1Potom jsem uviděl čtyři anděly, kteří stáli ve čtyřech koutech země a drželi čtyři zemské větry, aby vítr nevál na zem ani na moře ani na žádný strom.2Spatřil jsem také jiného anděla, který vystupoval od východu slunce a měl pečetidlo živého Boha. Ten zavolal mocným hlasem na ty čtyři anděly, jimž bylo dáno, aby škodili zemi a moři:3„Neškoďte zemi ani moři ani stromům, dokud neoznačíme služebníky našeho Boha na jejich čelech!“4A slyšel jsem počet označených: sto čtyřiačtyřicet tisíc jich bylo označeno ze všech pokolení synů Izraele:5z pokolení Juda 12 000 označených, z pokolení Ruben 12 000 označených, z pokolení Gád 12 000 označených,6z pokolení Ašer 12 000 označených, z pokolení Neftalí 12 000 označených, z pokolení Manases 12 000 označených,7z pokolení Šimeon 12 000 označených, z pokolení Levi 12 000 označených, z pokolení Isachar 12 000 označených,8z pokolení Zabulon 12 000 označených, z pokolení Josef 12 000 označených, z pokolení Benjamín 12 000 označených.
Nesčíslný zástup
9A hle, potom jsem spatřil veliký zástup, který by nikdo nemohl sečíst, ze všech národů a pokolení a lidí i jazyků, jak stojí před trůnem a před Beránkem, oblečeni do bílých rouch. V rukou měli palmové ratolesti10a hlasitě volali: „Spasení náleží našemu Bohu, jenž sedí na trůnu, a Beránkovi!“11Všichni andělé, kteří stáli okolo trůnu, starců i těch čtyř bytostí, padli před trůnem na tváře a klaněli se Bohu12se slovy: „Amen! Chvála a sláva, moudrost a díkůčinění, čest a moc i síla našemu Bohu na věky věků. Amen!“13Jeden z těch starců pak promluvil a zeptal se mě: „Kdo jsou ti oblečení do bílých rouch a odkud přišli?“14Odpověděl jsem: „Pane můj, ty víš.“ Tehdy mi řekl: „To jsou ti, kteří přišli z velikého soužení. Vyprali svá roucha a vybílili je v krvi Beránka.15Proto jsou před Božím trůnem a slouží mu v jeho chrámu dnem i nocí. Ten, který sedí na trůnu, jim bude přístřeším.16Nebudou už nikdy hladovět ani žíznit, slunce ani horko je nespálí,17neboť je bude pást Beránek, který je uprostřed trůnu. Povede je k pramenům živých vod a Bůh jim setře každou slzu z očí.“[1]

(Jr 49,36; Da 7,2; Zj 7,3)2Then I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, with the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm earth and sea, (Zj 9,4; Zj 16,12)3saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” (Ez 3,8; Ez 9,4; Zj 6,6; Zj 9,4; Zj 13,16; Zj 14,1; Zj 22,4)4And I heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel: (Zj 9,16)512,000 from the tribe of Judah were sealed, 12,000 from the tribe of Reuben, 12,000 from the tribe of Gad,612,000 from the tribe of Asher, 12,000 from the tribe of Naphtali, 12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh,712,000 from the tribe of Simeon, 12,000 from the tribe of Levi, 12,000 from the tribe of Issachar,812,000 from the tribe of Zebulun, 12,000 from the tribe of Joseph, 12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin were sealed.
A Great Multitude from Every Nation
9After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, (Lv 23,40; J 12,13; Ř 11,25; Zj 3,4; Zj 5,9; Zj 7,14)10and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Ž 3,8; Zj 12,10; Zj 19,1)11And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, (Zj 4,6; Zj 4,10)12saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.” (1Pa 29,10; Zj 5,14; Zj 19,4)13Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” (Zj 7,9)14I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. (Iz 1,18; Da 12,10; Za 3,3; Mt 24,21; 1J 1,7; Zj 1,5; Zj 22,14)15“Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. (Iz 4,5; Zj 21,3; Zj 22,3)16They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat. (Ž 121,6; Iz 49,10)17For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” (Ž 23,1; Ž 36,8; Iz 25,8; Mt 2,6; J 4,14; J 10,11; Zj 21,4; Zj 22,1)
