1But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;2Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.3And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.4For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.5For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.6And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.7Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.8And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.9And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,10And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.11Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.12Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father' sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.13Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant' sake, and for Jerusalem' sake which I have chosen.14And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king' seed in Edom.15For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;16(For six months did Joab remain there with all Israel, until he had cut off every male in Edom:)17That Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father' servants with him, to go into Egypt; Hadad being yet a little child.18And they arose out of Midian, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him an house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.19And Hadad found great favour in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him to wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.20And the sister of Tahpenes bare him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh' house: and Genubath was in Pharaoh' household among the sons of Pharaoh.21And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.22Then Pharaoh said unto him, But what hast thou lacked with me, that, behold, thou seekest to go to thine own country? And he answered, Nothing: howbeit let me go in any wise.23And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:24And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David slew them of Zobah : and they went to Damascus, and dwelt therein, and reigned in Damascus.25And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did : and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.26And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon' servant, whose mother' name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.27And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.28And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.29And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:30And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:31And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:32(But he shall have one tribe for my servant David' sake, and for Jerusalem' sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)33Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.34Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant' sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:35But I will take the kingdom out of his son' hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.36And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.37And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desireth, and shalt be king over Israel.38And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.39And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.40Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.41And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?42And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.43And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

1Aber der König Salomo liebte viele fremde Frauen neben der Tochter des Pharao: moabitische, ammonitische, edomitische, zidonische und hetitische,2aus den Heidenvölkern, von denen der HERR den Kindern Israels gesagt hatte: Geht nicht zu ihnen und lasst sie nicht zu euch kommen, denn sie werden gewiss eure Herzen zu ihren Göttern wenden! An diesen hing Salomo mit Liebe.3Und er hatte 700 fürstliche Frauen und 300 Nebenfrauen*; und seine Frauen verleiteten sein Herz.4Und es geschah zu der Zeit, als Salomo alt geworden war, da wendeten seine Frauen sein Herz anderen Göttern zu, sodass sein Herz nicht mehr ungeteilt mit dem HERRN, seinem Gott, war wie das Herz seines Vaters David.5So lief Salomo der Astarte nach, der Gottheit der Zidonier, und Milkom, dem Gräuel der Ammoniter.6Und Salomo tat, was böse war in den Augen des HERRN, und er folgte dem HERRN nicht völlig nach wie sein Vater David.7Auch baute Salomo eine Höhe für den Kemosch, den Gräuel der Moabiter, auf dem Berg, der östlich von Jerusalem liegt, und für den Moloch, den Gräuel der Ammoniter.8Und ebenso machte er es für alle seine ausländischen Frauen, die ihren Göttern räucherten und opferten.9Da wurde der HERR zornig über Salomo, weil sein Herz sich abgewandt hatte von dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, der ihm zweimal erschienen war,10ja, der ihm gerade wegen dieser Sache das Gebot gegeben hatte, dass er nicht anderen Göttern nachwandeln solle; aber er beachtete nicht, was ihm der HERR geboten hatte.11Darum sprach der HERR zu Salomo: Weil dies von dir geschehen ist und du meinen Bund nicht bewahrt hast, noch meine Satzungen, die ich dir geboten habe, so will ich dir gewiss das Königreich entreißen und es deinem Knecht geben!12Doch zu deiner Zeit will ich es nicht tun, um deines Vaters David willen; der Hand deines Sohnes will ich es entreißen.13Nur will ich ihm nicht das ganze Reich entreißen; einen Stamm will ich deinem Sohn geben, um meines Knechtes David und um Jerusalems willen, das ich erwählt habe!
Der Herr erweckt Salomo Widersacher
14Und der HERR erweckte dem Salomo einen Widersacher, Hadad, den Edomiter, der stammte aus dem Königsgeschlecht von Edom.15Es geschah nämlich, als David in Edom war, und als Joab, der Heerführer, hinaufzog, um die Erschlagenen zu begraben, da erschlug er alles, was männlich war in Edom.16Denn Joab blieb sechs Monate lang dort mit ganz Israel, bis er alles ausgerottet hatte, was in Edom männlich war.17Da floh Hadad und mit ihm etliche Edomiter von den Knechten seines Vaters, um nach Ägypten zu gehen; Hadad aber war noch ein kleiner Knabe.18Und sie machten sich auf von Midian und kamen nach Paran, und sie nahmen Männer mit sich aus Paran und kamen nach Ägypten zum Pharao, dem König von Ägypten; der gab ihm ein Haus, wies ihm Unterhalt an und gab ihm Land.19Und Hadad fand große Gnade beim Pharao, sodass er ihm auch die Schwester seiner Gemahlin, die Schwester der Gebieterin Tachpenes, zur Frau gab.20Und die Schwester der Tachpenes gebar ihm Genubat, seinen Sohn, und Tachpenes zog ihn auf im Haus des Pharao, sodass Genubat im Haus des Pharao unter den Söhnen des Pharao war.21Als nun Hadad in Ägypten hörte, dass David sich zu seinen Vätern gelegt hatte, und dass Joab, der Heerführer, tot war, da sprach Hadad zum Pharao: Lass mich doch in mein Land ziehen!22Und der Pharao sprach zu ihm: Was fehlt dir bei mir, dass du in dein Land ziehen willst? Er sprach: Nichts; aber lass mich doch gehen!23Und Gott erweckte ihm [noch] einen Widersacher, Reson, den Sohn Eljadas, der von seinem Herrn Hadad-Eser, dem König von Zoba, geflohen war.24Der sammelte Männer um sich und war Oberster einer Streifschar, als David [die Zobaiter] schlug; und sie zogen nach Damaskus und wohnten dort und regierten in Damaskus.25Und er wurde zu einem Widersacher Israels, solange Salomo lebte, außer dem Übel, das Hadad anrichtete; und er hatte einen Widerwillen gegen Israel, und er wurde König über Aram.
Jerobeams Auflehnung gegen Salomo. Salomos Tod
26Auch Jerobeam, der Sohn Nebats, ein Ephratiter von Zareda, ein Knecht Salomos, dessen Mutter, eine Witwe, Zeruha hieß, erhob die Hand gegen den König.27Und dies war der Anlass dafür, dass er die Hand gegen den König erhob: Salomo baute den Millo und schloss [damit] eine Lücke an der Stadt Davids, seines Vaters.28Nun war Jerobeam ein tüchtiger Mann; und als Salomo sah, dass der junge Mann eifrig bei der Arbeit war, setzte er ihn über alle Lastträger des Hauses Joseph.29Es geschah aber zu jener Zeit, als Jerobeam aus Jerusalem wegging, da fand ihn der Prophet Achija von Silo auf dem Weg; der hatte ein neues Obergewand an, und sie waren beide allein auf dem Feld.30Und Achija nahm das neue Obergewand, das er anhatte, und zerriss es in zwölf Stücke;31und er sprach zu Jerobeam: Nimm dir zehn Stücke! Denn so spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Siehe, ich will das Königreich der Hand Salomos entreißen und dir die zehn Stämme geben32— einen Stamm aber soll er haben, um meines Knechtes David und um der Stadt Jerusalem willen, die ich aus allen Stämmen Israels erwählt habe —,33deshalb, weil sie mich verlassen haben und Astarte, die Gottheit der Zidonier, Kemosch, den Gott der Moabiter, und Milkom, den Gott der Ammoniter, angebetet haben und nicht in meinen Wegen gewandelt sind, um zu tun, was recht ist in meinen Augen, nach meinen Satzungen und Rechten, wie es sein Vater David getan hat.34Doch will ich nicht das ganze Reich aus seiner Hand nehmen, sondern ich will ihn als Fürst belassen sein Leben lang, um meines Knechtes David willen, den ich erwählt habe, der meine Gebote und Satzungen befolgt hat.35Aber ich will das Königreich aus der Hand seines Sohnes nehmen und es dir geben, die zehn Stämme;36und ich will seinem Sohn einen Stamm geben, damit mein Knecht David allezeit vor mir eine Leuchte hat in der Stadt Jerusalem, die ich mir erwählt habe, um meinen Namen dorthin zu setzen.37So will ich nun dich nehmen, und du sollst regieren über alles, was deine Seele begehrt, und König sein über Israel.38Und es wird geschehen, wenn du nun allem gehorchst, was ich dir gebieten werde, und in meinen Wegen wandelst und tust, was in meinen Augen recht ist, sodass du meine Satzungen und meine Gebote befolgst, wie es mein Knecht David getan hat, so will ich mit dir sein und dir ein beständiges Haus bauen, wie ich es David gebaut habe, und ich will dir Israel geben!39Und ich will den Samen Davids deswegen demütigen, doch nicht für immer.40Salomo aber trachtete danach, Jerobeam zu töten; da machte sich Jerobeam auf und floh nach Ägypten zu Sisak, dem König von Ägypten; und er blieb in Ägypten, bis Salomo starb.41Was aber mehr von Salomo zu sagen ist, und alles, was er getan hat, und seine Weisheit, steht das nicht geschrieben im Buch der Geschichte Salomos?42Die Zeit aber, die Salomo über ganz Israel in Jerusalem regierte, betrug 40 Jahre.43Und Salomo legte sich zu seinen Vätern und wurde begraben in der Stadt Davids, seines Vaters; und Rehabeam, sein Sohn, wurde König an seiner Stelle.
