Dummköpfe denken: „Es gibt keinen Gott.“ / Sie richten Unheil an / und tun abscheuliche Dinge. / Keinen gibt es, der Gutes tut. 2 Jahwe blickt vom Himmel auf die Menschen herab, / will sehen, ob einer dort verständig ist, / nur einer, der Gott wirklich sucht. 3 Doch alle haben sich von ihm entfernt, / sie sind alle verdorben. / Keiner tut Gutes, nicht einer davon.* 4 Wissen die Bösen denn nicht, was sie tun? / Sie fressen mein Volk, als wäre es Brot, / und zu Jahwe beten sie nicht. 5 Doch werden sie mit Schrecken erfahren, / dass Gott zu den Gerechten steht. 6 Die Hoffnung der Armen wollt ihr zerstören?! / Doch Jahwe gibt ihnen sicheren Schutz. 7 Wenn doch die Rettung aus Zion bald käme! / Wenn Jahwe die Not seines Volkes wendet, / wird Jakob* jubeln und Israel sich freuen.

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

1 Foolish people say in their hearts, ‘There is no God.’ They do all kinds of horrible and evil things. No one does anything good. 2 The LORD looks down from heaven on all people. He wants to see if there are any who understand. He wants to see if there are any who trust in God. 3 All of them have turned away. They have all become evil. No one does anything good, no one at all. 4 Do all these people who do evil know nothing? They eat up my people as if they were eating bread. They never call out to the LORD. 5 But just look at them! They are filled with terror because God is among those who do right. 6 You who do evil keep poor people from succeeding. But the LORD is their place of safety. 7 How I pray that the God who saves Israel will come out of Zion! Then the LORD will bless his people with great success again. So let the people of Jacob be filled with joy! Let Israel be glad!
