Matthäus 16

Jesus is asked for a sign

1 The Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus. They asked him to show them a sign from heaven. 2 He replied, ‘In the evening you look at the sky. You say, “It will be good weather. The sky is red.” 3 And in the morning you say, “Today it will be stormy. The sky is red and cloudy.” You know the meaning of what you see in the sky. But you can’t understand the signs of what is happening right now. 4 An evil and unfaithful people look for a sign. But none will be given to them except the sign of Jonah.’ Then Jesus left them and went away.

Markus 8

10 he got into a boat with his disciples. He went to the area of Dalmanutha. 11 The Pharisees came and began to ask Jesus questions. They wanted to test him. So they asked him for a sign from heaven. 12 He sighed deeply. He said, ‘Why do you people ask for a sign? What I’m about to tell you is true. No sign will be given to you.’ 13 Then he left them. He got back into the boat and crossed to the other side of the lake.
