König Jotam von Juda und seine gute Regierung

1 Jotam war 25 Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und er regierte 16 Jahre lang in Jerusalem. Und der Name seiner Mutter war Jerusa, eine Tochter Zadoks. 2 Und er tat, was recht war in den Augen des HERRN, ganz wie es sein Vater Ussija getan hatte, nur dass er nicht in die Tempelhalle des HERRN ging. Aber das Volk handelte noch verderblich. 3 Er baute das obere Tor am Haus des HERRN; auch an der Mauer des Ophel baute er viel. 4 Er baute auch Städte auf dem Bergland Juda; und in den Wäldern baute er Burgen und Türme. 5 Und er kämpfte mit dem König der Ammoniter und überwältigte sie, sodass ihm die Ammoniter in jenem Jahr 100 Talente Silber und 10 000 Kor Weizen und 10 000 Kor Gerste [Tribut] gaben. Dies entrichteten ihm die Ammoniter auch im zweiten und dritten Jahr. 6 So erstarkte Jotam; denn er richtete seine Wege aus vor dem Angesicht des HERRN, seines Gottes. 7 Was aber mehr von Jotam zu sagen ist und alle seine Kriege und seine Wege, siehe, das ist aufgezeichnet im Buch der Könige von Israel und Juda. 8 Mit 25 Jahren war er König geworden, und er regierte 16 Jahre lang in Jerusalem. 9 Und Jotam legte sich zu seinen Vätern; und sie begruben ihn in der Stadt Davids; und sein Sohn Ahas wurde König an seiner Stelle.

Jotham Reigns in Judah

1 Jotham was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok. 2 And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord according to all that his father Uzziah had done, except he did not enter the temple of the Lord. But the people still followed corrupt practices. 3 He built the upper gate of the house of the Lord and did much building on the wall of Ophel. 4 Moreover, he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and forts and towers on the wooded hills. 5 He fought with the king of the Ammonites and prevailed against them. And the Ammonites gave him that year 100 talents* of silver, and 10,000 cors* of wheat and 10,000 of barley. The Ammonites paid him the same amount in the second and the third years. 6 So Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before the Lord his God. 7 Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars and his ways, behold, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah. 8 He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. 9 And Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David, and Ahaz his son reigned in his place.
