Die Bundeslade bekommt ihren Platz im Tempel

1 Danach ließ Salomo die führenden Männer Israels sowie die Oberhäupter aller Stämme und Sippen^[1] zu sich nach Jerusalem kommen. Sie sollten die Bundeslade des HERRN von der Davidsstadt – dem Teil Jerusalems, der auf dem Berg Zion liegt – in den Tempel bringen. 2 Auch alle anderen Männer aus dem Volk versammelten sich deshalb bei König Salomo ´in Jerusalem` zum Laubhüttenfest^[2], das im Monat Etanim, dem siebten Monat des Jahres, gefeiert wurde. 3 Als alle führenden Männer versammelt waren, hoben die Priester die Bundeslade auf ihre Schultern 4 und trugen sie hinauf zum Tempel. Gemeinsam mit den Leviten brachten sie auch das Zelt der Begegnung mit allen seinen geweihten Gegenständen dorthin. 5 König Salomo und die ganze Gemeinschaft der Israeliten, die sich bei ihm eingefunden hatte, opferten vor der Lade so viele Schafe, Ziegen und Rinder, dass man sie nicht mehr zählen konnte. 6 Dann brachten die Priester die Bundeslade an den vorgesehenen Platz im hinteren Raum des Tempels, dem Allerheiligsten. Sie stellten sie unter die Flügel der beiden ´großen` Kerub–Engel.^[3] (1Kön 6,23) 7 So breiteten die Kerub-Engel ihre Flügel über der Lade aus und beschirmten die Lade samt ihren Tragestangen. 8 Die Stangen waren so lang, dass man ihre Enden vom Heiligtum aus sehen konnte, wenn man direkt vor dem Allerheiligsten stand. Vom Rest des Heiligtums aus^[4] sah man sie nicht. Noch heute befindet sich die Bundeslade an diesem Ort. 9 In der Lade waren nur die beiden Steintafeln, die Mose am Berg Horeb hineingelegt hatte, als der HERR mit den Israeliten nach ihrem Auszug aus Ägypten einen Bund schloss. 10 Als die Priester den Tempel wieder verließen, erfüllte eine Wolke das Haus des HERRN. 11 Die Priester konnten wegen der Wolke ihren Dienst im Tempel nicht fortsetzen, denn die herrliche Gegenwart des HERRN^[5] durchflutete das ganze Heiligtum. 12 Dann betete Salomo: »HERR, du hast gesagt, dass du im Wolkendunkel wohnen willst.^[6] 13 Nun habe ich dir ein prachtvolles Haus gebaut. Möge diese Stätte für immer deine Wohnung sein^[7].«

Salomos Worte zur Einweihung des Tempels

14 Dann drehte der König sich um und segnete die ganze Gemeinschaft der Israeliten, die sich ´vor dem Tempel` aufgestellt hatte. 15 Er sagte: »Gepriesen sei der HERR, der Gott Israels! Er hat wahr gemacht, was er meinem Vater David versprochen hat.^[8] Damals sagte er: 16 ›Seit ich mein Volk Israel aus Ägypten führte, habe ich in keinem der Stämme Israels eine Stadt auserwählt, damit man dort einen Tempel für mich baut^[9]. Aber dich habe ich erwählt als König über mein Volk.‹ 17 Der Herzenswunsch meines Vaters David war es, dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, einen Tempel zu bauen. 18 Der HERR sagte zu ihm: ›Dein Wunsch, ein Haus für mich zu bauen, gefällt mir. 19 Aber nicht du wirst dieses Haus bauen, sondern dein Sohn^[10].‹ 20 Dieses Versprechen hat der HERR ´jetzt` erfüllt: Ich bin an die Stelle meines Vaters getreten und habe Israels Thron bestiegen, wie der HERR gesagt hat. Und nun habe ich den Tempel für den HERRN, den Gott Israels, gebaut. 21 Darin habe ich einen Raum für die Lade geschaffen, in der ´die Gesetzestafeln` liegen. Sie sind das Wahrzeichen des Bundes, den der HERR mit unseren Vorfahren geschlossen hat^[11], als er sie aus Ägypten führte.«

Salomos Gebet zur Einweihung des Tempels

22 Dann trat Salomo vor der ganzen Gemeinschaft der Israeliten an den Altar des HERRN, breitete seine Hände zum Himmel aus 23 und betete: »HERR, du Gott Israels! Es gibt keinen Gott wie dich – weder im Himmel noch auf der Erde. Du stehst zu deinem Bund und erweist allen deine Liebe, die dir mit ungeteiltem Herzen dienen. 24 Du hast das Versprechen gehalten, das du meinem Vater David gegeben hast. Was du ihm damals gesagt hast, das hast du heute erfüllt. 25 HERR, du Gott Israels, bitte halte auch das ´andere` Versprechen, das du meinem Vater David gegeben hast. Du hast zu ihm gesagt: ›Immer wird einer deiner Nachkommen auf Israels Königsthron sitzen, wenn sie darauf achten, mir genauso treu zu dienen wie du.‹ 26 Du Gott Israels, lass alles in Erfüllung gehen, was du meinem Vater David, deinem Diener, versprochen hast! 27 Aber kann es wirklich sein, dass du, Gott, auf der Erde^[12] wohnst? Selbst der Himmel in seiner unendlichen Weite kann^[13] dich nicht fassen – geschweige denn dieser Tempel, den ich gebaut habe. (2Chr 6,18) 28 Bitte achte dennoch auf mein Gebet und mein Flehen, HERR, mein Gott! Erhöre mich, wenn ich heute zu dir rufe. 29 Richte deinen Blick Tag und Nacht auf diesen Tempel, von dem du gesagt hast: ›Hier ist der Ort meiner Gegenwart.‹^[14] Nimm das Gebet an, das ich von hier aus an dich richte. 30 Erhöre meine inständigen Bitten und auch die deines Volkes, wenn wir zu dieser Stätte gewandt^[15] zu dir rufen. Hör uns in deiner himmlischen Wohnung; ja, erhör uns und vergib uns! 31 Angenommen, jemand wird beschuldigt, seinem Mitmenschen ein Unrecht zugefügt zu haben. Er wird hierher gebracht und soll schwören, dass er unschuldig ist.^[16] Wenn der Beschuldigte vor deinen Altar tritt und den Eid leistet, 32 dann hör im Himmel, was er sagt. Greif ein und sorge für Recht: Wenn er schuldig ist, dann entlarve ihn und lass ihn die Folgen seiner Taten zu spüren bekommen. Wenn er aber unschuldig ist, dann sprich ihn frei und verschaff ihm Gerechtigkeit. 33 Wenn dein Volk Israel von seinen Feinden besiegt wird, weil es gegen dich gesündigt hat: Wenn es dann wieder zu dir umkehrt, sich zu dir als seinem Gott bekennt und dich hier in diesem Tempel um Hilfe anfleht, 34 dann hör es im Himmel. Vergib deinem Volk seine Schuld und bring es wieder zurück in dieses Land^[17], das du seinen Vorfahren gegeben hast. 35 Wenn der Himmel verschlossen bleibt und kein Regen auf das Land fällt, weil seine Bewohner gegen dich gesündigt haben: Wenn sie dann zu dieser Stätte gewandt beten, dich wieder loben und von ihren falschen Wegen umkehren, weil deine strafende Hand sie zur Einsicht gebracht hat^[18], 36 dann hör es im Himmel. Vergib deinem Volk Israel seine Schuld.^[19] Zeig ihnen, wie sie nach deinem Willen leben können^[20]. Lass es wieder regnen auf dein Land, das du deinem Volk als bleibenden Besitz gegeben hast. 37 Wenn eine Hungersnot im Land herrscht oder eine Seuche ausbricht, wenn das Getreide durch Getreidebrand oder Mehltau, durch Heuschrecken oder andere Schädlinge vernichtet wird, wenn ein Feind die Städte belagert – wenn also das Land von Not oder Krankheit heimgesucht wird –, 38 dann höre jedes Gebet und jedes Flehen, sei es von einem einzelnen Menschen oder von deinem ganzen Volk Israel. Streckt jemand in der Not seines Herzens die Arme im Gebet zu dieser Stätte hin aus, 39 dann hör ihn in deiner himmlischen Wohnung. Vergib ihm und greif ein! Gib jedem, was er für seine Taten verdient, denn du kennst ihn genau. Du allein siehst allen Menschen ins Herz. 40 So werden die Israeliten stets in Ehrfurcht vor dir leben, solange sie in dem Land wohnen, das du unseren Vorfahren gegeben hast. 41 ´Beachte` auch die Ausländer, die nicht Mitglied deines Volkes sind, aber aus einem fernen Land kommen, weil sie von dir gehört haben^[21]. 42 Denn sie werden ´von weither` kommen, weil sie von deinem Ruhm und von den Taten erfahren, die du mit starker Hand und mit ausgestrecktem Arm vollbracht hast. Wenn also ein Ausländer kommt und in Richtung dieser Stätte zu dir betet, 43 dann hör ihn in deiner himmlischen Wohnung und erfüll alle seine Bitten! So werden alle Völker der Erde erkennen, wer du bist^[22], und dir mit Ehrfurcht begegnen, wie dein Volk Israel es tut. Sie werden erkennen, dass du dir diesen Tempel, den ich gebaut habe, zur Wohnung genommen hast^[23]. 44 Wenn dein Volk in deinem Auftrag^[24] gegen seine Feinde in den Kampf zieht: Wenn sie dann zu dir beten und dabei den Blick zu der Stadt richten, die du erwählt hast, und zu dem Tempel, den ich für dich gebaut habe, 45 dann hör ihr flehendes Gebet im Himmel und verschaff ihnen Recht! 46 Wenn sie aber gegen dich sündigen – es gibt ja keinen Menschen, der nicht sündigt – und du zornig wirst und sie ihren Feinden auslieferst, die sie in ein fremdes Land verschleppen, in der Nähe oder in der Ferne; 47 wenn sie dort zur Einsicht kommen, sich dir wieder zuwenden und bekennen: ›Wir haben Schuld auf uns geladen, wir haben Unrecht getan und gottlos gehandelt‹; 48 wenn sie sich dir im Land ihrer Gefangenschaft von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele zuwenden und ihren Blick zu dem Land richten, das du ihren Vorfahren gegeben hast, zu der Stadt, die du erwählt hast, und zu dem Tempel, den ich für dich gebaut habe, 49 dann hör ihr flehendes Gebet in deiner himmlischen Wohnung und verschaff ihnen Recht! 50 Vergib deinem Volk alles, was sie gegen dich getan haben und worin sie dir untreu geworden sind. Sorge dafür, dass ihre Unterdrücker Erbarmen mit ihnen haben! 51 Sie sind doch dein Volk und dein Eigentum. Du hast sie aus Ägypten herausgeholt wie aus einem glühenden Schmelzofen. 52 Blicke freundlich auf mich und auf dein ganzes Volk! Erhör uns, wann immer wir zu dir rufen. 53 Denn du hast die Israeliten aus allen Völkern der Erde als dein Eigentum erwählt. So hast du es ´ihnen` schon durch deinen Diener Mose sagen lassen, als du unsere Vorfahren aus Ägypten herausgeführt hast, HERR, du allmächtiger Gott.«

Salomo segnet das Volk

54 Als Salomo sein Gebet beendet und alle seine Bitten vor den HERRN gebracht hatte, stand er auf. Er hatte nämlich beim Beten vor dem Altar des HERRN gekniet und seine Arme zum Himmel ausgebreitet. 55 Er trat vor die Gemeinschaft der Israeliten, segnete sie und rief laut: 56 »Gepriesen sei der HERR! Er hat seinem Volk Israel ein Land geschenkt, wo es in Ruhe und Frieden leben kann^[25]. So hatte er es versprochen. Keine einzige Zusage ist unerfüllt geblieben, die er ´uns` durch seinen Diener Mose gab. 57 Der HERR, unser Gott, stehe uns bei, so wie er schon unseren Vorfahren beigestanden hat. Nie möge er uns verlassen oder verstoßen. 58 Er schenke uns ein Herz, das auf ihn gerichtet ist, damit wir seinen Willen tun^[26] und nach seinen Geboten, Ordnungen und Rechtsbestimmungen leben, die er unseren Vorfahren gegeben hat. 59 Möge der HERR, unser Gott, sich Tag und Nacht an diese Worte erinnern, mit denen ich ihn um Gnade gebeten habe. Er möge mir, seinem Diener, und seinem Volk Israel Recht verschaffen an jedem Tag, so wie es nötig ist. 60 Dann werden alle Völker der Welt erkennen: Der HERR allein ist Gott. Es gibt keinen außer ihm. 61 Ihr aber sollt mit ungeteiltem Herzen beim HERRN, eurem Gott, bleiben. Lebt nach seinen Ordnungen und haltet seine Gebote, so wie ihr es heute tut.«

Zur Einweihung des Tempels werden ein Opferfest und das Laubhüttenfest gefeiert

62 Dann feierten der König und ganz Israel ein Opfermahl zu Ehren des HERRN. 63 Zur Einweihung des Tempels ließ Salomo 22.000 Rinder und 120.000 Schafe und Ziegen als Gemeinschaftsopfer schlachten. 64 Für diesen Anlass^[27] weihte Salomo den gesamten inneren Bereich des Tempelvorhofs ´als Opferstätte` und ließ dort die Brandopfer, die Speiseopfer sowie das Fett der Gemeinschaftsopfer verbrennen. Denn der bronzene Altar, der vor dem Tempel^[28] stand, war viel zu klein für die große Menge der Opfer. 65 Danach feierten Salomo und die Israeliten das Laubhüttenfest^[29] vor dem HERRN, ihrem Gott. Eine gewaltige Menschenmenge war ´aus dem ganzen Land` zusammengekommen, von Lebo-Hamat ´im äußersten Norden` bis zu dem Bachtal ´an der Grenze zu` Ägypten. Das ´gesamte` Fest dauerte vierzehn Tage: sieben Tage ´feierte man die Einweihung des Tempels` und weitere sieben Tage ´das Laubhüttenfest`. 66 Am Tag nach dem Laubhüttenfest^[30] entließ^[31] Salomo das Volk. Die Menschen riefen ihrem König Segenswünsche zu^[32] und kehrten nach Hause zurück. Sie waren voll Freude und Dankbarkeit, weil der HERR seinem Diener David und seinem Volk Israel so viel Gutes erwiesen hatte.

1 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion. 2 And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month. 3 And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark. 4 And they brought up the ark of the LORD, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, even those did the priests and the Levites bring up. 5 And king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel, that were assembled unto him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be told nor numbered for multitude. 6 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims. 7 For the cherubims spread forth their two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above. 8 And they drew out the staves, that the ends of the staves were seen out in the holy place before the oracle, and they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day. 9 There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt. 10 And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place , that the cloud filled the house of the LORD, 11 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD. 12 Then spake Solomon, The LORD said that he would dwell in the thick darkness. 13 I have surely built thee an house to dwell in, a settled place for thee to abide in for ever. 14 And the king turned his face about, and blessed all the congregation of Israel: (and all the congregation of Israel stood;) 15 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which spake with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it , saying, 16 Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build an house, that my name might be therein; and that they may know that this house, which I have builded, is called by thy name. 44 If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, whithersoever thou shalt send them, and shall pray unto the LORD toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house that I have built for thy name: 45 Then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause. 46 If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near; 47 Yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they were carried captives, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the land of them that carried them captives, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness; 48 And so return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name: 49 Then hear thou their prayer and their supplication in heaven thy dwelling place, and maintain their cause, 50 And forgive thy people that have sinned against thee, and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against thee, and give them compassion before them who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them: 51 For they be thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron: 52 That thine eyes may be open unto the supplication of thy servant, and unto the supplication of thy people Israel, to hearken unto them in all that they call for unto thee. 53 For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord GOD. 54 And it was so , that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication unto the LORD, he arose from before the altar of the LORD, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven. 55 And he stood, and blessed all the congregation of Israel with a loud voice, saying, 56 Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant. 57 The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us: 58 That he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers. 59 And let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before the LORD, be nigh unto the LORD our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as the matter shall require: 60 That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else. 61 Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day. 62 And the king, and all Israel with him, offered sacrifice before the LORD. 63 And Solomon offered a sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered unto the LORD, two and twenty thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of the LORD. 64 The same day did the king hallow the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD: for there he offered burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings: because the brasen altar that was before the LORD was too little to receive the burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings. 65 And at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days. 66 On the eighth day he sent the people away: and they blessed the king, and went unto their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the LORD had done for David his servant, and for Israel his people.
