1Es wird aber geschehen, wenn du der Stimme des HERRN, deines Gottes, wirklich gehorchst und darauf achtest, alle seine Gebote zu tun, die ich dir heute gebiete, dann wird dich der HERR, dein Gott, als höchstes über alle Völker der Erde setzen.2Und alle diese Segnungen werden über dich kommen und dich erreichen, wenn du der Stimme des HERRN, deines Gottes, gehorchst:3Gesegnet wirst du sein in der Stadt und gesegnet auf dem Feld.4Gesegnet wird sein die Frucht deines Leibes und die Frucht deines Landes, die Frucht deines Viehs, der Wurf deiner Rinder und die Zucht deiner Schafe.5Gesegnet wird sein dein Korb und dein Backtrog.6Gesegnet wirst du sein bei deinem Eingang und gesegnet bei deinem Ausgang.7Der HERR wird deine Feinde, die sich gegen dich auflehnen, vor dir geschlagen dahingeben; auf einem Weg werden sie gegen dich ausziehen und auf sieben Wegen vor dir fliehen.8Der HERR wird dem Segen gebieten, dass er mit dir sei in deinen Scheunen und in allem, was du unternimmst, und er wird dich segnen in dem Land, das dir der HERR, dein Gott, gibt.9Der HERR wird dich als heiliges Volk für sich bestätigen, wie er dir geschworen hat, wenn du die Gebote des HERRN, deines Gottes, hältst und in seinen Wegen wandelst;10dann werden alle Völker auf Erden sehen, dass der Name des HERRN über dir ausgerufen ist, und werden sich vor dir fürchten.11Und der HERR wird dir Überfluss geben an Gütern, an der Frucht deines Leibes, an der Frucht deines Viehs und an der Frucht deines Ackers, in dem Land, von dem der HERR deinen Vätern geschworen hat, dass er es dir gebe.12Der HERR wird dir den Himmel, seinen guten Schatz, auftun, um deinem Land Regen zu geben zu seiner Zeit, und um alle Werke deiner Hände zu segnen. Und du wirst vielen Völkern leihen; du aber wirst dir nichts ausleihen müssen.13Und der HERR wird dich zum Haupt setzen und nicht zum Schwanz; und es wird mit dir immer nur aufwärtsgehen und nicht abwärts, wenn du den Geboten des HERRN, deines Gottes, gehorchst, die ich dir heute gebiete, dass du sie bewahrst und tust,14und wenn du nicht abweichen wirst von all den Worten, die ich euch heute gebiete, weder zur Rechten noch zur Linken, sodass du nicht anderen Göttern nachwandelst, um ihnen zu dienen.
Fluch für Ungehorsam
15Es wird aber geschehen, wenn du der Stimme des HERRN, deines Gottes, nicht gehorchst, sodass du alle seine Gebote und Satzungen nicht bewahrst und tust, die ich dir heute gebiete, so werden all diese Flüche über dich kommen und dich treffen:16Verflucht wirst du sein in der Stadt und verflucht auf dem Feld.17Verflucht wird sein dein Korb und dein Backtrog.18Verflucht wird sein die Frucht deines Leibes, die Frucht deines Landes, der Wurf deiner Rinder und die Zucht deiner Schafe.19Verflucht wirst du sein bei deinem Eingang und verflucht bei deinem Ausgang.20Der HERR wird gegen dich Fluch, Bestürzung und Bedrohung entsenden in allem, was du unternimmst, bis du vertilgt wirst und schnell umkommst um deiner bösen Werke willen, weil du mich verlassen hast.21Der HERR wird dir die Pest anhängen, bis er dich vertilgt hat aus dem Land, in das du kommst, um es in Besitz zu nehmen.22Der HERR wird dich mit Schwindsucht schlagen, mit Fieberhitze, Brand, Entzündung, Dürre, mit Getreidebrand und Vergilben; die werden dich verfolgen, bis du umgekommen bist.23Der Himmel über deinem Haupt wird für dich zu Erz werden und die Erde unter dir zu Eisen.24Der HERR wird den Regen für dein Land in Sand und Staub verwandeln; der wird vom Himmel auf dich herabfallen, bis du vertilgt bist.25Der HERR wird dich vor deinen Feinden geschlagen dahingeben; auf einem Weg wirst du gegen sie ausziehen, und auf sieben Wegen wirst du vor ihnen fliehen, und du wirst ein Anblick des Schreckens werden für alle Königreiche auf Erden.26Und deine Leichname werden allen Vögeln des Himmels und allen Tieren zur Nahrung dienen, und niemand wird sie verscheuchen.27Der HERR wird dich schlagen mit den Geschwüren Ägyptens und mit Beulen, mit Räude und Krätze, sodass du nicht geheilt werden kannst.28Der HERR wird dich schlagen mit Wahnsinn und mit Blindheit und mit Verwirrung der Sinne.29Und du wirst am Mittag umhertappen, wie ein Blinder im Dunkeln umhertappt, und wirst kein Gelingen haben auf deinen Wegen, sondern wirst bedrückt und beraubt sein dein Leben lang, und kein Retter wird da sein.30Du wirst dich mit einer Frau verloben, aber ein anderer wird mit ihr schlafen; du wirst ein Haus bauen, aber nicht darin wohnen; du wirst einen Weinberg pflanzen, aber ihn nicht nutzen.31Dein Rind wird vor deinen Augen geschlachtet werden, aber du wirst nicht davon essen; dein Esel wird vor deinem Angesicht geraubt und dir nicht zurückgegeben werden; deine Schafe werden deinen Feinden gegeben werden, und du wirst keinen Retter haben.
Bedrückung durch Heidenvölker
32Deine Söhne und deine Töchter werden einem anderen Volk gegeben werden, und deine Augen müssen es ansehen und den ganzen Tag nach ihnen schmachten, aber deine Hand wird machtlos sein.33Die Frucht deines Landes und alles, was du erarbeitet hast, wird ein Volk verzehren, von dem du nichts wusstest; und du wirst nur unterdrückt und misshandelt werden alle Tage;34und du wirst wahnsinnig werden von dem, was deine Augen sehen müssen.35Der HERR wird dich schlagen mit bösem Geschwür an Knien und Schenkeln, dass du nicht geheilt werden kannst, von deiner Fußsohle bis zum Scheitel.36Der HERR wird dich und deinen König, den du über dich setzen wirst, zu einem Volk führen, das du nicht kennst, auch deine Väter nicht, und du wirst dort anderen Göttern dienen, Holz und Steinen.37Und du wirst zum Entsetzen werden, zum Sprichwort und zum Gespött unter allen Völkern, zu denen der HERR dich vertreiben wird.38Du wirst viel Samen auf das Feld hinausbringen und wenig einsammeln, denn die Heuschrecken werden es abfressen.39Du wirst Weinberge pflanzen und bebauen, aber keinen Wein trinken und einkellern, denn die Würmer werden es abfressen.40Du wirst Ölbäume haben in deinem ganzen Gebiet; aber du wirst dich nicht mit Öl salben, denn dein Ölbaum wird [seine Früchte] abwerfen.41Du wirst Söhne und Töchter zeugen und doch keine haben, denn sie werden in die Gefangenschaft gehen.42Das Ungeziefer wird alle deine Bäume und die Früchte deines Landes in Besitz nehmen.43Der Fremdling, der in deiner Mitte wohnt, wird immer höher über dich emporsteigen, du aber wirst immer tiefer herunterkommen.44Er wird dir leihen, du aber wirst ihm nicht leihen; er wird zum Haupt werden, du aber wirst zum Schwanz werden.45Und alle diese Flüche werden über dich kommen und dich verfolgen und einholen, bis du vertilgt sein wirst, weil du der Stimme des HERRN, deines Gottes, nicht gehorsam gewesen bist, seine Gebote und Satzungen zu befolgen, die er dir geboten hat;46und sie werden als Zeichen und Wunder an dir haften und an deinem Samen ewiglich.47Dafür, dass du dem HERRN, deinem Gott, nicht gedient hast mit fröhlichem und bereitwilligem Herzen, als du an allem Überfluss hattest,48musst du deinen Feinden, die der HERR gegen dich senden wird, dienen in Hunger und Durst, in Blöße und in Mangel an allem; und er wird ein eisernes Joch auf deinen Hals legen, bis er dich vertilgt hat.
Ankündigung der Vertreibung und Gefangenschaft
49Der HERR wird ein Volk aus der Ferne gegen dich aufbieten, vom Ende der Erde, das wie ein Adler daherfliegt, ein Volk, dessen Sprache du nicht verstehen kannst,50ein Volk mit hartem Angesicht, das keine Rücksicht kennt gegen den Greis und mit den Knaben kein Erbarmen hat.51Es wird die Frucht deines Viehs und die Frucht deines Landes verzehren, bis du vertilgt sein wirst, und dir nichts übrig lassen von Korn, Most und Öl, vom Wurf deiner Rinder und von der Zucht deiner Schafe, bis es dich zugrunde gerichtet hat.52Und es wird dich bedrängen in allen deinen Toren, bis deine hohen und festen Mauern, auf die du in deinem ganzen Land vertraust, gefallen sind. Ja, es wird dich bedrängen in allen deinen Toren, in deinem ganzen Land, das dir der HERR, dein Gott, gegeben hat.53Dann wirst du die Frucht deines Leibes essen, das Fleisch deiner Söhne und deiner Töchter, die dir der HERR, dein Gott, gegeben hat — in der Belagerung und Bedrängnis, mit der dich dein Feind bedrängen wird.54Der verweichlichtste und verwöhnteste Mann bei dir wird dann missgünstig auf seinen Bruder blicken und auf seine geliebte Ehefrau und auf den Rest seiner Kinder, die er übrig behalten hat,55sodass er keinem von ihnen etwas von dem Fleisch seiner Kinder gibt, das er essen muss, weil ihm nichts übrig geblieben ist in der Belagerung und Bedrängnis, mit der dich dein Feind in allen deinen Toren bedrängen wird.56Auch die verweichlichtste und verwöhnteste Frau unter euch, die so verweichlicht und verwöhnt ist, dass sie nicht einmal versucht hat, ihre Fußsohle auf die Erde zu setzen, die wird missgünstig auf ihren geliebten Ehemann und ihren Sohn und ihre Tochter blicken57und auf ihre Nachgeburt, die zwischen ihren Beinen hervorkommt, und auf ihre Kinder, die sie gebiert; denn sie wird dieselben vor lauter Mangel heimlich essen in der Belagerung und Bedrängnis, mit der dich dein Feind in deinen Toren bedrängen wird.58Wenn du nicht darauf achten wirst, alle Worte dieses Gesetzes zu tun, die in diesem Buch geschrieben sind, sodass du diesen herrlichen und furchtgebietenden Namen, den HERRN, deinen Gott, fürchtest,59so wird der HERR dich und deinen Samen mit außerordentlichen Plagen treffen, ja, mit großen und andauernden Plagen und mit bösen und andauernden Krankheiten;60und er wird alle Seuchen Ägyptens über dich bringen, vor denen du dich fürchtest, und sie werden dir anhaften,61dazu alle Krankheiten und Plagen, die nicht in dem Buch dieses Gesetzes geschrieben sind — der HERR wird sie über dich kommen lassen, bis du vertilgt sein wirst!62Und ihr werdet als ein kleines Häuflein übrig bleiben, die ihr doch so zahlreich gewesen seid wie die Sterne des Himmels, weil du der Stimme des HERRN, deines Gottes, nicht gehorcht hast.63Und wie der HERR sich euretwegen zuvor freute, euch Gutes zu tun und euch zu mehren, so wird der HERR sich euretwegen freuen, euch zu verderben und euch zu vertilgen, und ihr werdet herausgerissen werden aus dem Land, in das du jetzt ziehst, um es in Besitz zu nehmen.64Denn der HERR wird dich unter alle Völker zerstreuen von einem Ende der Erde bis zum anderen; und du wirst dort anderen Göttern dienen, die dir und deinen Vätern unbekannt waren, [Göttern aus] Holz und Stein.65Dazu wirst du unter diesen Heiden keine Ruhe haben und keine Rast finden für deine Fußsohlen; denn der HERR wird dir dort ein bebendes Herz geben, erlöschende Augen und eine verzagende Seele.66Dein Leben wird vor dir an einem Faden hängen; Tag und Nacht wirst du dich fürchten und deines Lebens nicht sicher sein.67Am Morgen wirst du sagen: »Wenn es nur schon Abend wäre!« Und am Abend wirst du sagen: »Wenn es nur schon Morgen wäre!« — wegen der Angst, die dein Herz erschreckt, und wegen dessen, was deine Augen ansehen müssen.68Und der HERR wird dich auf Schiffen nach Ägypten zurückführen, auf dem Weg, von dem ich dir gesagt habe: Du wirst ihn nie mehr sehen!
