1My son, be attentive to my wisdom; incline your ear to my understanding,2that you may keep discretion, and your lips may guard knowledge.3For the lips of a forbidden* woman drip honey, and her speech* is smoother than oil,4but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.5Her feet go down to death; her steps follow the path to* Sheol;6she does not ponder the path of life; her ways wander, and she does not know it.7And now, O sons, listen to me, and do not depart from the words of my mouth.8Keep your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house,9lest you give your honor to others and your years to the merciless,10lest strangers take their fill of your strength, and your labors go to the house of a foreigner,11and at the end of your life you groan, when your flesh and body are consumed,12and you say, “How I hated discipline, and my heart despised reproof!13I did not listen to the voice of my teachers or incline my ear to my instructors.14I am at the brink of utter ruin in the assembled congregation.”15Drink water from your own cistern, flowing water from your own well.16Should your springs be scattered abroad, streams of water in the streets?17Let them be for yourself alone, and not for strangers with you.18Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth,19a lovely deer, a graceful doe. 1ای پسرم، به سخنان حكيمانهٔ من گوش كن و به بصيرت من توجه نما.2آنگاه خواهی دانست چگونه درست رفتار كنی، و سخنان تو نشان خواهد داد كه از دانايی برخوردار هستی.3زن بدكاره چرب زبان است و سخنان او مانند عسل شيرين میباشد؛4ولی عاقبت جز تلخی و درد چيزی برای تو باقی نمیگذارد.5زن بدكاره تو را به سوی مرگ و جهنم میكشاند،6زيرا او از راه زندگی منحرف شده و سرگردان است و نمیداند به كجا میرود.7ای جوانان، به من گوش دهيد و آنچه را كه میخواهم به شما بگويم هرگز فراموش نكنيد:8از چنين زنی دوری كنيد. حتی به در خانهاش هم نزديک نشويد،9مبادا در دام وسوسههايش گرفتار شويد و حيثيت خود را از دست بدهيد و بقيه عمر خويش را صرف كسی كنيد كه رحم و شفقت ندارد.10مبادا غريبهها اموال شما را تصاحب نمايند و ثمرهٔ زحمت شما از آن ديگران شود،11و عاقبت بيمار شده، از شدت درماندگی بناليد12و بگوييد: «كاش كه گوش میدادم! كاش كه تسليم هوی و هوسهايم نمیشدم!13چرا به نصايح معلمانم گوش ندادم؟ چرا به سخنان ايشان توجه نكردم؟14اكنون بايد پيش همه رسوا و سرافكنده باشم.»15پسرم، نسبت به همسر خود وفادار باش و تنها نسبت به او عشق بورز.16چرا بايد از زنان هرزهٔ خيابانی صاحب بچه شوی؟17فرزندان تو بايد تنها مال خودت باشند و نبايد غريبهها در آنان سهمی داشته باشند.18پس با زنت خوش باش و از همسر خود كه در ايام جوانی با او ازدواج كردهای لذت ببر.19دلبريها و آغوش او تو را كافی باشد، و قلب تو فقط از عشق او سرشار گردد.20چرا بايد به زن بدكاره دل ببندی و زنی را كه به تو تعلق ندارد در آغوش بگيری؟21خداوند به دقت تو را زير نظر دارد و هر كاری را كه انجام میدهی میسنجد.22گناهان شخص بدكار مانند ريسمان به دورش میپيچد و او را گرفتار میسازد.23بلهوسی او باعث مرگش خواهد شد و حماقتش او را به نابودی خواهد كشاند.
