Pentru dirijor. De cântat cu instrumente cu coarde. Un psalm al lui Asaf. O cântare.

1 Dumnezeu este cunoscut în Iuda; mare este Numele Lui în Israel! 2 Cortul Său este în Salem*, Locuința Lui se află în Sion. 3 Acolo a sfărâmat săgețile arcului, scutul și sabia de război. Selah 4 Tu ești luminos, mai măreț decât munții încărcați de pradă. 5 Prădați au fost vitejii: au fost cuprinși de un somn adânc. Niciunul dintre luptători n‑a mai avut putere în mâini. 6 La mustrarea Ta, Dumnezeul lui Iacov, călărețul și calul au adormit deopotrivă! 7 Tu ești de temut! Cine poate sta înaintea Ta când ești mânios? 8 Când ai rostit sentința din ceruri, pământul s‑a temut și a amuțit. 9 Da, așa a fost când Te‑ai ridicat să judeci, Dumnezeule, și să aduci izbăvire tuturor sărmanilor pământului. Selah 10 Într-adevăr, furia omului Te va lăuda; Te vei încinge cu rămășița furiilor. 11 Faceți jurăminte DOMNULUI, Dumnezeul vostru, și împliniți‑le! Voi toți cei din preajma Lui, aduceți un dar Celui de temut! 12 El taie avântul conducătorilor și este de temut printre regii pământului.

Who Can Stand Before You?

1 To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song. In Judah God is known; his name is great in Israel. 2 His abode has been established in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion. 3 There he broke the flashing arrows, the shield, the sword, and the weapons of war. 4 Glorious are you, more majestic than the mountains full of prey. 5 The stouthearted were stripped of their spoil; they sank into sleep; all the men of war were unable to use their hands. 6 At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both rider and horse lay stunned. 7 But you, you are to be feared! Who can stand before you when once your anger is roused? 8 From the heavens you uttered judgment; the earth feared and was still, 9 when God arose to establish judgment, to save all the humble of the earth. 10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise you; the remnant* of wrath you will put on like a belt. 11 Make your vows to the Lord your God and perform them; let all around him bring gifts to him who is to be feared, 12 who cuts off the spirit of princes, who is to be feared by the kings of the earth.
