O Lord, Do Not Delay

1 To the choirmaster. Of David, for the memorial offering. Make haste, O God, to deliver me! O Lord, make haste to help me! 2 Let them be put to shame and confusion who seek my life! Let them be turned back and brought to dishonor who delight in my hurt! 3 Let them turn back because of their shame who say, “Aha, Aha!” 4 May all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you! May those who love your salvation say evermore, “God is great!” 5 But I am poor and needy; hasten to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O Lord, do not delay!

1 Au chef de chœur. De David, comme mémorial. 2 O Dieu, délivre-moi sans tarder! Eternel, viens vite à mon aide! 3 Qu'ils soient honteux et remplis de confusion, ceux qui en veulent à ma vie! Qu'ils reculent et rougissent, ceux qui désirent ma perte! 4 Qu'ils fassent demi-tour, saisis de honte, ceux qui disent: «Ha! ha!» 5 Que tous ceux qui te cherchent soient dans l'allégresse et se réjouissent en toi! Que ceux qui aiment ton salut disent sans cesse: «Que Dieu est grand!» 6 Moi, je suis malheureux et pauvre: ô Dieu, viens vite à mon secours! Tu es mon aide et mon libérateur, Eternel, ne tarde pas!
