Afterward Egypt shall be inhabited as in the days of old, declares the Lord.27“But fear not, O Jacob my servant, nor be dismayed, O Israel, for behold, I will save you from far away, and your offspring from the land of their captivity. Jacob shall return and have quiet and ease, and none shall make him afraid.28Fear not, O Jacob my servant, declares the Lord, for I am with you. I will make a full end of all the nations to which I have driven you, but of you I will not make a full end. I will discipline you in just measure, and I will by no means leave you unpunished.”

1Voici la parole de l'Eternel adressée au prophète Jérémie à propos des nations.2Sur l'Egypte. Sur l'armée du pharaon Néco, roi d'Egypte, qui se trouvait près du fleuve de l'Euphrate, à Karkemish, et à laquelle Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, infligea une défaite la quatrième année du règne de Jojakim, fils de Josias, sur Juda.3Préparez le petit et le grand boucliers et avancez-vous pour le combat!4Attelez les chevaux, que les cavaliers montent à l'assaut!
