1پس از اينكه وارد سرزمين موعود شده، آن را تصرف كرديد و در آن سكونت گزيديد،2بايد نوبر محصول برداشتی زمين خود را به مكانی كه خداوند به عنوان عبادتگاه خود برمیگزيند بياوريد و به خداوند تقديم كنيد. آن را در سبد گذارده، به كاهنی كه سر خدمت است بدهيد و بگوييد: «من اقرار میكنم كه خداوند، خدايم مرا به سرزمينی كه به پدران ما وعده نمود، آورده است.»4سپس كاهن سبد را از دست شما گرفته، آن را جلو قربانگاه خداوند، خدايتان بگذارد.5بعد شما در حضور خداوند، خدايتان اقرار كرده، بگوييد: «اجداد من ارامیهای سرگردانی بودند كه به مصر پناه بردند. هر چند عدهٔ آنها كم بود، ولی در مصر قوم بزرگی شدند.6مصریها با ما بدرفتاری كردند و ما را بردهٔ خود ساختند.7ما نزد خداوند، خدای پدرانمان فرياد برآورديم و خداوند صدای ما را شنيده، زحمت و مشقت و مشكلاتمان را ديد8و ما را با قدرت عظيم خود از مصر بيرون آورد. او در حضور مصريان معجزاتی بزرگ انجام داده، آنها را به وحشت انداخت9و ما را به سرزمين حاصلخيزی كه در آن شير و عسل جاری است آورد.10اكنون ای خداوند، نگاه كن، من نمونهای از نوبر اولين محصولات زمينی را كه به من عطا كردهای برايت آوردهام.» سپس نمونه را در حضور خداوند، خدای خود گذارده، او را پرستش كنيد.11آنگاه برويد و به سبب تمام نعمتهايی كه خدا به شما عطا كرده است او را شكر كنيد و با خانوادهٔ خود و با لاويان و غريبانی كه در ميان شما زندگی میكنند، شادی نماييد.12هر سه سال يک بار، سال مخصوص عشريه است. در آن سال بايد تمام عشريههای محصول خود را به لاويان، غريبان، يتيمان و بيوهزنان شهرتان بدهيد تا بخورند و سير شوند.13سپس در حضور خداوند، خدايتان اعلام كنيد: «ای خداوند، همانگونه كه امر فرمودی تمام عشريههايم را به لاويان، غريبان، يتيمان و بيوهزنان دادهام و از هيچكدام از قوانين تو سرپيچی ننموده آنها را فراموش نكردهام.14زمانی كه شرعاً نجس بودم و وقتی كه عزادار بودم، دست به عشريه نزدهام و چيزی از آن را برای مردگان هديه نكردهام. از تو اطاعت كردهام و تمام احكام تو را بجا آوردهام. ای خداوند، از آسمان كه جايگاه مقدس توست نظر انداخته، قوم خود اسرائيل را بركت بده. اين سرزمين حاصلخيز را نيز كه طبق وعدهات به ما دادهای، بركت عطا فرما.»
قوم خاص خدا
16امروز خداوند، خدايتان امر میفرمايد كه تمام قوانين او را اطاعت كنيد؛ پس شما با تمامی دل و جان آنها را بجا آوريد.17امروز اقرار كردهايد كه او خدای شماست و قول دادهايد از او پيروی نموده، احكامش را بجا آوريد.18خداوند امروز طبق وعدهاش اعلام فرموده است كه شما قوم خاص او هستيد و بايد تمامی قوانين او را اطاعت كنيد.19اگر احكامش را بجا آوريد او شما را از همهٔ قومهای ديگر بزرگتر ساخته، اجازه خواهد داد عزت، احترام و شهرت بيابيد؛ اما برای كسب اين عزت و احترام بايد قوم مقدسی برای او باشيد.

Firstfruits and tithes
1When you have entered the land that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance and have taken possession of it and settled in it,2take some of the firstfruits of all that you produce from the soil of the land that the Lord your God is giving you and put them in a basket. Then go to the place that the Lord your God will choose as a dwelling for his Name3and say to the priest in office at the time, ‘I declare today to the Lord your God that I have come to the land the Lord swore to our ancestors to give us.’4The priest shall take the basket from your hands and set it down in front of the altar of the Lord your God.5Then you shall declare before the Lord your God: ‘My father was a wandering Aramean, and he went down into Egypt with a few people and lived there and became a great nation, powerful and numerous.6But the Egyptians ill-treated us and made us suffer, subjecting us to harsh labour.7Then we cried out to the Lord, the God of our ancestors, and the Lord heard our voice and saw our misery, toil and oppression.8So the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with great terror and with signs and wonders.9He brought us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey;10and now I bring the firstfruits of the soil that you, Lord, have given me.’ Place the basket before the Lord your God and bow down before him.11Then you and the Levites and the foreigners residing among you shall rejoice in all the good things the Lord your God has given to you and your household.12When you have finished setting aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the tithe, you shall give it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that they may eat in your towns and be satisfied.13Then say to the Lord your God: ‘I have removed from my house the sacred portion and have given it to the Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, according to all you commanded. I have not turned aside from your commands nor have I forgotten any of them.14I have not eaten any of the sacred portion while I was in mourning, nor have I removed any of it while I was unclean, nor have I offered any of it to the dead. I have obeyed the Lord my God; I have done everything you commanded me.15Look down from heaven, your holy dwelling-place, and bless your people Israel and the land you have given us as you promised on oath to our ancestors, a land flowing with milk and honey.’
Follow the Lord’s commands
16The Lord your God commands you this day to follow these decrees and laws; carefully observe them with all your heart and with all your soul.17You have declared this day that the Lord is your God and that you will walk in obedience to him, that you will keep his decrees, commands and laws – that you will listen to him.18And the Lord has declared this day that you are his people, his treasured possession as he promised, and that you are to keep all his commands.19He has declared that he will set you in praise, fame and honour high above all the nations he has made and that you will be a people holy to the Lord your God, as he promised.
