1Und es geschah, als der HERR den Elia im Sturmwind zum Himmel auffahren lassen wollte, da ging Elia mit Elisa von Gilgal hinweg.2Und Elia sprach zu Elisa: Bleibe doch hier; der HERR hat mich nach Bethel gesandt! Elisa aber sprach: So wahr der HERR lebt und so wahr deine Seele lebt, ich verlasse dich nicht! So kamen sie hinab nach Bethel.3Da gingen die Prophetensöhne, die in Bethel waren, zu Elisa heraus und sprachen zu ihm: Weißt du auch, dass der HERR deinen Herrn heute über deinem Haupt hinwegnehmen wird? Er aber sprach: Ich weiß es auch; schweigt nur still!4Und Elia sprach zu ihm: Elisa, bleibe doch hier, denn der HERR hat mich nach Jericho gesandt! Er aber sprach: So wahr der HERR lebt und so wahr deine Seele lebt, ich verlasse dich nicht! So kamen sie nach Jericho.5Da traten die Prophetensöhne, die in Jericho waren, zu Elisa und sprachen zu ihm: Weißt du auch, dass der HERR deinen Herrn heute über deinem Haupt hinwegnehmen wird? Und so gingen sie beide miteinander.7Und 50 Mann von den Prophetensöhnen gingen hin und stellten sich ihnen gegenüber in einiger Entfernung auf, während diese beiden am Jordan standen.8Da nahm Elia seinen Mantel und wickelte ihn zusammen und schlug damit das Wasser; das teilte sich nach beiden Seiten, sodass sie beide auf dem Trockenen hindurchgingen.9Und es geschah, als sie hinübergegangen waren, da sprach Elia zu Elisa: Erbitte, was ich dir tun soll, ehe ich von dir genommen werde! Und Elisa sprach: Möchte mir doch ein zweifacher Anteil an deinem Geist gegeben werden!10Er sprach: Du hast etwas Schweres erbeten: Wirst du mich sehen, wenn ich von dir hinweggenommen werde, so wird es dir zuteilwerden, wenn aber nicht, so wird es nicht geschehen!11Und es geschah, während sie noch miteinander gingen und redeten, siehe, da kam ein feuriger Wagen mit feurigen Pferden und trennte beide voneinander. Und Elia fuhr im Sturmwind auf zum Himmel.
Der Anfang des Wirkens von Elisa
12Elisa aber sah ihn und rief: Mein Vater! mein Vater! Der Wagen Israels und seine Reiter! Und als er ihn nicht mehr sah, nahm er seine Kleider und zerriss sie in zwei Stücke,13und er hob den Mantel des Elia auf, der von diesem herabgefallen war, und kehrte um und trat an das Ufer des Jordan.14Und er nahm den Mantel des Elia, der von ihm herabgefallen war, und schlug damit das Wasser und sprach: Wo ist der HERR, der Gott des Elia? Und als er so das Wasser schlug, teilte es sich nach beiden Seiten, und Elisa ging hindurch.15Als aber die Prophetensöhne, die bei Jericho ihm gegenüberstanden, das sahen, sprachen sie: Der Geist des Elia ruht auf Elisa! Und sie gingen ihm entgegen und verneigten sich vor ihm zur Erde,16und sie sprachen zu ihm: Siehe doch, es sind unter deinen Knechten 50 tüchtige Männer; lass diese gehen und deinen Herrn suchen! Vielleicht hat ihn der Geist des HERRN genommen und auf irgendeinen Berg oder in irgendein Tal geworfen? Er aber sprach: Sendet sie nicht!17Aber sie drangen in ihn, bis er ganz verlegen wurde und sprach: So sendet sie! Da sandten sie 50 Männer, die suchten ihn drei Tage lang, aber sie fanden ihn nicht.18Und als sie wieder zu ihm zurückkehrten, als er noch in Jericho war, sprach er zu ihnen: Habe ich euch nicht gesagt, ihr solltet nicht hingehen?
Elisa macht schlechtes Wasser gesund
19Und die Männer der Stadt sprachen zu Elisa: Siehe doch, in dieser Stadt ist gut wohnen, wie mein Herr sieht; aber das Wasser ist schlecht, und das Land ist unfruchtbar!20Da sprach er: Bringt mir eine neue Schale und tut Salz hinein! Und sie brachten es ihm.21Da ging er hinaus zu der Wasserquelle und warf das Salz hinein und sprach: So spricht der HERR: Ich habe dieses Wasser gesund gemacht, es soll fortan weder Tod noch Unfruchtbarkeit daraus kommen!22So wurde das Wasser gesund bis zu diesem Tag nach dem Wort, das Elisa geredet hatte.
Die Knaben von Bethel
23Und er ging von dort hinauf nach Bethel. Als er nun den Weg hinaufging, kamen kleine Knaben zur Stadt hinaus; die verspotteten ihn und riefen ihm zu: Kahlkopf, komm herauf! Kahlkopf, komm herauf!24Da wandte er sich um, und als er sie sah, fluchte er ihnen im Namen des HERRN. Da kamen zwei Bären aus dem Wald und zerrissen 42 Kinder.25Und er ging von da auf den Berg Karmel und kehrte von dort wieder nach Samaria zurück.

And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.10And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless , if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so .11And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.12And Elisha saw it , and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.13He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;14And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.15And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.16And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.17And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.18And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?19And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.20And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.21And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land .22So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.23And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.24And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.25And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
