My Rock and My Fortress

1 Of David. Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle; (Ps 18:2; Ps 18:31; Ps 18:34; Ps 18:46) 2 he is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield and he in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples[1] under me. (Ps 7:10; Ps 18:2; Ps 18:47; Ps 59:9; Ps 59:10; Ps 59:17; Ps 91:2; Jon 2:8) 3 O Lord, what is man that you regard him, or the son of man that you think of him? (Ps 8:4; Ps 31:7) 4 Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow. (Job 8:9; Ps 39:5; Ps 102:11; Ps 109:23) 5 Bow your heavens, O Lord, and come down! Touch the mountains so that they smoke! (Ps 18:9; Ps 104:32; Isa 64:1) 6 Flash forth the lightning and scatter them; send out your arrows and rout them! (Ps 18:14) 7 Stretch out your hand from on high; rescue me and deliver me from the many waters, from the hand of foreigners, (Ps 18:16; Ps 18:44; Ps 69:14) 8 whose mouths speak lies and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood. (Ge 14:22; De 32:40; Ps 12:2; Ps 41:6; Ps 106:26; Isa 62:8) 9 I will sing a new song to you, O God; upon a ten-stringed harp I will play to you, (Ps 33:2) 10 who gives victory to kings, who rescues David his servant from the cruel sword. (Ps 18:50) 11 Rescue me and deliver me from the hand of foreigners, whose mouths speak lies and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood. (Ps 144:7; Ps 144:8) 12 May our sons in their youth be like plants full grown, our daughters like corner pillars cut for the structure of a palace; (Ps 128:3; Zec 9:15) 13 may our granaries be full, providing all kinds of produce; may our sheep bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields; (Isa 30:23; Joe 2:24) 14 may our cattle be heavy with young, suffering no mishap or failure in bearing;[2] may there be no cry of distress in our streets! (Isa 24:11; Jer 14:2; Jer 46:12) 15 Blessed are the people to whom such blessings fall! Blessed are the people whose God is the Lord! (De 33:29; Ps 33:12; Ps 146:5)
