Of David. When he pretended to be insane before Abimelek, who drove him away, and he left.

1 I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. 2 I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. 3 Glorify the Lord with me: let us exalt his name together. 4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. 5 Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. 6 This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. 8 Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. 9 Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. 10 The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. 11 Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. 12 Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, 13 keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies. 14 Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry; 16 but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth. 17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. 18 The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. 19 The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; 20 he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken. 21 Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned. 22 The Lord will rescue his servants; no-one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.

Al lui David. Compus pe vremea când acesta s‑a prefăcut a fi nebun înaintea lui Abimelek și a plecat alungat de acesta.

1 Îl voi lăuda pe DOMNUL în orice vreme, lauda Lui va fi întotdeauna în gura mea!* 2 Sufletul meu se laudă în DOMNUL; să audă și să se bucure cei smeriți! 3 Măriți pe DOMNUL împreună cu mine! Să înălțăm cu toții Numele Lui! 4 Eu L‑am căutat pe DOMNUL, și El mi‑a răspuns; m‑a scăpat de toate temerile mele. 5 Cei care privesc spre El, se luminează, iar fețele lor nu se rușinează. 6 Acest sărac a strigat, iar DOMNUL l‑a auzit și l‑a izbăvit din toate necazurile lui. 7 Îngerul DOMNULUI Își așază tabăra împrejurul celor ce se tem de El, și îi salvează. 8 Gustați și vedeți că DOMNUL este bun! Ferice de omul care se adăpostește în El! 9 Temeți‑vă de DOMNUL, voi sfinții Lui, căci cei ce se tem de El nu duc lipsă de nimic! 10 Puii de leu duc lipsă și flămânzesc, dar cei ce‑L caută pe DOMNUL nu duc lipsă de niciun bine. 11 Veniți, fiilor! Ascultați‑mă! Vă voi învăța teama de DOMNUL! 12 Cine este omul care dorește viața, care iubește zilele și vrea să vadă binele? 13 Păzește‑ți limba de rău, iar buzele tale să nu rostească înșelătoria! 14 Depărtează‑te de rău și fă binele! Caută pacea și urmărește‑o! 15 Ochii DOMNULUI sunt peste cei drepți, iar urechile Lui iau aminte la strigătul lor după ajutor. 16 Fața DOMNULUI este împotriva celor ce săvârșesc răul, ca să le șteargă amintirea de pe pământ. 17 Când cei drepți strigă, DOMNUL aude și‑i scapă din toate necazurile lor. 18 DOMNUL este aproape de cei cu inima zdrobită și‑i izbăvește pe cei cu duhul zdrobit. 19 De multe necazuri are parte cel drept, dar DOMNUL îl scapă din toate. 20 El îi păzește toate oasele și niciunul măcar nu îi va fi rupt. 21 Răul va aduce moartea celui nelegiuit, iar cei ce‑l urăsc pe cel drept vor fi pedepsiți. 22 DOMNUL răscumpără sufletul robilor Săi și niciunul din cei ce se adăpostesc în El nu este pedepsit.
