes of all[1] who are with you, and before everyone you are vindicated.” (Бит 20:5; Бит 24:65)17Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech, and also healed his wife and female slaves so that they bore children. (Як 5:16)18For the Lord had closed all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife. (Бит 12:17)
