The King Rejoices in the Lord’s Strength
1To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. O Lord, in your strength the king rejoices, and in your salvation how greatly he exults! (Ps 8:2; Ps 9:14; Ps 28:7)2You have given him his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. (2Sa 12:30; 1Ch 20:2; Ps 19:10; Ps 59:10)4He asked life of you; you gave it to him, length of days forever and ever. (2Sa 7:19; 1Ki 1:31; Ne 2:3; Ps 61:6; Ps 91:16)5His glory is great through your salvation; splendor and majesty you bestow on him. (Ps 8:5; Ps 45:3; Ps 96:6)6For you make him most blessed forever; you make him glad with the joy of your presence. (Ps 16:11; Ps 45:7)7For the king trusts in the Lord, and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved. (Ps 10:6; Ps 16:8)8Your hand will find out all your enemies; your right hand will find out those who hate you. (Isa 10:10)9You will make them as a blazing oven when you appear. The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath, and fire will consume them.
