Psalm 122

English Standard Version

A Song of Ascents. Of David. I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!” (Ps 120:1; Isa 2:3; Mic 4:2; Zec 8:21) Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem! Jerusalem—built as a city that is bound firmly together, (Ne 4:6; Ps 147:2) to which the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, as was decreed for[1] Israel, to give thanks to the name of the Lord. (De 16:16; Ps 78:5) There thrones for judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David. (De 17:8; 2Sa 15:2; 1Ki 3:16; 1Ki 7:7; 2Ch 19:8) Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you! (Ps 51:18; Jer 29:7) Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!” (Ps 48:13) For my brothers and companions’ sake I will say, “Peace be within you!” (1Sa 25:6; Ps 85:8) For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good. (Ne 2:10; Es 10:3)
