Psalm 13

New International Version

from Biblica

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

1 How long, Lord? Will you forget me for ever? How long will you hide your face from me? 2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? 3 Look on me and answer, Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death, 4 and my enemy will say, ‘I have overcome him,’ and my foes will rejoice when I fall. 5 But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. 6 I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me.

Psalm 13

English Standard Version

from Crossway

How Long, O Lord?

1 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? (Job 13:24; Ps 10:12; Ps 44:24; Ps 74:19; Ps 74:23; Ps 79:5; Ps 89:46; La 5:20; Re 6:10) 2 How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me? (Ps 77:6) 3 Consider and answer me, O Lord my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death, (1Sa 14:27; Ezr 9:8; Ps 5:1; Ps 19:8; Ps 119:153; Pr 29:13; Jer 51:39; Eph 1:18) 4 lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,” lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken. (De 32:27; Ps 10:6) 5 But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. (Ps 9:14; Ps 11:1) 6 I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me.
