Psalm 65

New International Version

from Biblica

For the director of music. A psalm of David. A song.

1 Praise awaits[1] you, our God, in Zion; to you our vows will be fulfilled. 2 You who answer prayer, to you all people will come. 3 When we were overwhelmed by sins, you forgave[2] our transgressions. 4 Blessed are those you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple. 5 You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds, God our Saviour, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas, 6 who formed the mountains by your power, having armed yourself with strength, 7 who stilled the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, and the turmoil of the nations. 8 The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy. 9 You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with corn, for so you have ordained it.[3] 10 You drench its furrows and level its ridges; you soften it with showers and bless its crops. 11 You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance. 12 The grasslands of the wilderness overflow; the hills are clothed with gladness. 13 The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with corn; they shout for joy and sing.

Psalm 65

English Standard Version

from Crossway

O God of Our Salvation

1 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. A Song. Praise is due to you,[1] O God, in Zion, and to you shall vows be performed. (Ps 50:14; Ps 62:1) 2 O you who hear prayer, to you shall all flesh come. (2Ki 19:20; Ps 86:9) 3 When iniquities prevail against me, you atone for our transgressions. (Ps 38:4; Ps 51:2; Ps 79:9; Isa 6:7) 4 Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple! (Ps 16:11; Ps 27:4; Ps 33:12; Ps 84:4) 5 By awesome deeds you answer us with righteousness, O God of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas; (De 10:21; 2Sa 7:23; Ps 22:27; Ps 45:4; Ps 106:22; Re 15:3) 6 the one who by his strength established the mountains, being girded with might; (Ps 93:1) 7 who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples, (Ps 74:23; Ps 89:9; Ps 93:3; Ps 107:29; Isa 17:12; Jer 5:22; Mt 8:26) 8 so that those who dwell at the ends of the earth are in awe at your signs. You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy. 9 You visit the earth and water it;[2] you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; you provide their grain, for so you have prepared it. (Le 26:4; Job 5:10; Ps 46:4; Ps 68:9; Ps 72:6; Ps 147:14) 10 You water its furrows abundantly, settling its ridges, softening it with showers, and blessing its growth. (De 32:2) 11 You crown the year with your bounty; your wagon tracks overflow with abundance. (Job 36:28) 12 The pastures of the wilderness overflow, the hills gird themselves with joy, (Job 38:26; Isa 55:12; Joe 2:22) 13 the meadows clothe themselves with flocks, the valleys deck themselves with grain, they shout and sing together for joy. (Ps 98:8; Isa 30:23; Isa 44:23)
