1Louez l’Eternel! Oui, louez l’Eternel! Louez-le, vous, ╵les serviteurs de l’Eternel,2vous qui vous tenez dans le temple ╵de l’Eternel, dans les parvis de la demeure ╵de notre Dieu!3Oui, louez l’Eternel ╵car l’Eternel est bon! Et célébrez-le en musique, ╵car il est digne d’être aimé[1]!4L’Eternel s’est choisi Jacob, Israël comme son bien précieux[2]. (Ex 19:5)5Je sais bien pour ma part ╵que l’Eternel est grand et que notre Seigneur ╵surpasse tous les dieux.6L’Eternel fait ╵tout ce qu’il veut au ciel et sur la terre, dans les mers et dans les abîmes.7Des confins de la terre, ╵il fait monter les brumes. Il produit les éclairs ╵au milieu de la pluie, il fait lever le vent ╵qu’il tenait en réserve.8C’est lui qui a frappé ╵les premiers-nés d’Egypte depuis les hommes ╵jusqu’au bétail[3]. (Ex 12:12; Ex 12:29)9Il a réalisé ╵des signes extraordinaires ╵et des prodiges en plein cœur de l’Egypte contre le pharaon ╵et tous ses serviteurs[4]. (Ex 7:1)10C’est lui qui a frappé ╵des peuples en grand nombre et qui a abattu ╵des souverains puissants:11Sihôn, le roi des Amoréens et Og, roi du Basan, et tous les rois de Canaan[5]. (Nb 21:21)12Puis il donna leurs territoires ╵en possession à Israël son peuple.13O Eternel, ╵ta renommée ╵demeure pour l’éternité, et d’âge en âge l’on proclamera ╵ton nom, ô Eternel.14Car l’Eternel ╵rend justice à son peuple, et il nous témoigne sa compassion ╵à nous, ses serviteurs.15Les idoles des autres peuples sont d’argent et d’or, fabriquées par des hommes[6]: (Ps 115:4)16elles ont une bouche, ╵mais ne peuvent parler, elles ont bien des yeux, ╵mais elles ne voient pas.17Elles ont des oreilles, ╵mais qui n’entendent rien. Et pas le moindre souffle ╵ne se trouve en leur bouche.18Ils leur ressemblent ╵tous ceux qui les fabriquent et tous ceux qui mettent leur confiance en elles.19O peuple d’Israël, ╵bénissez l’Eternel! Descendants d’Aaron, ╵bénissez l’Eternel!20Descendants de Lévi, ╵bénissez l’Eternel!
