Ezekiel 25

New International Version

from Biblica

A prophecy against Ammon

1 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 ‘Son of man, set your face against the Ammonites and prophesy against them. 3 Say to them, “Hear the word of the Sovereign Lord. This is what the Sovereign Lord says: because you said ‘Aha!’ over my sanctuary when it was desecrated and over the land of Israel when it was laid waste and over the people of Judah when they went into exile, 4 therefore I am going to give you to the people of the East as a possession. They will set up their camps and pitch their tents among you; they will eat your fruit and drink your milk. 5 I will turn Rabbah into a pasture for camels and Ammon into a resting-place for sheep. Then you will know that I am the Lord. 6 For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: because you have clapped your hands and stamped your feet, rejoicing with all the malice of your heart against the land of Israel, 7 therefore I will stretch out my hand against you and give you as plunder to the nations. I will wipe you out from among the nations and exterminate you from the countries. I will destroy you, and you will know that I am the Lord.” ’

A prophecy against Moab

8 ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “Because Moab and Seir said, ‘Look, Judah has become like all the other nations,’ 9 therefore I will expose the flank of Moab, beginning at its frontier towns – Beth Jeshimoth, Baal Meon and Kiriathaim – the glory of that land. 10 I will give Moab along with the Ammonites to the people of the East as a possession, so that the Ammonites will not be remembered among the nations; 11 and I will inflict punishment on Moab. Then they will know that I am the Lord.” ’

A prophecy against Edom

12 ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “Because Edom took revenge on Judah and became very guilty by doing so, 13 therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will stretch out my hand against Edom and kill both man and beast. I will lay it waste, and from Teman to Dedan they will fall by the sword. 14 I will take vengeance on Edom by the hand of my people Israel, and they will deal with Edom in accordance with my anger and my wrath; they will know my vengeance, declares the Sovereign Lord.” ’

A prophecy against Philistia

15 ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “Because the Philistines acted in vengeance and took revenge with malice in their hearts, and with ancient hostility sought to destroy Judah, 16 therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am about to stretch out my hand against the Philistines, and I will wipe out the Kerethites and destroy those remaining along the coast. 17 I will carry out great vengeance on them and punish them in my wrath. Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I take vengeance on them.” ’

Prophecy Against Ammon

1 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “Son of man, set your face toward the Ammonites and prophesy against them. (Jer 49:1; Eze 2:1; Eze 6:2; Eze 21:20; Eze 21:28) 3 Say to the Ammonites, Hear the word of the Lord God: Thus says the Lord God, Because you said, ‘Aha!’ over my sanctuary when it was profaned, and over the land of Israel when it was made desolate, and over the house of Judah when they went into exile, (Eze 2:4; Eze 3:11; Eze 3:27; Eze 7:22; Eze 26:2; Eze 36:2) 4 therefore behold, I am handing you over to the people of the East for a possession, and they shall set their encampments among you and make their dwellings in your midst. They shall eat your fruit, and they shall drink your milk. (Jud 6:3) 5 I will make Rabbah a pasture for camels and Ammon[1] a fold for flocks. Then you will know that I am the Lord. (2Sa 11:1; 2Sa 12:26; Eze 21:20; Eze 24:27; Zep 2:15) 6 For thus says the Lord God: Because you have clapped your hands and stamped your feet and rejoiced with all the malice within your soul against the land of Israel, (Ps 98:8; Isa 55:12; Eze 6:11; Eze 25:15; Eze 36:5; Zep 2:8; Zep 2:10) 7 therefore, behold, I have stretched out my hand against you, and will hand you over as plunder to the nations. And I will cut you off from the peoples and will make you perish out of the countries; I will destroy you. Then you will know that I am the Lord. (Eze 6:14; Eze 7:21; Eze 25:4)

Prophecy Against Moab and Seir

8 “Thus says the Lord God: Because Moab and Seir[2] said, ‘Behold, the house of Judah is like all the other nations,’ (Isa 15:1; Jer 25:17; Jer 48:1; Eze 25:12) 9 therefore I will lay open the flank of Moab from the cities, from its cities on its frontier, the glory of the country, Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon, and Kiriathaim. (Jos 12:3; 1Ch 5:8; Jer 48:1; Eze 25:8) 10 I will give it along with the Ammonites to the people of the East as a possession, that the Ammonites may be remembered no more among the nations, (Eze 21:32; Eze 25:2; Eze 25:4) 11 and I will execute judgments upon Moab. Then they will know that I am the Lord. (Eze 6:7; Eze 25:8)

Prophecy Against Edom

12 “Thus says the Lord God: Because Edom acted revengefully against the house of Judah and has grievously offended in taking vengeance on them, (2Ch 28:17; Ps 137:7; Isa 21:11; Isa 34:5; Jer 49:7; Eze 25:8; Eze 25:15; Eze 32:29; Eze 35:2; Eze 35:5; Am 1:11; Ob 1:1) 13 therefore thus says the Lord God, I will stretch out my hand against Edom and cut off from it man and beast. And I will make it desolate; from Teman even to Dedan they shall fall by the sword. (1Ch 1:45; Isa 21:13; Eze 6:14; Eze 27:15; Eze 27:20; Eze 38:13; Am 1:12) 14 And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel, and they shall do in Edom according to my anger and according to my wrath, and they shall know my vengeance, declares the Lord God. (Eze 25:17; Am 9:12; Ob 1:18)

Prophecy Against Philistia

15 “Thus says the Lord God: Because the Philistines acted revengefully and took vengeance with malice of soul to destroy in never-ending enmity, (Isa 14:29; Jer 25:20; Jer 47:1; Eze 25:6; Eze 25:12; Eze 36:5; Joe 3:4; Am 1:6; Zep 2:4) 16 therefore thus says the Lord God, Behold, I will stretch out my hand against the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethites and destroy the rest of the seacoast. (1Sa 30:14; Eze 25:13) 17 I will execute great vengeance on them with wrathful rebukes. Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I lay my vengeance upon them.” (Eze 5:15; Eze 25:14)
