Psalm 61 | Het Boek

1 Een lied van David voor de koordirigent. Te zingen bij snarenspel.

2 Hoort U mijn smeken wel, o God? Luister toch naar mijn gebed.

3 Vanuit de verste uithoek van het land roep ik U, ik kan niet meer! Wilt U mij naar een plaats brengen waar ik zelf niet kan komen? Een plaats waar ik veilig ben?

4 U hebt mij immers altijd beschermd, bij U schuilde ik altijd tegen de vijand.

5 Laat mij toch altijd in uw huis mogen blijven. Laat mij bij U mogen schuilen, veilig onder uw vleugels.

6 O God, U hebt mijn geloften gehoord, al uw volgelingen ontvangen uw erfenis.

7 Geef de koning een lang leven en laat zijn nageslacht altijd regeren.

8 Geef dat hij U ook altijd trouw zal volgen, laten uw goedheid, liefde en trouw hem altijd beschermen.

9 Dan zal ik voortdurend uw lof zingen en elke dag mijn geloften nakomen.

Lead Me to the Rock

1 To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. Of David. Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer;

2 from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I,

3 for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy.

4 Let me dwell in your tent forever! Let me take refuge under the shelter of your wings!

5 For you, O God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.

6 Prolong the life of the king; may his years endure to all generations!

7 May he be enthroned forever before God; appoint steadfast love and faithfulness to watch over him!

8 So will I ever sing praises to your name, as I perform my vows day after day.
