Psalm 96

New International Version

from Biblica
1 Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. 3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvellous deeds among all peoples. 4 For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. 5 For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. 6 Splendour and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary. 7 Ascribe to the Lord, all you families of nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. 8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to his name; bring an offering and come into his courts. 9 Worship the Lord in the splendour of his[1] holiness; tremble before him, all the earth. 10 Say among the nations, ‘The Lord reigns.’ The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved; he will judge the peoples with equity. 11 Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. 12 Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy. 13 Let all creation rejoice before the Lord, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness.

English Standard Version

from Crossway

Worship in the Splendor of Holiness

1 Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth! (1Ch 16:23; Ps 33:3; Ps 98:1) 2 Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. (Isa 52:7; Isa 60:6) 3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! 4 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods. (Ps 18:3; Ps 48:1; Ps 95:3) 5 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the Lord made the heavens. (Ps 115:15; Isa 42:5; Isa 44:24; Jer 10:12) 6 Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. (Ps 78:61) 7 Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength! (Ps 22:27; Ps 29:1) 8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts! (Ps 29:2; Ps 45:12; Ps 68:29; Ps 72:10; Ps 100:4) 9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;[1] tremble before him, all the earth! (Ps 29:2; Ps 114:7) 10 Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns! Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved; he will judge the peoples with equity.” (Ps 9:8; Ps 58:11; Ps 93:1; Ps 96:13) 11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; (Ps 69:34; Ps 97:1; Ps 98:7) 12 let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy (Isa 35:1; Isa 55:12) 13 before the Lord, for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness, and the peoples in his faithfulness. (Isa 11:1)
