2.Korinther 1 | La Parola è Vita

1 Cari fratelli, questa lettera è scritta da me, Paolo, scelto da Dio per essere apostolo di Cristo, e dal fratello Timòteo. 2 Scriviamo a voi tutti, cristiani di Corinto, e agli altri credenti che sono in tutta lʼAcaia. Possano Dio, nostro Padre, e il Signore Gesù Cristo benedirvi e darvi pace.

Dio ci ha aiutato…

3 Benedetto sia Dio, Padre del nostro Signore Gesù Cristo, il Padre che ha compassione di noi, che ci consola e ci rende forti nei dispiaceri, perché anche noi possiamo consolare tutti quelli che soffrono e dar loro lo stesso aiuto e lo stesso conforto che Dio ha dato a noi. 5 Possiamo essere certi che più soffriamo per Cristo, più riceveremo da lui conforto e incoraggiamento. 6 Infatti, se abbiamo grosse difficoltà, è stato per potervi portare la salvezza e la consolazione di Dio. Ma nelle difficoltà Dio ci ha confortato, ed anche questo vi serve dʼaiuto, perché così possiamo dimostrarvi con la nostra esperienza personale come Dio vi conforterà con amore, quando vi troverete nella nostra stessa situazione. Egli vi darà la forza di sopportare. 8 Cari fratelli, dovete sapere che in Asia abbiamo passato dei momenti davvero difficili. Abbiamo dovuto sopportare sofferenze grandissime, addirittura al di là delle nostre forze, fino a temere di non poter salvare la pelle. 9 Anzi, avevamo già il presentimento di dover morire. Dio ha permesso tutto questo, per insegnarci a non mettere la nostra fiducia in noi stessi, ma in lui, che è tanto potente da resuscitare i morti. 10 Ed egli ci ha aiutato: ci ha liberati da un grande pericolo di morte; e noi sappiamo che questa non sarà né la prima, né lʼultima volta. 11 Anche voi però dovete aiutarci, pregando per noi; così lʼaiuto che il Signore ci ha dato, grazie alle preghiere di tante persone, darà a molti motivo di lodarlo e di ringraziarlo per ciò che ha fatto per noi. 12 Di una cosa possiamo vantarci: in coscienza sappiamo di esserci comportati in questo mondo, e soprattutto verso di voi, con la purezza e la sincerità che vengono da Dio, senza mai fare affidamento sulle nostre capacità, ma lasciandoci guidare dalla grazia di Dio. 13 Le mie lettere erano schiette e sincere, credetemi, non cʼera niente che fosse scritto fra le righe! Benché non mi conosciate molto bene, (ma un giorno, spero, mi conoscerete meglio), voglio che proviate ad accettarmi e che siate orgogliosi di me, come già lo siete in parte; proprio come io lo sarò di voi il giorno in cui tornerà il nostro Signore Gesù. 15 Certo della vostra comprensione e della vostra fiducia, ho pensato di venirvi a trovare andando in Macedonia; poi, al ritorno ho in mente di fermarmi di nuovo da voi, per procurarvi la gioia di una seconda visita. In seguito, sarete voi stessi che mi aiuterete a proseguire il mio viaggio verso la Giudea. 17 Potreste chiedervi perché ho cambiato il mio programma. Pensate forse che cambi idea facilmente? O che mi comporti come un uomo qualsiasi di questo mondo che subito dice«sì» e un attimo dopo dice«no»? 18 Comʼè vero che Dio mantiene le sue promesse, io non appartengo a quel genere di persone. Quando dico«sì» è proprio«sì». 19 Non è stato in mezzi termini che Timòteo, Silvano ed io vi abbiamo parlato di Gesù Cristo. Non abbiamo mai detto«sì» quando era«no», ma in Gesù Cristo non cʼè che il«sì». 20 Infatti, per quante siano le promesse di Dio, Cristo le porta avanti e le mantiene tutte; e noi abbiamo annunciato a tutti che egli è fedele, e abbiamo dato gloria al suo nome. 21 È questo Dio che ci ha fatti cristiani fedeli e ci ha eletti apostoli per predicare il Vangelo. 22 Dio ha impresso su di noi il suo sigillo, il suo marchio di proprietà, e ci ha dato lo Spirito Santo nei nostri cuori come garanzia che apparteniamo a lui e come anticipo di tutto ciò che ci darà. 23 Dio mi è testimone che sto dicendo la pura verità; non sono ancora venuto a trovarvi, perché non voglio rattristarvi con un severo rimprovero. 24 Non voglio imporvi niente in quanto alla fede perché è già forte, voglio invece fare qualcosa per la vostra gioia; far sì che siate veramente felici.

1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God that is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in the whole of Achaia: 2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

God of All Comfort

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.* 6 If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. 7 Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort. 8 For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers,* of the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. 9 Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. 10 He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again. 11 You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many.

12 For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity* and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you. 13 For we are not writing to you anything other than what you read and understand and I hope you will fully understand— 14 just as you did partially understand us—that on the day of our Lord Jesus you will boast of us as we will boast of you. 15 Because I was sure of this, I wanted to come to you first, so that you might have a second experience of grace. 16 I wanted to visit you on my way to Macedonia, and to come back to you from Macedonia and have you send me on my way to Judea. 17 Was I vacillating when I wanted to do this? Do I make my plans according to the flesh, ready to say “Yes, yes” and “No, no” at the same time? 18 As surely as God is faithful, our word to you has not been Yes and No. 19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not Yes and No, but in him it is always Yes. 20 For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory. 21 And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, 22 and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.* 23 But I call God to witness against me—it was to spare you that I refrained from coming again to Corinth. 24 Not that we lord it over your faith, but we work with you for your joy, for you stand firm in your faith.
